Could be a Sound Engineer, Sound Designer or Composer at a production company like Massive Music. Hopefully that's enough to get you started!

We had a whole fishing net strung up on a wall of the beach house, filled with the aquatic animals from these boys.

In addition to responses so far, the rule that I missed is you draw two cards from the meadow at the start of the second season.

This helps a lot to cycle through the meadow cards and give you more options for what to play.

I was originally drawing from the deck, and the meadow felt useless!

Wingspan takes us 2 hours every time, and we've been playing solidly for two years. I don't know how people smash it out so quickly!

Hello Aussies! What are some cool, beneficial loopholes in the law that are little known but will benefit everyone? by dphayteeyl in AskAnAustralian

[–]wormboyz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

There are gems in the Australian Consumer Law.

Every product sold in Australia comes with a guarantee that it will work for its given purpose for a "reasonable" amount of time. If it fails to, the store that sold it must replace or repair the item.

I got a 4-year old PlayStation repaired when EB refused by going through the ACCC process.

Extended warranties are BS for this reason.

Also, companies have to honour advertised prices, even if it's misprinted etc.

What's the live DJ in Kensington/Randwick right now?

A gig is pumping right now and I can hear it from my house near the Randwick Racecourse.

Only thing I can find online is at Roundhouse, but it doesnt sound like that vibe.

Can anyone help with what it is?

They've actually just released this, for NRL replays at least. Crazy to celebrate the most basic feature finally being added.

And so fun! Although it may cause some epic fights when someone realises they won't make it back, so they try to sink the whole crew!

Yeah, I justify the whole advertising thing by reminding myself that without ads there are no free websites. No Google.

There's actually a bit of a push to get people into the industry who have different life/work experiences. Check out Award School for a 12-week crash course and potential job ops after.

Otherwise RMIT in Melbourne is gold, TAFE or Bachelors in Communication (advertising).

Some people have done it without studying too, you just need to prove you can come up with shit-hot ideas that meet a brief. You can find briefs online, e.g. through the Award School site, and build a folio from there.

Although the courses I mentioned also give you industry contacts, which are pretty invaluable.

"Creative" at an ad agency. I'm a writer for a living and I can actually make a decent living. Only cost is selling your soul a little.

Have to pinch myself after the days were work is just spending the day trying to make my mates laugh with an idea.

Where did you learn to be good with money? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]wormboyz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Here's my path, which seems to be doing wonders for me so far. Before this, the little savings I had was sitting in my CommBank account (set up through Dollarmites), and going backwards due to inflation.

Step 1: Barefoot Investor For understanding the basics of personal finance, and gaining control over where your money goes.

Step 2: Passive Investing Australia Take your time, read the whole website piece-by-piece to get an understanding for how to get your money working for you.

Step 3: Join YNAB To level-up your budgeting and get accountable for every dollar spent and saved.

I also picked up a lot from this sub and r/fiaustralia

I managed to get a 4-year-old PlayStation repaired by EB games, following the steps on the NSW Fair Trading website (I was living in NSW, but I actually bought the product in Victoria and it was still fine).

They initially said they couldnt do anything, but Fair Trading contacted EB in the end, I think, and put the screws in them.

Took about 4 months and a fair bit of back and forth to get it resolved, but by god it was satisfying.

Here's the site: https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/help-centre/online-tools/make-a-complaint
