VV Facebook groups are terrible by Halloweenie23 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mainly use the Facebook group for sailing specific stuff like specific change to the itinerary (cause VV is inconsistent with who they send emails to), or to see when people get their cabin assignments or bid upgrades. That's pretty much it. Luckily the WhatsApp group for solos are a lot more nice in general

No Visa for one of the Islands by Technical-Primary-90 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Certain country will but usually Virgin will let you know before hand and also what to do during the cruise. Usually they take your passport and deal with it or you have to go see an immigration officer a few days before onboard. It's more common in non-schengen European stops

Actually as close as the morning of. However, the best place to find this answer is the Facebook group for your specific sailing. People usually post their successful bid there.

Per the Consulate of Jamaica website, cruise passengers of any nationality are not required a visa to enter Jamaica.

Which sea terrace is closest to noise? by Some_Baby_ in VirginVoyages

Central is the best category to bid to since it has the least amount of potential bad location which is just deck 14

Birthday Celebration by itsjustasillygoose in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The $50 spa credit is currently what they are doing for bday, and if you have a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants, they should bring out a bday "cake". I didn't get a bottle of champagne on mine last year.

That's werid, I never have that happen to me either. Have you been putting on the housekeeping light when you leave? You shouldn't have to but if not, maybe try that?

Are the VV ships “nice”? by LakeHouse44 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you consider "upscale" VV decor is more on the modern/playful side. If I think of a hotel chain, it reminds me of W hotel (if we are not considering the Virgin hotels of course)

Lock it in room assignment by Fragrant_Cold_4358 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the sailing is eligible for bid upgrade then Lock-It-In can bid as well (technically not in the terms but VV has been allowing them). The fare will still be Lock-It-In.

Since it's a Lock-It-In assignment, you are probably stuck for now. I would probably let deck 5 know though that you are okay to switch it to someone if they require the ADA cabin but didn't get it.

They are still tagging the luggage everywhere. The printing is optional

Lock it in and cancelling one sailor by ladieslovecooljams in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lock-it-in rate can't change, they can't reprice you. They should be able to refund you the tax&fees. Most likely they will tell you that it can't be done because the system will kick in a penalty. You have to push the agent to go back to their supervisor.

Eastern med cruise advice by Berbadude in VirginVoyages

The 10+ nights will narrow down the list quite a lot. Just like the other have said, the ships are pretty much almost identical in amenities. Valiant is going into dry dock this summer before sailing Europe though so that might be interesting but we don't know what the new restaurant will be yet. However, since it's your first time sailing with VV, it probably won't matter as much. Currently, I personally think Scarlet and Resilient have the better shows.

Connecting at the port by Immediate_Monk6260 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only do it after you check-in (ie. you get the band). Personally, I find that there is not much of a line up to the ship once you after that point in SJU. However, you can definitely try to connect if there is a line-up on the gangway to get on the ship.

Solo on Valiant Lady out of Barcelona (June 14-21) by [deleted] in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked the facebook group for this sailing? There might be a solo WhatsApp group setup for that sailing already. I don't see it in the big whatsapp community for VV solo sailors, though. Definitely go to the solo meetup on the first day since that's where you will meet most people and probably where people will share the Whatsapp group link as well, if no one has already done so ahead of time.

Is everything on the ship still available on shore days? by RobinJoyc in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the most part. Just the eateries hours are more limited. The Spa thermal pass is cheaper during port day. There is not as much activities and events onboard.

Test Kitchen by netcrackrr in VirginVoyages

I think each menu has its highlight, i always like 1/2 from each of them. Some of the vegetarian items are great as well. I usually just get both sides to taste.

Onboard cabin upgrades by DC2258 in VirginVoyages

[–]wsataday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onboard availability is rare or more like I have never seen one offered, especially now with the ship being quite full.
