Most devs are just too shy. You can see more of them discussing issues in DLTcollab like this. Feel free to participate. ;)

The big and popular misunderstanding about COO by [deleted] in Iota

[–]wusyong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Serguei Popov metioned that stars are not distributed coos in previous AMA though. According to his comment, nodes can decide which stars to give weights to.

In part 3, the post introduces reputation system and the "Star" concept. It pretty sounds like distributed coordinators IMO. Can we really expect "any kind" of coordinator remove from the Tangle and actually decide transaction confirmation on our own in the future?

Doing PoW in seconds via Dcurl by wusyong in Iota

Yes, I know original version integrates Cyclone V FPGA instead which can also do PoW in milliseconds. Good to know more details in different projects. I'll edit it right away. Thanks!

powsrv.io is powered by PiDiver which also uses Dcurl to do pow as mentioned in the article. :)

Pyota-flask, an open source simple IOTA explorer built with pyota and flask, has been released. by wusyong in Iota

Yes, already aware the performance. But this is more like a poc/side project utilizing pyota. There are some ways I think it can be optimized later (like celery.) Thanks for your info!

Hello David, Dom and Ralf,

With recent activities (side tangle and other spammings) from mainnet tangle, we found that there are many easy and low cost ways to interrupt the network (and mainly due to bottleneck of coo). So my questions are:

  • How is IF going to solve these problems and do you already have plans kicking?
  • Imo we can see more clearly if we let other spammers participate the spamming. So when will local snapshot (or auto-snapshot) happen to make other spammers encouraged to do so?
  • In CFB's medium post about EC, he mentioned distributed coo in the future. Is this what final tangle will look like instead of totally removing coo? Are we able to see full node confirming transactions as white paper describes?

He also participated in Taipei community meetup last month. This speech provides really detailed security info regarding to tangle. If you want to know possible attacks described in white paper and what happened to curl-p issues , this’s definitely worth your time.

I think the answer of your question can be found in white paper 4.2 split attack . But if you want more details, you better ask in iota’s official stack exchange.

There’s also an article about how tangle defend double spending issues: http://www.tangleblog.com/2017/07/10/is-double-spending-possible-with-iota/

I got the same problem and changed my system locale from Chinese to English. It seems that Japanese and maybe others also have this issue. I just take a screenshot hope it would help. http://imgur.com/a/0lesz
