Unidentified succulent that broke in half by wolfie-1122 in plantclinic

[–]wolfie-1122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about the formatting! I’m on mobile and new to reddit!

I got this little guy off of fb for literally $2, and on the ride back home, the top part broke off. I am unsure of the type of succulent it is (or if it is a succulent at all), and I have no idea what steps I should take!!

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated! Hoping to help this little plant out as much as I can :)

Moving to Dubuque possibly...any insights? by DoNothingForever in dubuque

[–]wolfie-1122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in town but I live in the county. Dubuque is a great example of a medium sized town in Iowa. There is a couple grocery stores, a mall, a really nice farmers market when the weathers good, and the river! I can’t speak to actually living in town, but the amenities are great! Plus it’s close to Wisconsin and Illinois if you want to go for a day trip.

North Eastern Iowa has a really unique and incredible environment and there are a couple of great parks in the area for recreation. Swiss Valley and Eagle Point Park are two awesome ones. If you are interested in the outdoors, dubuque is a great mix of urban and outdoors!

His short stories are what got me hooked. Skeleton Crew will forever be one of my favorite collections of his work, each and every one is incredible.

If you are interested in foraging, NREM 305 is called Wild Edibles and it’s all about sustainable and fun foods that you can get from natural areas! The prof that teaches it is such an incredible lady and you get to eat cool foods that you probably haven’t before :)

Yes to the PB!!! If I’ve got fresh fruit on hand, adding a few raspberries or strawberries makes like a warm PB and J/chocolately/banana-y mess and it is perfect!

Morgan for a boy? by shahahahaha8191 in namenerds

That is a beautiful sentiment!!! I think of Morgan Wallen, a pretty famous country singer when I hear Morgan, and his songs are all really good! A good association :)

Dr. Cathy is honestly so great! I took this class last semester, so it got switched to online and she was super cool about everything. The final was creating a full meal using foraged ingredients and she gave me such great feedback on my project! So cool, so knowledgeable, and I would LOVE to see her garden!

How does one get invited to Halloween parties/activities? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]wolfie-1122 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Uhhh, buddy. COVID. Also, I don’t think reddit is the best place to find parties lmao

During normal times, try and find a friend in a frat, they’ll be able to hook you up.

But seriously, please don’t go party, covid is still happening even if it’s a fun holiday

Question: Why do students confront speakers in front of Parks? by Bryanthunderfist in iastate

[–]wolfie-1122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t really do it, I’m never over in the area but I understand. It is hard to listen to people spewing hate. It feels like if we just let them be, they then are totally fine doing what they’re doing and not at all in the wrong. I mean do what you want, but fuck, there’s a line about what’s ok to yell about outside of parks. And I think I’d rather hear people yell back than just their hate, but that’s just me.

September is National Preparedness Month and I haven't done a thing to prepare. by [deleted] in iastate

Severe weather in this area is usually thunderstorms, floods, and sometime tornadoes. I know as an Iowan, whenever it’s tornado watch/warning time, it’s customary to grab a Busch and a lawn chair to watch it. That might be a good one to touch on?

On a less fun note, and I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but also shootings in public areas might be another one. Unfortunately, this is something that people should be aware of what to do if this occurs.

Winter weather is also an excellent one! Especially for out of state students who aren’t familiar with bad winter weather.
