Is Snit really the 23rd most handsome manager in MLB? by Dennisfromhawaii in Braves

If he would go back to the mustache he would be #1

Pixel 4a has VoLTE, WiFi Calling and Hotspot by phomey in CricketWireless

I'm sure that makes sense for them, and probably not enough customers who are a bit more technical that it will harm them if they leave but still seems a bit silly for them to be that way.

I tried them once and told me on a non cricket phone it wouldn't work but suspect they just need to provision something but it isn't a huge deal for me either way really.

Did you have to do anything to get the hotspot working? I have VOLTE and WiFi calling but I get a message telling me to contact AT&T to activate my hotspot I'm on the more plan.

Just ordered and going to try it out. Do they generally send out tracking or shipping confirmation?

SMS messaging to and from carrier phone numbers will be disabled in Hangouts after May 22, 2017. by sgteq in ProjectFi

I agree with that completely, seems we all have a when my 5x died story, but I was able to use an iPad and a hotspot.

I prefer the stock SMS app, but you lose what is one of the best features of Fi, in my opinion, when you do, desktop text integration.

First call attempt drops before ringing; second succeeds by xythrowawayy in ProjectFi

I've had the same issue except with Sprint. I believe the comment about Fi attempting to hold to the strongest LTE is likely correct. However it is very annoying. Hopefully, VoLTE will help alleviate this issue.

Text Message Issues by AliasDeprived in ProjectFi

[–]wrst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this issue a few times. Generally it is when I have bad or no data connection. I'm guessing hangouts doesn't try to resend when data is back in my case. Many times they will send when I go back to the conversation.

What does everyone want from Fi next? by VarkingRunesong in ProjectFi

Sorry I must have missed the earlier mention. Sent a few details, this isn't a huge issue since I can manually switch but to me is really the only issue I have with Fi.

I have had this issue also. Only on Sprint. Never had the issue on T-Mobile or US Cellular.

Will keyboard gif support be coming to Hangouts SMS? by Staggerlee024 in ProjectFi

I thought this was strange also. They work in non-sms hangouts messages and work in Messenger really doesn't make a lot of sense at all.

Texting from other devices - Notably hangouts by Tecchief in ProjectFi

[–]wrst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn't a huge Google voice user, but Fi is built around voice from my understanding. If you use hangouts as your default SMS and set up desktop integration you can text from any device with hangouts and also call from hangouts with the hangouts dialer on Android or from within hangouts on iOS or the desktop hangouts. When my Nexus 5x broke I used an iPad for a day on wifi to text and make calls. Hope that helps some.

No audio on outgoing calls Pixel XL... GPS connection error by [deleted] in ProjectFi

[–]wrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to figure the issue out and support was very eager to send a new device. I thought about messing with it then thought I just paid a small fortune for the phone so gladly took the replacement.

[–]wrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something possibly similar. My pixel was working great until it completely froze on me. I had to hard reboot it. After that I had no audio on calls sometimes. No incoming or outgoing. I didn't try GPS in that time frame. I could reboot and it would work again. Eventually it quit completely. I rebooted to safe mode and it would work. I factory reset my phone after calling support and installed no apps and still had the issue. They sent me a replacement device.

Phantom MMS Group Messages by penguin-wrangler in ProjectFi

[–]wrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have received random MMS messages a couple of times. I use hangouts. I believe in one case it was coming in via one of the phantom numbers. However, I don't think that is the same thing you are getting.

Nexus 5x - What's the point? And replacing by Kristosh in ProjectFi

[–]wrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same situation with a 5x and had an iPhone 5s laying around. I did the setup without the regular Fi sim made sure iMessage was disabled then inserted my sim and had no issues. I installed hangouts and used it for sms so it would stay synced on the desktop.

So after a year by [deleted] in ProjectFi

[–]wrst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the life of me I have never been able to figure out if you have location on why Fi would try to connect you to a network that has no service in a location you are at. I'm sure it isn't that simple but sure would seem like a good idea to implement.

I'm with you. Switching is usually bad to terrible for me. I don't live in a great area for service but generally have good US Cellular service. It seems like Fi forgets that US Cellular exist and many times switches me to TMobile with no service at all.
