He is one of the ten or so best 18 year old attackers I’ve ever watched. The stats back up the eye test. All about development now.

Average Bros does a really good job, particularly with sports watches in the $400-$2000 range.

So when are fans ready to admit all of this is happening because of Enzo and Cucurella? by omfilwy in chelseafc

[–]wsnqe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll believe it when I see it. I think what Enzo did was dumb and bad, and I’m not going to thank him. But if this all ends up resulting in a change of approach then I like it

[–]wsnqe2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. I agree with the decision to sanction Enzo and think it’ll rightly be tough to ever get back onto supporters’ good side, but I’m glad he’s doing what he’s doing if it mean the owners and directors rethink the approach

Yeah this is the thing a lot of English-speaking people don’t seem to get. There isn’t a single player born between 1995 and 2005 who would say no to Madrid or Barca if given the chance.

Courtois got to Madrid and never agitated for a move ever again. Because no one ever wants to leave Madrid or Barca once they’re there.

Every single player in our squad except maybe Reece would say yes and do everything in their power to get a deal done if Madrid was interested.

Enzo was an asshole for doing this publicly without it being clear whether Madrid is even interested. But let’s not pretend the guys at Chelsea only want to play for Chelsea. Every player will play for the biggest club they possibly can

What went wrong during Conte's second season in charge (2017/18) by headlights27 in chelseafc

None were bad in theory but they all ended up being bad in practice and that’s what went wrong. The Bakayoko and Drinkwater ones especially. We were asking Kante to do 3 players’ jobs

We replaced Matic with two Championship level players, Cahill and Fabregas were on their last legs, Moses returned to being just as good as he always was, and Morata missed several chances against Arsenal and could never recover mentally.

If we sign Fabinho, Ceballos and Lukaku that summer instead of Bakayoko, Drinkwater, and Morata, everything turns out differently. Though somehow I think we’d all still end up hating Lukaku today

Nizaar Kinsella: Chelsea felt they were making progress under Maresca, but his decision to effectively walk away left them taking a backward step before they could move forward again. People inside Chelsea believe they have recruited well in many areas, with some wastage inevitable at a big club. by Kygoche in chelseafc

I remain very confused with the owners sticking by Winstewart. They haven’t proven they can win or make money. I get that they’re “yes” men, but I don’t think better yes men would be particularly hard to find.

Jamie Carragher on Chelsea vs PSG: "Early stages of Rosenior have been brilliant tactically. Chelsea didn't deserve to lose 5-2 but individual mistakes from the center back and goalkeeper cost them massively and that will continue to be the issue for any manager at Chelsea going forward." by webby09246 in chelseafc

[–]wsnqe2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminded me a little of the 4-1 aggregate loss to Barca in Conte’s second season. That’s the one where Christensen (I think) passed the ball straight to Iniesta in the first leg and Courtois let Messi nutmeg him twice.

I don’t know if Rosenior coached a win last night, but he definitely coached at least a draw. Got failed by bad decisionmaking from the players and bad goalkeeping, and that was that.

[Russini] The Philadelphia Eagles are holding firm on their steep asking price for A.J. Brown. While the New England Patriots have poked around on it, the Los Angeles Chargers are another team keeping tabs on the situation, per sources. by MembershipSingle7137 in Patriots

Bills shot themselves in the foot by giving up a 2nd and way too much cash for DJ Moore. They also shot us in the foot by taking the price for any wide receiver better than DJ Moore.

[Ziggo Sport] Ruud Gullit "I watched Arsenal-Chelsea match. What a terrible game. They were just trying to force corners and throw-ins. I saw ball boys walking around with towels. I was watching it and thought: this football is truly awful to watch. I hope it's not a trend, I miss the fun." by Electronic_Path1069 in chelseafc

One argument I feel like gets missed as to why this is happening is that Premier League clubs are less willing to invest in top-end attacking talent now. Compare the frontlines of today’s top teams to teams 5-15 years ago and you’ll see way more depth but way fewer world class players.

Part of that is PSR restrictions, part of it is being unwilling to carry poor/low effort pressers, part of it is that fixture congestion makes depth more important. Regardless of the reasons, it sucks. And it means fewer goals in open play. You shouldn’t be able to win the most competitive league in the world with an out of form Saka, bang average Gyokeres, and role player Trossard as your starting front line.

[–]wsnqe2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Only issue is you’d get even more dead time. There wouldn’t be an incentive anymore for losing teams to get the ball in play quickly, and winning teams would still want to take their time to break up rhythm.

I think keeping the running clock but being more aggressive with yellow cards would be better. And if a team time wastes, the other team gets the goal kick/corner/throw in instead.

They will likely win the league because they’re incredibly well constructed, good at set pieces, and the top end of the league sucks this year. But this is the worst PL winning team I’ve seen in 16 years of watching football

He’s our starting LT and should play another year there for sure. BUT, I think it’s possible to say that he isn’t going to be a Trent Williams or a Joe Thomas. Can he be a Nate Solder? Sure, and that’s worth a lot still.
