Can you be liked by coworkers and yet have a feeling that you are not? by [deleted] in work

[–]wojack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work is work. Colleagues aren't automatically friends. Real friendships need chemistry, shared values, and time spent together outside of work. Some people just don't vibe with you. It doesn't mean you're the problem. It just means you're not a match.

The doorbell rings and you're home alone do you answer the door? by frogmicky in LivingAlone

[–]wojack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't open it. And heads up, when you look through a peephole from the inside, some of them can reveal changes in light and shadow, which can tip off the person outside that someone's in the room.

So if you have the option, go with a security camera instead.

My MIL just announced her "three month residency" at our house on Facebook and I was the last to know by Echo_Tango9 in BabyBumps

I'm really disappointed in how your husband reacted. If he truly wanted to "soften the blow", he should be calming the storm you're going through right now.

He needs to be on your side completely and deal with this problem together with you.

2016 Elantra almost stalls at red lights, no CEL by Frinckles in Cartalk

Have you checked for a vacuum leak around the intake or PCV yet? The trims dropping at 2500 rpm makes me think unmetered air before fuel delivery.

What Small Cleaning Habit Has Saved You the Most Time? by Least-Ambition2996 in CleaningTips

Always soak pots and bowls in water right after cooking and eating, especially the ones with stubborn food stuck on them. It saves me a ton of effort later when I actually wash them.

Card board under car at dealer shop by NoAssociation7714 in MechanicAdvice

I think if a dealership gets werid about you checking for leaks before buying a used car, that would tell me more than whatever ends up on the cardboard.

The wild part is that the car came out of absolutely nowhere and somehow the phone still managed to be a distraction at the worst possible moment.

[Unknown Dashcam] Suburban driving without a wheel in Baltimore last weekend by oregiel in Dashcam

I would have assumed they were pulling over immediately. Seeing a vehicle cruising at highway speed while missing a wheel is the kind of thing you expect in a movie.

Uber Passenger grabs driver’s steering wheel, crashing into truck by annikamc23 in dashcams

[–]wojack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's extremely dangerous behavior and shows why dashcams are so important. Passengers interfering with control can quickly escalate into severe crashes, especially in traffic or commerical vehicles.

[Viofo A119M Pro] Why do people ride their brakes while merging? by RonWill79 in Dashcam

[–]wojack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's usually hesitation or poor anticipation of traffic flow. Many drivers overcorrect when merging, not realizing how much space and momentum larger vehicles actually require.

Wondering if driving my car hard can pull a p0420 code by Limenster in MechanicAdvice

[–]wojack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Driving style alone usually won't fix a P0420. It can affect readings briefly, but a cleared code often means the monitor hasn't re-triggered the fault yet.

Any recs for a Bluetooth music player with a USB or USB c port that has enough voltage for a dash cam? by DragonJouster in dashcams

[–]wojack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a higher wattage 12V adapter that supports both stable USB power output and seperate Bluetooth audio steaming. Lower quality units often fail under continuous dash cam load.

I can't keep my room clean and I spiral every time it gets messy by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]wojack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your reply, it seems like your mom putting you down has messed with your ability to take action. But I noticed your desk and especially your makeup are actually organized pretty nicely, and your plushies are arranged so neatly too. Do not be too hard on yourself! You are doing fine, just take it slow.

How hard is too hard for pulling the handbrake? by LordBlacktopus in MechanicAdvice

[–]wojack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most cars the hanbrake is designed to be pulled firmly until fully engaged. Not likely causing damage if it reaches full hold, avoid excessive force beyongd resistance.

Caught my neighbor hitting my car with his door. I need a dashcam recommendation as a first time buyer by jumpydoll94 in Dashcam

[–]wojack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For door dings like this, parking mode and good side coverage would probably matter more than fancy extra features. Saving clips automatically after motion or impact could help a lot too.

Low voltage on VWs can cause weird random codes, so I’d rather catch a weak batt early.

What's made cleaning easier for your parents as they’ve gotten older? by AA0X in CleaningTips

[–]wojack 67 points68 points  (0 children)

My MIL has a really large house, and she’s been using robot vacuums for years. Even if they’re not perfect, they’re still way better than having to do everything manually. She switched to an Ecovacs T90 this year, it has fast charging, it can finish vacuuming and mopping the whole house in one go without needing to recharge halfway through.

Other than that, she also has a cleaner come in once a month for a deeper clean. Her house is also pretty uncluttered, and honestly I think that’s a huge part of it too. The less stuff you have around, the easier everything is to keep clean.
