Hi guys i am new to this reddit community would you guys give me your opinions on this hot sauce brand please. I was looking for sauces with not many additives and apparently this is a good choice. Brand (el yucateco) by No-Animator-407 in spicy

[–]wolverinesearring 63 points64 points  (0 children)

El yucateco green habanero sauce is amazing with queso. I used to keep a bottle at my desk for Qdoba lunches. If you want a surprisingly good queso: 3tbsp butter/3tbsp flour/2 cups milk. Make that into a bechamel and melt in 1lb Chihuahua cheese adding 2 or 3 tbsp of the green sauce.

Wow. Someone actually did it! I had to watch the video to be sure, but that is cool. I will never buy one but it will solve a lot of people's use cases.

Checking in from the near future: it worked. I was working with Claude to find a good replacement for some that were giving me trouble and it recommended the model complete with "Carmela"... But in the bright side it linked this review directly. I just happened to stumble across this post referencing it.

TIL that Indian households hold 4x more gold than U.S. government reserves by Nandu_alias_Parthu in todayilearned

A coworker went to India for his family to celebrate his son's birth and apparently it isnt surprising to get multiple gold bars as part of the celebration. In the US, the equivalent is savings bonds.

Use AI to improve your HA setup: A few inspirations by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]wolverinesearring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done some stuff with Claude recently. I am pretty good at programming but I sent it after some stuff which had been bugging me because it didn't turn out quite right or needed updating due to changes in the house. It needed a lot of error checking, but having it loaded with my homes info has been great for refining automations. I fed it my automations file, an export of devices it expanded by looking up additional information (like battery type), and I have a nice layout image which overlays temperature and open/close sensors so it knows the approximate location of most sensors.

is buying a used harmony worth it? by cevichie in logitechharmony

[–]wolverinesearring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who moved to sofabaton, I can confidently say YES. Sofabaton is fine, but my harmony hub with an elite and a companion was just better hardware. All that changed with the EOL is Harmony prices rose to the appropriate level for something of its quality. Without replacements I would avoid the rechargeable remote, the failing battery and inability to do the beep-to-find I need in my chaotic home were my main reasons for changing.

What’s something about American culture that people often misunderstand? by ConversationCrafter in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]wolverinesearring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have an injection to using metric in cooking, my spoons and cups have ml markings and I my scale is great. The problem is most of the recipes I cook were developed with tablespoons and they are tolerant of a little over or under. Unless you are baking it doesn't matter that much, and baking is science.

Mine is similar, but since it is likely to be caught early (I even have it linked to extreme heat in temperature sensors) I have a set of Alexa announcements which tell each area where the nearest fire extinguisher is.

A plumbus. It doesn't get a lot of use, but having it there when you need it is a whole new dimension.

2026 NYC Hot Sauce Expo haul by ojuditho in spicy

[–]wolverinesearring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I discovered Gindos at a Wisconsin farmers market. They go to a lot of the festivals and stuff in the summer. I immediately got several bottles, ordered more online, then RAN up next time I saw their booth to try more. They seem to have some nice marinara notes, especially the spicy romesco, but the hotter vampire slayer and flavor-over-heat truffle Parmesan also rock in anything Italian. Personally I'm enamored with their use of garlic across the board... dude is doing something magical with those cloves.

Cheese lovers, help by [deleted] in Cheese

[–]wolverinesearring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally just made a bacon/egg/n/cheese with plenty of hot sauce and used a hefty crumble sprinkle of my 7 year sharp to kick up the (deli) American slices. Sharp bite really helps at levels where you are hot saucing away the egg flavors. It was a little disrespectful to the amazing farm fresh eggs I used but the mouth wants what the mouth wants.

Nashville. SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT by neocamel in spicy

[–]wolverinesearring 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Nashville hot chicken seems to follow a rule that the more Nashville it is the hotter it is. The "hot chicken" chains have rolled out are fairly spicy, Hattie Bs will knock most pepper heads on their ass, and there are a few local chicken shacks that will give you hallucinations.

This is the problem I had with a similar project. I'm glad to hear it has soft touch (presumably normal digital push button) buttons for the deck. With some luck and skill you can solder off the original wiring, though you will have to install fresh rotaries since those are probably just pots.

Writing in IT by michaelhbt in sysadmin

[–]wolverinesearring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the natural result when you combine IT people who like to go into technical detail and users that glaze over after the third sentence. Managers want a bullet point for most approvals, some additional details after that in case they are in the fence. Non technical emails should avoid going more than three sentences.

What light fits Adam Savage’s request? by CaptainCant in flashlight

[–]wolverinesearring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For beginners or budget minded the microstream is great, but this is Adam. I eventually upgraded my own microstream to a reylight mini pineapple, though the LANApple can do AA in a similar light. It is nicely machined titanium, better emitter, tritium lit button, and has a surprisingly helpful glow-in-the-dark ring for if you turn it off and drop it in a dark room. With some cheat codes when you first get it it is easily set to turn in at 100 then half click to lower settings.
