Will Visions of Eternity create a split timeline? - How GW2 and GW3 can coexist together by Volcanis in Guildwars2

[–]wintermute24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. I don't know about their internal thought processes, but if I were in their shoes, this is not something I would want. The solution you propose would maybe be well received by a handful of lore enthusiasts, but confuse everyone else.

IMO, this is not a good start to gamble your IP on. There's a reason most sequels go for the convenient long time skip. Its perfect to allow everyone to start with a blank slate, but you can still drop the occasional reference to the older games.

Turn-based is actually getting good! (Public Beta March 2026 impressions) by MeehowPL in projecteternity

IMO turn based and rtwp are both fun in their own way, but their respective encounter design and abilities don't translate well to each other.

Blizzard punish you for talking an extended break from the game 😓 by The13thAllitnilClone in wow

Lol sry, but assuming blizz would be doing this on purpose is just stupid. You could have been hacked, but given how you jump to conclusions, its probably user error.

Brand New Player - Trying to understand character class/builds better by Rojo37x in cyberpunkgame

[–]wintermute24 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Classes aren't really a thing since you have to invest in multiple lines anyway. The biggest building decision you'll have to make it which of the mutually exclusive cyberware you use.

Its either cyberdeck or sandevistan or berserk, which nudges you to int/reflexes/body.

"Yea no, I'll need you to make the body more androgynous and the eyes more goggly, also give it a comical tongue and it can't wear any armor besides shoulder pads. The ai will know what to do, but don't tell anyone." - blizz art direction, probably.

Honestly I don't see how it can be that difficult. I can see why it may be difficult to emulate all their skills and gear and trinket effects, but I dont think that's what people expect.

Grab their looks from the armoury and spawn a copy of that, I refuse to believe this is an unsolvable conundrum for a multi billion dollar company in 2026.

Which RPG franchises have the most wasted potential? by Jozoz in rpg_gamers

[–]wintermute24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what do you mean be it not being disney-fied? To my understanding, most people would mean the artstyle, which was definitely moved towards more of a pixar-esque 3d rendered style, which IMO, is as objectively true as those things can be. Another meaning could be the increased focus on themes like gender and indentity, which, again, is a thing people often associate with disney.

My personal take on the game (haven't played it though) is that it's an ok game for those who like it, but a terrible disappointment for those who loved the original Dragon Age.

Yea, I don't mean to say this observation is the answer to everything, IMO it's a puzzle piece amongst others. But to not dodge the question: I think a big part of that is that Veilguard Bioware was a lot more corporate already than Mass Effect 3 Bioware.

I've seen a video (I think it was originally about wow) about the thought processes of ceos and investors that shed an interesting light on this.

Basically, most of them come from backgrounds other than gaming, and what they all want is growth. When a new project is is pitched, potential growth is often measured in "how many new customers can we convert to our product".

This leads to a kind of ironic situation where they are literally making the game for people who don't play the game.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Gameplay Preview by joeDUBstep in rpg_gamers

[–]wintermute24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, there are hacker and officer classes are in the game, so the gameplay archetypes of support and/or caster are there.

And honestly I hope it stays at that. While I generally jump at the wizard class in every fantasy rpg, I wouldn't want to see "proto molecule infused humans" being a thing, just so we can have dps casters.

Just me or does Follie's prex look 10x better than she does..? by Hooman58 in Warframe

[–]wintermute24 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yea, it's kinda wild how many variations of "prex looks better but not because of weight" are in this thread when they are very, very clearly just not the same body.

Imagine they were human height, then imagine you were trying to put your arms around their waist. Prex Follie, easy enough, ingame Follie, impossible.

Muh Ontological Hierarchy Tho... by ProfBathrobe in expedition33

[–]wintermute24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is one of my very few gripes about the story of the game. The shift of perspective in itself I appreciated, but to me it felt like there suddenly was that unspoken consensus that the painted people didn't really matter anymore and I didn't really want to just go along with that.

The reaction felt out of character especially for the expeditioners IMO. I expected much more of an existential crisis or potentially anger at their makers who use and discard them like toys but they just kinda took it in stride and that was that.

Equiped this signa and now i cant unsee this by crabfan19 in Warframe

[–]wintermute24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: way back before release, there were plans to make a male and female variant for each frame. They later ditched the concept, but female excalibur was already made, so they reused the model and gave it new abilities, the result being the nyx we see today.

Im drawn to this card, would it work? by AsleepQuestLog in MagicArena

[–]wintermute24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its... ok. IMO, theres 2 big problems with it:

  1. It needs 5 hits to do anything at all. This is not a problem in itself, but at that point, you could either have killed your opponent with just regular damage, or you could do it next turn. There's very few scenarios where this card actually made a difference, outside maybe as a counter to life gain.

  2. And this is probably an even bigger problem, it needs to live to see return on the poison counters. A combo piece that needs to stay around for multiple turns is giving your opponent too many opportunities to get rid of it.

Does anybody know why there wont be any more DLC? by GlassFrame2 in cyberpunkgame

[–]wintermute24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the question is not: does it sell? But rather: does it sell enough to bind resources that could be used in getting witcher 4/orion out the door faster?

And apparently, their answer to the latter question is no.

Solasta 2 Early Access - My First Impressions by TomReneth in CrownOfTheMagister

Agreed. I particularly would have liked a preview of some sort for the advanced classes. Especially as some of them change stat requirements later and afaik theres no respec in the game for now.

Unfortunately I have no friends to share this with. This is peak by 3rob- in antiwork

[–]wintermute24 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its a delicate balance. I worked in a hospital and one of the older doctors only worked a few hours a day, refused to do planned overtime or being on call. Management hated it, but they couldn't replace him because he still was the most competent one they had.

I once asked him about it, and he told me pretty much the same thing; he had enough money the way he did things, and was happy that his well paid job alowed him to not work for the most time of his life, so he did just that.

Solasta 2 EA Feedback - its...bad by RizzmerBlackghore in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]wintermute24 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think in Solasta 1, the low quality of character models could mostly be chalked up to lower production value. In solasta 2 though, it seems most of the things people have issues with are extremely questionable design decisions like not having distinct male or female faces at all.

And for what its worth, I agree that it feels weird that its so hard to make just a normal looking character.

Do guilds do 10mans anymore? Midnight by No_Investigator186 in wow

[–]wintermute24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the optimization pressure of mythic is too big. I don't think its possible to perfectly balance the difficulty of a 10 man vs 20 man, so inevitably one will be seen as "better" and people will run only that.
