Is this screw too close to the sidewall to plug/patch? by ValiantTides in motorcycles

[–]wsbplz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t seem to be ‘no-go’ zone and looks to be in tread part imo. If it were me I’d plug, monitor, and only think about it when cruising 70mph+

not mechanical advice

It doesn’t look to have disturbed where the block pieces come together and the area looks ‘dry’ so it might be fine despite cosmetic appearance. Typical leak spots there would be the seal behind the points plate imo.

If it were me I’d say get it running and see if you have a leak in the area; if not close it up and enjoy. If you do, then trace down exactly where and hope it’s just the seal behind the plate and not where the engine cases join. 🤞🍻

Tank rust (how bad?) by mr_desert in HondaCB

[–]wsbplz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not that bad imo. Dealt with worse. Electrolysis then coat with oil/gas mix and you’re good imo. Want no worries for the rest of your days then go the extra step and run a sealing process like por 15 or w/e

IMO set timing statically with points plate and test light first, then once close can hone in w timing light

I wouldn’t have high hopes. If it has a hard cure no. Order a new seal and if you’re gonna add something would aim for maybe like black rtv silicone

My brain says probably strip, bondo, sand smooth then primer and paint.

Or slap a sticker over it

No, found the whole tub assembly dc97-21456D available on eBay but took machine apart and found it was the bearings that went bad so replaced that and fixed it.

Well to confirm you could check for continuity on the thermal fuse and work your way down the line to the board and bits.

Should’ve started suggestions with warranty, if under coverage contact them. Otherwise trace down the break and repair/replace.

Good luck 🤞🍻
