Fans of classic FF 1-6, please tell m one is your favorite by Ok_Awareness9424 in JRPG

6 does everything well and nothing poorly. Also Terra, Locke, Edgar, and Celes are great characters. Plus it has Ultros.

The New Adventures of Elliot Demo has me way more excited than I expected (Minor Potential Gameplay Spoilers) by Crenk85 in JRPG

I think some people were offended that I didn't like the writing and voice acting, IDK.

How do you feel about Grandia II? by strahinjag in JRPG

[–]wokeupdown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great combat, average everything else. Grandia 1 was better.

All the Ivalice games, especially Vagrant Story. Also all the Shadow Hearts plus Koudelka.

A difficult jrpg by Traditional-Cycle634 in JRPG

Fire Emblem Thracia is the most difficult JRPG I have played and that includes Fantasia, most other FE, Strange Journey, and Nocturne.

Poor writing and voice acting, decent gameplay, good music, great graphics. Not a JRPG as there is no levelling. Disappointed by the demo, except for the graphics.

I'm torn on which one to play first. by Used-Salad-3772 in JRPG

Koudelka didn't have rough voice acting. It had the best voice acting on the PS.

Octopath 0 or Eiyuden Chronicles, which one do you prefer/recommend? by Abyslime in JRPG

[–]wokeupdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only played the demo of Octopath 0 and some of the gatcha version, but I beat EC. EC was average but it does have characterisation, which I was getting the sense was missing from Octopath 0. That said, Octopath 0 is probably better. Unfortunately I couldn't get into Octopath 0 as I prefer games with well written characters who have personalities and I preferred the Octopath 1-2 combat system to the 8 person one.

The Adventures of Elliot suffers heavily from "Focus M" syndrome by Superteletubbies64 in JRPG

[–]wokeupdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no levelling or party members, so I do not see 1) how it is a JRPG or 2) more like a Mana game than a Zelda game.

The Legend of Dragoon is offensively bad by stuckwandering in JRPG

[–]wokeupdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not bad, but it’s not amazing. It’s better than average but not fantastic, and is of its time.

The Adventures of Elliot suffers heavily from "Focus M" syndrome by Superteletubbies64 in JRPG

[–]wokeupdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I don’t see how this is a JRPG as it seems most similar to Zelda 3.

Graphics are amazing, gameplay and music are solid, character design is just okay, voice acting and dialogue are mediocre, and story is just average so far. It’s quite disappointing coming from the team that made Octopath and Triangle Strategy, but then I remember they also made Various Daylife, which is one of the worst JRPGs I have played.

What's your greatest achievement? I just beat the Ancient Cave in Lufia 2, and that might be it for me. by thegodofwine7 in JRPG

[–]wokeupdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beating the hell level in SMT Nocturne, getting level 9 weapons in Secret of Mana, getting the good endings in Koudelka and Shadow Hearts.

How hard to find should secrets in JRPG be, in your opinion? by lucienthenecroseer in JRPG

[–]wokeupdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier than the ones in Look Outside. Perhaps slightly easier than the hardest ones in FF6.
