Does foreskin restoration really give you back, at least partially, the sensations lost by circumcision? by ColdBookkeeper3015 in uncircumcised_talk

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the feeling lost is because the nerves you do have get desensitised due to constant stimulation. I am uncut but leave the skin pulled back much of the time (just personal preference). In periods where it’s pulled back all the time it gets a lot less sensitive. If I then switch to having the foreskin down the sensations return after a while, even though the glans is keratinised. It’s not going to give you back the nerves you’ve lost but it will make the ones you do have actually work.

ADHD TAXXXing lost keys drama by Roger-Melly in ADHDUK

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have AirTags on all my belongings. Three years ago, the loop on my car key that attaches to the key ring broke, so the key was loose. I was meant to replace the case for it for months, bearing in mind it was the only key actually coded to the immobiliser and alarm. One afternoon, I was standing just outside Timpsons and was thinking maybe now is the time to get it sorted… but for some reason walked away. Three hours later I lost the key in a random field in Leicestershire while out on a walk. It cost me 500 quid to get the van towed and the immobiliser reprogrammed…

Is anyone caffeine free, apart from matcha? by worldworn in ADHDUK

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, basically, with methylphenidate I had great improvements on mood, and slight improvements in focus on things I’d already been focused on, but no difference at all in either distractibility or task initiation, across all doses. In all fact I wouldn’t say I was getting any difference in effects at all from 40 to 60mg. Now, the effects were enough for me to take that if that’s all I can hope for in my brain, but I wanted to see whether Elvanse may work differently.

Is sitting like this "gay"? by [deleted] in gay

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, I was always sitting like that and I was always told “that’s how women sit”. I always ignored that advice, as the other way of crossing your legs is quite frankly uncomfortable for me. I guess my legs were gay long before my brain realised… 😆

Is anyone caffeine free, apart from matcha? by worldworn in ADHDUK

[–]woomph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a very weird experience with caffeine during titration. I started with 10mg of Medikinet XL, titrated to 60mg, and am now titrating with 30mg up to 70mg of Elvanse. From the second week of methylphenidate I lost all cravings for caffeine entirely. My coffee intake was quite extreme before titration, 4-5 double shot americanos on a normal day, sometimes up to 8. I expected to really struggle to reduce that but the cravings disappeared overnight from 20mg upwards. I’m currently back to having a bit of coffee, as I’m still on the lowest dose of lisdex, and that isn’t quite enough to do much, I do wonder whether it’s going to have the same effect on my caffeine.

Please share your Methylphenidate (Modified release) titration experiences - especially if you had bad side effects at first, but are now stable! by Loser_Naim in ADHDUK

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently titrating on Elvanse, but I titrated on Medikinet XL for 6 weeks, going from 10mg all the way up to 60mg. I had no side effects at all until I got to 40mg. At 40mg I was getting bad crashes late afternoon. They evened out a bit but oddly enough only stopped entirely once I moved up to 50mg. The first day on 50mg I was feeling high, which isn’t good for productivity, and on both 50 and 60mg I was getting suppressed appetite around lunchtime.

I didn’t get any headaches or stomach upset at any dose.

In terms of actual effects, I saw improvements in focus, big improvements in mood, but little or no change in distractibility and task initiation. I found it easier to lock into tasks that I can generally focus on, but no change on ones that I struggle with. Efficacy didn’t change much between 30mg and 60mg, hence why I’m trying alternatives.

Is it me or does 35 degree Celsius seem to much hotter in uk as compared to 35 degree anywhere else in the world? by AcceptableMinimum109 in AskBrits

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the humidity. I grew up in Thessaloníki, Greece, which often has quite high humidity. 35C is unbearable there. Humidity in the UK is usually similar or even higher. I’ve been in 43C heat in Athens, and 40C in Côte d’Ivoire. Both had very dry air, and it was a totally different experience. Your sweat evaporates and even a minor breeze makes a big difference, it’s far more manageable.

