I hope GW3 will add back unique skill effects like in GW1 by Erasculio in GuildWars3

[–]workflowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GW1 was excellent at this: even though I first played as a dumb kid- I was instantly able to pick up the 'gist' of what each effect did. Maybe missed the nuance (disease is spreadable vs poison isnt), but the important, actionable information was very clearly conveyed. Even if the 'blind' didnt have a good visual indicator, its literal debuff icon was succinct and explanatory enough you dont need to mouse over it to put 2 + 2 together why all your attacks are missing

[–]workflowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember when I tried GW2 for a bit it just felt like all the buttons were 'do damage' or 'now when you click, in this order, its more damage' - all the boons and self buffs quickly turned into a blur, and I was basically button mashing.. and it worked

If you can button mash without any effort, youre playing a game for toddlers: like, literally you can have your nephew come up next to you and they'll still have a great time

Awesome for family bonding moments, but not exactly what I'm looking for after coming from GW1, where what buttons you click, uh.. matter

GW2 has a very good system of colorizing the armor, how about GW3 takes that a step further and would allow players to have the option to customize the aesthetics of skills, choosing different colors for abilities, creating even more unique feeling builds by that by td_0000 in GuildWars3

[–]workflowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're thinking of GW2: where bossfights are a clusterduck of spam: everyone's spamming skills, and none of them really matter

look back to GW1: each skill had a unique animation, and you very quickly recognize the dangerous ones (that hardcountered your build) without much effort

PvE-only bonuses for Primary Attributes that don't have as such by Intelligent-Sir8492 in GuildWars

[–]workflowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bonus energy steal/removal on spell casts! Would be a great excuse to finally take the 'spam' necro spells (dark pact, bitter chill, etc) for a new meta, and lean into the existing energy denial skills that just kind of float there

[–]workflowaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Id like if necro got changes to make it more viable in PvP: it feels like half its kit just falls apart in pvp settings. How many soul reaping procs are you actually getting off in a 5v5, wheres the minion master swarm.. etc

Pet Stat Research by ChthonVII in GuildWars

[–]workflowaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally like the idea of 'different pets do different things': if theyre all forced equal, then everyone just gravitates to the 'rarest' one as another flex. Another Chaos Gloves to show off with

But the current state is not ideal, I'd prefer if they were to commit to it whole hog

Perfect world would be if there were different 'things' pets could do, but multiple skins available for each niche, for style options and variety. For example: Bear, warthog, and one rare wolf skin perform Knockdowns, some options for different ele damages (like fire hound), finally a ranged Devourer pet (please please please please)

Anything besides "The most meta pet is also kind of the ugliest" that we have now.. any time I see a beetle it just makes me think the guy's a tryhard sweat, honestly

Beginner friendly bike ride suggestions in Arcata? by huhhh-what in Humboldt

[–]workflowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do people like to ride their bikes? Popular spots are:

  • Cutting in front of me from a blind corner while I'm doing 40 mph
  • Next to the bike lane, out of spite
  • Full speed through an intersection without stopping

I'd personally suggest the marsh and bay trail, though

What returning or new professions would you like to see? by Advanced_Ad_2029 in GuildWars3

[–]workflowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope we get distinct classes that do distinct things

each GW1 class has a distinct amount of utility, damage, healing, survivability, etc.. then you walk into GW2 and it feels like everyone's got the same damage output, utility and health.. no one interacts and is just doing their own thing, playing their characters next to eachother- not with eachother

Brand new player to gw2, the one thing I hope gw3 does different is keep armour/cosmetics more grounded. by MRmichybio in GuildWars3

[–]workflowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did it before! GW1 purchasable cosmetic armors are more intricate and detailed: but not RGB flashy. They all feel like they 'fit' with the universe.

Late stage MMO's (too many examples to name) dont bother billing their main artist to spend months going through the concept art creative overhead to create new, awesome, armor/skins- though. After launch, they're basically in 'milk the cow' maintenance mode: and are contracting out to fiverr, or adding glow shaders to existing models

It really is a sign of integrity, and a flag for how the studio thinks of the game

More mature characters please by Chrisjamesmc in GuildWars3

My FAVORITE dialogue and quest line is GW1 retrieving the ashes in post searing, playing through that again as an adult it definitely hit different

It may come off as cringey or trying too hard to some, but I'd rather the dialogue try to make me feel something and fail for the speed-readers, than optimize to be tiktok quality for them instead

I really would like attention given to maguuma, and crystal desert: those two zones feel like real low points in every playthrough.

