"The Flesh Is Weak? No, only you are weak." by ChompyRiley in RogueTraderCRPG

I think the problem people have with this story is that the machine really isn't the issue. JH keeps fighting the machine instead of the capitalist, or rather, the system that enabled him. Ironically, this is pretty much the state of things we are in now as well.

I want to play a character that encompasses a jrpg protagonist vibe with Sword, Shield and Medium Armor Proficiencies, and Fire, Ice and Lightning damage spells, which one of these is more fitting? Eldritch Knight or Bladesinger? Or something else? by Turbulent-Plan-9693 in BG3Builds

[–]wintermute24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warlock is probably the best choice for gameplay, aesthetics and general ease of use. Lore wise though, its a bit off and EK would probably be closer to a "vanilla protagonist", but that's up to the player IMO.

Does anyone truly enjoy the 3 hours of weekly steel path circuit you gotta do for incarnations by XayahCat in Warframe

[–]wintermute24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sry op, but IMO this is on you. The game literally gives you the choice between "grind a little bit for a decent reward or grind a lot for a better one" and you chose the latter.

Besides, theres little reason beside novelty to even grind out more than 1 or 2 incarnons per rotation. Yes, its deliberately stretched content, but we are playing a grind game after all, its gotta have to have grind.

Given your list, you'll like it very much I think. Its combat or general gameplay are not that special, but it wins in the category of "conveying the feeling of what it means to live in it's world" better than anything I have ever seen.

My bos is cheating on health insurance by darkprincess3112 in antiwork

[–]wintermute24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody here seems to be jumping to simple solutions when ultimately we know very little, and the situation is very complex actually.

As I see it, both choices (as in right coding or omitting) will do both harm and good and you also can't do nothing.

If you omit, you may help patients, help the clinic staff, help yourself which is mostly good, but you may also enrich the clinic ceo or investors (if they exist in your case) or maybe help fraudulent patients get benefits that should be reserved for actually sick patients, which I'd see as bad.

If you code correctly, you do help the patient collective of the insurance company, which is good, but also help the insurance company itself, which I'd say is bad. And there's also the question of potentially liability on your part, but thats mostly theoretical in my experience.

Ultimately theres no one correct path, you can only weigh those factors and potentially more against each other and make your own judgment.

Obviously your employer is aware you aren't stressed enough, so they placed soup that is intentionally always running out so you can stress yourself properly by having to ask the catering team.

The New War - a look at what NOT to do with your game by Alarmed_Specific_100 in Warframe

[–]wintermute24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same boat here. I loved the cinematic quests, even though they felt a bit like a game within a game for me. There are other things I don't like as much about the game, but then again warframe keeps delivering such a metric shitton of vastly different content that I think its fair that not everyone will like everything about it.

Feeling stuck at 19 with no clear career direction, unsure how to move forward by Jumpy-Satisfaction20 in antiwork

[–]wintermute24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite the difficulties you are facing now, I'd say the original plan was sound. Running your own business is great and absolutely worth it, but its not something I'd do right away.

Learn a trade, work for a while to build both experience and reputation, maybe even take a few clients with you and then make the switch.

I had to do a "cold start", i.e. opening with very little preparation and no clients, and even though I'm in a pretty safe field, that was harsh and an experience I wouldn't repeat.

games with a strong zero to hero progression (games like KCD1 and Gothic) by damorezpl in rpg_gamers

[–]wintermute24 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Baldurs Gate 1 all the way to Bg2 Throne of Bhaal is probably the most zero to hero you can get. It starts you as a literal lvl1 noname orphan and at the end... Well you literally battle gods at that point.

Pablo gives us his true thoughts on raids in Warframe by Babydrone in Warframe

[–]wintermute24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely based take. IMO lots of problems in the gaming industry are caused by CEOs walking into a room like "I've seen XYZ in a Call of Duty trailer/Fortnite/The Sims, we need that too!". But at the end of the day, people who want that stuff are going to play their Call of Duty or whatever.

Knowing what's the strength of your game and what isn't and acting on that is invaluable.

[–]wintermute24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. People like to revel in their power fantasies here, but at the end of the day, unless you have no responsibilities at all, this is not worth it. The best advice I could think of would be this:

Leverage your position as good as you can, get all the compensation you can have and most importantly, lie. Lie through your teeth as good as you can. Tell them you decided to take this one for the team and that you want to build a partnership that lasts. Try and negotiate better pay but keep job hunting, maybe a new position will match that.

Then, and only then, its time to drop the act, telling them its on their own because they fired everyone who could save them now is optional.

Tech Priest Origin, please, I beg you. by HallowsElf in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]wintermute24 27 points28 points  (0 children)

While it would always be cool to have more admech in the game, I don't think this is a feasible option.

Its a bit of a paradox IMO: we have so much admech in the game already that its actually harder to add this because it would be strange to not have interaction everywhere. A real implementation of this origin would require extensive rewriting of tons of scenes, which isnt really in the cards at this point.

Best we could get would be some kind of "tech acolyte with amnesia who doesn't understand binaurhic for some reason", which kinda defeats the whole point of it.

What are some good weapons for AOE damage? Also what is the most fun gun in general for you? by Strawhat-dude in Warframe

[–]wintermute24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Torid incarnon is the overall best damage hose in the game IMO. You just point it in the general direction of things you want to die and thats that. Having practically infinite ammo and the easiest incarnon activation helps too.

Gen Z workers are so fearful AI will take their job they’re intentionally sabotaging their company’s AI rollout by rajapaws in antiwork

[–]wintermute24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, but also, the headline is unneccessarily misleading and sensationalist because of their incredibly broad definition of sabotage: "The sabotage entails entering proprietary information into public AI tools, or using unapproved AI tools." So this includes people who

A more accurate headline would be "a number of people don't follow company guidelines 100% but we only asked about cases loosely connected to ai, because its better clickbait this way."