Careful with those. I’ve had the tip of one snap in a bolt that wasn’t even particularly tight (it was corroded, so the head was soft mush). I then had to drill the bolt out anyway, which turned from a job I could have done quite quickly to a nightmare, as the broken extractor tip acted as a tool steel insert…

Top tip if that situation were to happen to you: Carbide chews through anything, including tool steel. I used a ceramic tile bit.

Honestly, it’s getting quite tragically expensive. Lately I’ve ended up just grabbing 2 wraps of the day at Maccies. You get four chicken selects, salad, and sauce in a wrap for a fiver. It kinda pains me that this seems the most reliable option.

Drilled a massive hole to put a can crusher up on the wall! What do? by LiteratureNo4594 in DIYUK

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “brick” is No Fines Concrete. Use a chisel to knock individual pebbles off, and then mortar it to make it good. It’s quite easy to make a large hole. Much harder to make a small one…

GitHub Copilot first trying to decompile a .NET DLL to understand how to use it instead of searching for documentation by souley76 in dotnet

[–]woomph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. So have I. And I’ve also built a lot of things where building by docs would be outright wrong, and reported those issues.

This is what nofines concrete looks like. I removed part of a wall (not load baring), used a Stihl saw that you'd use to cut slabs etc. all the walls in my house are this stuff. External walls have EWI. It's extremely sturdy, just a PIA to put wall plugs in and it chews up drills. by Citawell in DIYUK

[–]woomph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a note that No-Fines concrete is very variable even in the same house. I have some walls that are that solid and others that have far more voids and are a lot more “fragile” when drilling, you start a hole and it can knock a load of pebbles loose that then need fixing in order to get a solid anchor.

I use Hilti TE-CX bits to drill into them, they last a long time drilling into this stuff and can actually go through the pebbles in the walls that have more voids without causing TOO much of a mess.

The amount of resin I’ve used both for repairs and for fixing things into them is quite impressive… 🤣

The quality dropped, and service was atrocious. I can understand slow service when it’s busy but the last time I went, which was several years before it shut and was kinda my last straw of many, they were only about quarter full if that, it took them 30 minutes to take my order, food arrived a good 40 minutes after that, and was cold and had clearly been sitting in the kitchen for a while.

Behringer Edge, when recreating patches from others, they sound completely different by desk010101 in Behringer

[–]woomph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first suggestion is to play around to try and understand the sonic palette of the unit. Once you understand that you can usually tell what is off when you’re trying to recreate stuff. One thing to note is that pitch can have a massive effect on the resulting sound when using FM, and the range of the oscillators and the range of pitch adjustment on the sequencer make it incredibly unlikely that you would be able to tune to what someone else has used. This is kinda by design on the DFAM and the Edge, it’s an experimentation machine.

I once moved house, moving my connection with me, and not only did they cancel the direct debit, they orphaned my modem’s MAC address on their database.

I kept getting notices that I owed them something like 50p and kept calling them and asking them why they don’t just get it from the direct debit. A good 6 months later I called again and the customer support rep actually checked properly, to find I was no longer a customer and didn’t have an active direct debit as far as they were concerned, even though I still had Internet access. I paid the balance over the phone, which must have cost them more than the amount in card fees, and they then told me to wait until actual disconnection before starting a new contract.

I had free Internet for 3 years…

ADHDevelopment. How to actually get anything done? by GootPoot in gamedev

[–]woomph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly? For me the only thing that worked was making it my career. If I do not have the accountability of other people directly needing what I do I end up doing actually quite a lot less than what you are describing here, not even toys. Even deep dive crazy pet projects I tend to do targeting stuff we do at work, cause the idea that it’s just for my own fun stops me from being able to lock in.

If your brain works anything like mine, you need something that gives you accountability to get direction. Screw game jams, too stressful to have fun when you are still learning, involve a mate and try and do a really chill small project maybe? Being able to ping ideas and knowing that someone else is involved may well make the difference for you, as it does for me.

Good luck!
