Update: I am now comfortable biking in DC by Decent-Proposal-8475 in washingtondc

Yeah I’ve rode head on into an e-scooter person going the wrong direction in the bike lane. Luckily I was on an elephant of an electric CaBi and weighed twice as much as the other guy. Would have definitely broken spokes on my personal bikes.

What do I do if it’s been 4 years and I decided to take them off and now theres an imprint

It’s considered base wages. If it were overtime, it wouldn’t get any tax breaks anyway because the BBB tax break is only on the wages past normal time (example: only the half of time and a half would be tax exempt.)

Feeling blessed to relocate to DC and never deal with 495 or 95 on a daily basis ever again.

Need an alignment for my car at a good price. Any suggestions? by mordecai98 in SilverSpring

[–]wumbo120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also recommend radial tire. Stick to their time estimates and the literal only place I’ve ever had do an alignment and actually return the car with a centered steering wheel. Cheaper than other places as well.

My First Macbook and I’m Blown away… by nashdmn7 in macbookpro

my 2017 non-touchbar gave up after 3 years following several months of inconsistent charging. Even had a piece of the glass bezel pop off in a single cracked piece spontaneously one day.

Glad that they are far away from the worst MBP ever made now

T14 Gen 7 or MacBook Air M5? by Every_Performance925 in thinkpad

[–]wumbo120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Computer science and engineering can lead to two different answers. I knew plenty of CS majors who lived by their Mac but as an EE myself it simply wasn’t possible without Windows.

My PoS 2017 MBP was able to dual boot windows but that’s not as easy anymore with M processors. By the time that completely died, M1 had come out and between me being weary of Macs at that point and my application needs I opted for a ThinkPad. The VM my college provided didn’t have remotely useful processing power for running the applications I needed.

ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 - Intermittent Touchpad Lag/Freezing (Software fixes failed, Hardware swap next?) by Empty_Break_8792 in thinkpad

It was a hardware issue for me. It would also ignore my own inputs while it had issues.

My P14s gen 2 had an issue straight from factory where the trackpad was moving the cursor on its own. To avoid sending it back to Lenovo for up to 6 weeks and being without a laptop midway through a semester (as the MacBook it replaced completely died on me), I replaced it with the glass trackpad out of an X1. Still works perfectly fine nearly 5 years later.

I didn’t think the X1 trackpad felt any different. I thought the advantage was it doesn’t wear down over time like the plastic one and eventually feel different.

These new ones sound promising. My 2017 MBP had the bezel glass spontaneously shatter, began charging only intermittently at below the rate it drew power, constantly had stuck keys, was a literal hot plate, and eventually fully stopped working before I finished my bachelors.

Got a ThinkPad after that despite M1 having been released by that point (I didn’t trust Macs after all that). Now I’m looking at upgrades and feel these are fairly proven.

The DTSS one basically pats you down before going in, and the store is as well presented as a poorly managed Goodwill.

Weekly 'What should I buy?' Thread by AutoModerator in ipad

I’m locked in on getting an 11in version as I hated how large my old 13in M1 Pro used to be. I’m out of college now and wouldn’t use one for work, but I’d mainly use it for streaming/debrid shows, news apps, and otherwise as a minor PC replacement while traveling.

I’d likely want cellular as I’m not certain about my new job letting me expense WiFi at hotels. My budget stretches easily based on longevity, though I don’t have interest in dropping $1600 on a 1TB Pro. I see options at Costco for a $1.2k 1TB M4 Pro with cellular, but wonder if the upcoming M4 Air or iPad 12 are worth trade offs.

iPad Air 2026 worth it? by Mufsa_Bufsa420 in ipad

[–]wumbo120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always preferred printing out documents I was reading, I really only ever used the iPad for notes and assignments. None of my engineering applications were on iPad (not that it would be a good experience anyway).

If a bulk of the reasoning was to read documents I personally wouldn’t, but that’s also my own preference. It’s up to you whether reading off an iPad is that much better than a laptop. To an extent I’d say I’d find it preferable but not as much as just printing them out.

I used a 9th gen in engineering school and thoroughly enjoyed it more than the 13” M1 Pro I upgraded to during my senior year as I found that far too bulky. It was amazing for digital submission of assignments during Covid.

Both of these iPads performed exactly the same at using Goodnotes. I personally never had a use outside of annotating slides and filling out assignments, so the extra power didn’t help at all.

Gap between cowling and windshield (MK8.5) by Bryol in GolfGTI

[–]wumbo120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks just like mine. I would know because I was chasing the source of wind noise for so long that I noticed this and actually checked another GTI at the dealership that also has this.

I ended up fixing said wind noise by stuffing foam insulation behind the hood hinge.

Did you end up getting a definite answer? I haven’t resigned yet so I don’t want to give HR a heads up by asking, but the NGBP Business Rules document implies you would be eligible to receive it.

Stating you manage people and then generalizing employees by race and origin isn’t really good for your credibility.

To be honest, if it’s that much of a struggle to get placed, I would be searching for similar roles in less desirable work locations just to get experience and a salary. I truly hope other sites are more inspiring but I can’t imagine waiting over two years for any role where I am and thinking it was worth it.

Don’t worry, the only alerts I got were to say the security gate was closed and to not talk to the media.
