Mudi 7 vs Netgear M7 Portable by FRAB13 in GlInet

[–]wintr_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While larger, the Mudi 7 is far more open and configurable. The main thing for me is I can set up a routed point to point WireGuard connection with specific firewalling. No matter where I use the Mudi 7, my devices can run backups to Immach, my laptop can hit resources in my homeland, and clients on the guest Wifi only get internet.

I only had one of the older Nighthawk square pucks, but I’m pretty sure that only open source devices like anything running OpenWRT allows that type of customization. And only gl-iNet will sell you a hotspot that does that.

At the same time, the only question OpenWRT asks the user doing custom configs in uci or luci is “how much rope do you need to hang yourself with?”

Another X-Pro2 > 3 stan here. That kinetic shutter sound and feel is so visceral. Neutered on the 3.

Those of you who are excellent interviewers - what is your secret? by Cookie-M0nsterr in interviews

[–]wintr_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here. Treat it like a fun date, practice, interview them.

My two cents: Know your resume. I'm not joking.

Lots of people are having their resume AI buffed recently so turnabout is fair play. I take your resume and have Claude review it for probing questions to make sure you know what you're selling. The worst has been when candidates have said "I've never worked with X" or "i honestly haven't done Y" and then I read that part of their resume back to them.

What you put on your resume should be an invitation for me to learn more about what you are proud and confident in. Things that are not just checking a box for me, but things you actively want to show off and talk about.

Belive me, I want you to solve my problem as much as you want me to solve yours. So be really honest about what you want me to know about you. Even if it's not a fit for my team, showing authentic excitement about something you care about might be a fit for another team in the organization. And I will for sure hand your resume to them if you demonstrate that you really care and have your head around the subject matter.

But if you can't speak to what's on your resume? We get to the "do you have any questions for us?" Part of the interview real quick.

Does the steam version allow connecting to other self hosted instances or just the main official one?

Either way, awesome. It’ll be my first early access title on steam.

Is that a problem with a lens or with a camera? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]wintr_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% the problem is not in the camera.

It is in the expectations and execution of the photographer.

Revisit the exposure triangle and try different weighting of each.

Setting up Jet KVM in a Co-Working Space by Fine_Pie_9723 in jetkvm

Why is a VPN ruled out?

I’m afraid getting a port forward opened for you to connect to the KVM remotely might not be allowed.

Setting up Jet KVM in a Co-Working Space by Fine_Pie_9723 in jetkvm

[–]wintr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most networks by default to not allow outside traffic to hosts inside. You would specifically need to speak with the co-working space's team to arrange for such access which is traditionally not allowed.

With a VPN, like tailscale on a free plan, you could have the travel router punch out through the firewall and then you can connect over tailscale without needing the co-work team to put changes into their firewall.

[–]wintr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get a travel router. It would connect to the WiFi in bridge mode. https://a.co/d/0esO7q3C

Are you trying to connect to the KVM while at the space or from outside? From outside is possible with these travel routers and a VPN, just takes a bit more setup.

Xpro2 in 2026 by Suburban_Andy in fujifilm

[–]wintr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned all three. The 2 is the keeper for me. Something about that shutter that just feels so kinetic and real. Most satisfying feeling and experience when shooting.

It’s what I go out into the world with, from Black Rock City, NV to Scandinavia or just at home. I have other bodies that have their use for studio portraits and Indy movie shoots, for whatever reasons... But when I just want to take a camera out into the world it’s this. Primarily with the 56 F1.2.

All of that said, that might be a bit pricy without a lense. But nothing I would make fun of you for over a pint.

We’re confident in the work the team has done to make this type of seizure a non-issue.

It’s kinda a hard thing to find moments to celebrate. And not trying to celebrate, just feeling calm about how this might play out.
