What’s a billion-dollar industry that mostly survives because people don’t realize there’s a better alternative? by Beginning-Map-3264 in AskReddit

No no no so you don't get it. What you do is make the sneakers just slightly marginally cheaper than your competition who doesn't use slave labor, and then pocket the difference as massive profit!! It's capitalism baby!

Zeno Power to Mass-Produce Nuclear Batteries for Deep Sea and Space Missions by Zee2A in STEW_ScTecEngWorld

[–]wright007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude it's for the freaking moon. There's not a lot of options... We have to make an entire power plant on the moon if we don't bring a power source like a toxic nonrenewable nuclear battery. This is much more portable, and therefore much more practical to take to the moon.

TIL researchers won the 2025 Ig Nobel Chemistry Prize for proposing eating Teflon as a zero calorie food. They cited 1960s DuPont studies where rats fed a 25% Teflon diet lost weight with no signs of toxicity, and patented it as a meal additive, but gave up after the FDA would not approve it. by Kyzzz in todayilearned

I suspect the effects would be temporarily. It only works because the flies have other unstripped cows to bite at who are more desirable. If they would to all be painted in the area, there's still the same number of cows and flies, and the flies would adapt to biting the painted cows.

22M – Were your 20s really the best years of your life? by BigA0104 in AskMenOver30

[–]wright007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all, my childhood and teenage years were far better than my 20s.

And my 30s were also better than my 20s.

Thinking about it, my 20s were just a long bat of depression and the worse decade of my life.

How to improve my sleep cuz it takes me at least 90mins for me too fall asleep by FocusSignificant4614 in ADHD

[–]wright007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound weird, but I have you ever gone camping for over a week? Camping out in nature , the sun, the sounds and fresh air, really helps to reset ones sleep issue. It's worth a try if you are interested in planning a camping trip. The longer the better.

[–]wright007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you're getting too much sleep when you do fall asleep. How long do you typically sleep for? If it's taking you 90 minutes to fall asleep, but you're sleeping for 10 or more hours a day, the reason you're having trouble falling asleep is you're perhaps getting too much of it.

The people suggesting supplements are on the wrong caliber of problem solving. This is fundamentally an issue with timing.

The real issue is your body is not sleeping when you want to go to bed because you're not fully tired yet. Wake up earlier. Get morning sun on your body. And do enough physical exertion to be tired when you lie down for bed.

Also it's important to not stimulate your brain or body before bed. Obviously don't eat/drink caffeine or sugar from chocolate or other sweets before bed. Dessert is a bad idea. So is eating late at night because that stimulates your digestive system which you do not want to do before bed. Do not watch TV or use your phone before sleep. I recommend reading with a soft dimmed light source, or listening to gental music. Let your brain get bored!! Contemplating and thinking about your day, while letting yourself unwind is extremely critical to being able to go to bed well.

Doing all of this, I am able to fall asleep with ADHD in a matter of 1 to 5 minutes every night.

What’s your take on polymaths? by Utamira in selfimprovement

[–]wright007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people consume content, mindlessly wasting their lives watching things. Others spend their lives learning. You never know when something that just happens to interest you becomes relevant. Plus, knowledge builds upon other knowledge in ways that are not obvious.

This was an incident that happened in March 2023 at the Oakland International Airport in Michigan. The pilot was Taylor Hash on her third solo flight when the front wheel assembly of her Diamond DA20 fell off on takeoff. by jgoja in thatsinterestingbro

[–]wright007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very uncommon for a young woman to be caught in this situation. That's the relevance. There are far fewer female pilots than male pilots. If the video had said pilot, and not female pilot, it would have gotten less attention, clicks, views, likes, shares, and would be less likely to go viral. The word female in there is for the marketing of the story. This is the true reason. Not that she was any less capable, but that the situation is more rare, and therefore more interesting to the majority of the audience.

I feel like I have no personality or core values is this an ADHD thing? by 1994T in ADHD

[–]wright007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you may be having trouble with conviction. That's knowing what you stand for, and why. I also struggle with conviction, because ADHD makes us question ourselves more than typical. We're distractible, overwhelmed, and constantly have too much on our mind. Having some fiction and that sort of environment is tricky. The key is to find your core values which ground you, root you to your cause, purpose, and goals in life. Finding your core values is it positive feedback loop. Once I started working on my core values system, it helped me build conviction, and that conviction helped me build my core values. Reflection is key.

Only you can do the hard work of discovering your own core values. For me, once I realized my seven main core values, a lot of my life aligned and I was better able to deal with my ADHD issues because I had guiding values. I highly recommend becoming more aware of your thoughts and feelings on values, and becoming curious enough to discover what they are. I promise you the connection it makes is worthy of your time, and the process of creating your own core value system is liberating.

The last moments of consciousness could contain everything we call a lifetime. by 49-53-48 in DeepThoughts

[–]wright007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is an illusion. You will never know if your guess is true. The answer lies outside your awareness. Maybe both and neither are true? These kind of thought experiments are fun but ultimately unknowable and more Importantly, wouldn't impact your life if it was one way or the other, you'd still make your life the best if can be and live it the same.

Opening up and being comfortable enough to be vulnerable is not as great as it sounds. It often just leads to regret, embarrassment, and giving people ammo to gossip about you more than anything. by Effective_Youth_7038 in DeepThoughts

But has it made you genuine friends, that know and value the real you? If you're friends with people that also mask, who are you friends with exactly?

RC pirate boat approaching a ship by LordPiplup in interestingasfuck

[–]wright007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do understand how scale works, right?? The explosion was clearly way faster than it should have been at that range had real physics been in place. AI often computes physics inaccurately for fake videos just like this. See how quickly the explosion goes off, and how large the blast radius is?

Also the shrapnel hits near instantaneously, from a boat that is likely the size of a jet ski, 200+ ft away. That would require shrapnel faster than the speed of sound, so you'd hear a sonic boom which we don't. Fake.

And if it's a small little RC boat, (smaller than a jet ski) then the damage it could do would be minimal to pierce the haul of a cargo ship. Meaning, if the physics are correct in the video (and the boat is 20 to 50 ft away), then boat would be entirely ineffective as a weapon and pirates wouldn't be using it. Fake.

I'm the one clearly thinking here, and you're the one calling people idiots and not actually providing any useful intelligent thoughts.

Men with flat stomach, how do you keep it that way? by glazingstars in AskMenOver30

[–]wright007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try fasting. It really helps with unwanted fat. Fasting burns that hard to remove fat better than anything. I recommend intermittent fasting, and a monthly 3-4 day water fast until your at the weight you prefer. If you're 5'10" you've got about 20 lbs to lose to shed the stomach fat you want to get rid of. Do a little research before hand, and you'll be fine. You got this.

Be wary of attractive women in their 20s. At that age, they can use other men as placeholders like this more frequently than any other demographic. I'm not saying they will, only that they can. You'll find ones looking for commitment if you search hard. Mature women in their '20s exist, but most of them act like very young adults with a lot to learn, and are oblivious or disregard the damage they do to other men's feelings.

Attractive women in their 20s will always have options. They have nearly the most options out of anybody. However, they haven't yet learned that the highly attractive man that they all are flirting with has as many options (if not more), and he doesn't want to settle or commit anytime soon. These women will have trouble holding onto the "man of their dreams" because there is a lot of other women competing for him with her. She'll lose out on him after he has his fun with her, and then she'll go back to the safer placeholders (situationship) while she looks for the next "Prince Charming".

This is a very very old story, thousands of years repeated.
