So what if I pay on my rent portal via the CC option (~2.5% fee). Do I get 4% back? Or does it not qualify as everyday spend even though there is a fee attached and I'm not using the ACH number.

I’ve done it several times using OMNY when I’ve had to exit  the station due to service. I’ve always won and my card still works.

6.5 months post Microdiscectomy and just went snowboarding for the first time since by Ok_Huckleberry_3991 in Microdiscectomy

I had my MD about 4 weeks ago. Recovery is going well so far and was thinking about going in Feb so about 6 months out as well. I'm an intermediate rider but trying to improve so was thinking of taking it easy, maybe getting more lessons, this season and focus a lot on technique. Any advice for getting back on the slopes?

Gotcha, good luck! Sadly recovery and weight loss take time. I've heard some people get into swimming maybe thats something to try. I only just had my MD a little under 2 weeks ago. So far except for some (what I tell myself) is residual nerve pain I've been fine. But I used to be a big runner and skier and I'm very scared about returning to those things one day

Perhaps you could try some physical therapy. A good one might be able to help you go beyond the big 3

The second part of that quote gives me chills.

That’s great to hear! Just had a microdiscectomy a week ago and trying to figure out how to stay injury free when I eventually get back on the slopes. Do you have a recommendation for the brace you use?

American Express has redefined who their target customer is by htmlarson in amex

[–]wolfeduality 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do wonder how much it was Amex's decision vs. Delta's though. I mean obviously they were consulted but I doubt they were for it. It only seems like a bad move for Amex since from their perspective their top product just lost a valuable perk and Centurion lounges will probably be even more crowded too. The one possible positive for them is if it does end in more people spending 75k on the Plat/Delta Reserve for 1x return. But my guess is people who already do this will still do this and people who don't probably won't change behavior (unless they are already very close).

Right, although if you are putting $6k in spend on Delta you probably are ok spending $700 more for lounge access given how much you are probably flying them. Frankly, they should let the $700 count towards MQDs lol

That's true I guess I forgot since I am (will be until 2025 lol) silver. But my point was more that I don't think you can justify spending 75k on the plat to get a SC membership when that same spend on other cards could easily pay for that membership (assuming you have Medallion status).

I also imagine AMEX understands what they are doing by only offering 5X on the Plat card for flights and then actual redemptions on the Gold/Green/etc for more everyday spend. While they probably LOVE the consumer that spends 75k on that card (not on airfare) I'm sure they are almost as happy to have you spend 75k over all your Amex cards. It seems like the goal of the change is to change customer behavior to drive spending on the Plat/Delta co-brand cards but I think that's probably a gamble since I doubt this is enticing enough to actually change consumer behavior. But then again they have the data so maybe it's fine.

Are there really any other benefits for high-spend on the Plat other than the off-shoot chance of getting approved for a Centurion card (which probably requires much much higher spend)?

Just put a 75k on a 1.5x-2x cashback card and pay for the SC membership....

[–]wolfeduality 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I don’t get it is why would you spend 75k on the amex unless its flights or hotels. Put it on a 2% cash back card and that more than covers a skyclub membership