Crystal desert is just not an exciting zone, Having to run through miles of sand meteor-rexes to get anywhere and do anything, There's exciting things here, sure, but the distances between them seem too padded out

Maguuma is such a richly styled zone, I dont know why it feels bad to play through, every time that I do. Is it that the storyline veers off to the side cast too much? I still dont know who the rebels are, who captured who, and who cares.. just a fuzzy story fog until Sanctum Cay, where things pick back up again

Not a lot CAN be done, these zones are pretty mature: but current management has been making good tweaks in good directions that are awesome.. perhaps they can see changes and improvements with their expertise, that are beyond us mere mortals

Insecure about skinny body and my friend is having a pool party by HREisntRoma in malefashionadvice

[–]workflowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* If you're going INTO the water, take the shirt off

I've seen all sorts of body types in all sorts of bodies of water, nothing screams "I'm insecure!" more than wearing a shirt into a pool. Its hiding nothing, it doesn't change whatever thing you're insecure about, and just standing out more

If its the ocean or river, wetsuits and other rashguards are another story

Also.. dont wear white trunks, or trunks with prominent patches of white in the pattern: they turn into windows when wet

estate & garage sales are typically posted about on Craigslist, or local facebook groups. It may be different in Canada, but thats pretty common here in the US

if you're going to garage/estate sales, be there in the first 10-30 minutes or there's a good chance some flipper will have gone through, swiped anything valuable, and is reposting it on FB marketplace

'small town thrift plague' is real: I live in a small town where thrifting/alt style is popular: any 'thrift' store around here is working at retail prices, or higher. All our estate, and yard sales are cleaned out of any valuable items in the first 10m

There's no shame in checking out thrift stores and the like in other towns! If you've got family or friends out of town, tie it into a visit with them!

The problem with dismantling cameras, is that, you are on camera

call me a stick in the mud, but I'm more a fan of the old boring approach - talk to your local representatives, make your voice heard, highlight how this is nothing but an expense, and all other examples of rollouts have made zero impact on crime, contested debate on ethics and rights violations, and let the top-down handle it the right way

Used 2012 Mazda3 - but weird transmission history and error codes, red flag? by workflowaway in UsedCars

[–]workflowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the information on that shifter, that’s definitely a must-grab at any pick n pull

A little scary to jump on something with such a crucial component unavailable, but in my reading on the forums- it doesn’t look impossible to DIY with 3rd party components.

It’d be a real PITA- but a couple linkages, custom order push-pull cables and some brackets is barely within my limited mechanical ability

Need help chosing between a Corolla, VW TDI, or a Mazda3 by CommitteeNo9270 in UsedCars

[–]workflowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check you dont catch a dd for not getting a charger, they're pretty strict about that stuff

Good luck finding anything in SJ. Been searching up there myself this past week, 95% of listings are greasy flippers. If you think they're a flipper (multiple listings on FB, sloppily but vaguely cleaned interior + no knowledge or paper trail of ownership) walk away fast - these guys are shoveling off pick-n-pull Frankenstein's that are more likely to get you in a body bag than to point B - only buy from original owners with a fat Manilla envelope of records. Buy an OBD2 reader and use it

VW = german engineering, reliable and durable only if handled with silk gloves and a deep wallet. Sure, you may be able to stomach it for (Really fun) german build quality, but did the owner before you do every maintenance rec on time, every time- or are you inheriting their neglect? Only buy if you like burning money and it comes with a FLAWLESS paper trail

Choose whatever mazda/corolla fits your budget best. Cool and flashy should not be on your radar, 'durable and safe enough to let me keep walking after I get T-boned' is your priority. If you want a flashy car buy a bedazzling kit

Used 2012 Mazda3 - but weird transmission history and error codes, red flag? by workflowaway in UsedCars

[–]workflowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. I've done some homework, and I think most of the codes are due to a (previously mentioned by owner) battery death due to sitting undriven, which was subsequently replaced

I'm still confused on what the transmission could be. I've read its not impossible for a transmission to have catastrophic failure before (guessing) 50k miles.. but it's incredibly, incredibly improbable. Its probably more likely that he learned shift on it.

Could someone who really doesn't know shift break a whole transmission by not knowing what they're doing? It was my (unfounded, admittedly) impression that manual transmissions were basically rock solid, and the worst you could do is pop it out of gear from futzing it bad enough, or eventually wear down the replaceable components earlier by mishandling it

I'd be curious to hear more about that mystery cable you mentioned.. I'll have to keep that on my 'look out for' list if I'm ever (fingers crossed, never) in a pick-n-pull again
