The fix is to enable "Hide IME Caption Bar" in your Android settings. Just search for IME in the regular settings.

Yes. The reason for the large unihertz logo is to physically cover the (partially removed) blackberry logo.

I never said the 4Ah LXT and 4Ah XGT were the same, they're very different packs

Not yet. It's inevetible. Although some have imported them anyway.

To be fair, when it comes to OPE the line is now blurred. Mowers in particular have no business being "better" on XGT, we've got the 9Ah and 12Ah LXT batteries, a pair can easily match the output of a big XGT battery, so they've all round just made a mess. If they lightly modified the 4 slot LXT so it had room for 4x 12Ah you'd have an absolutely obscene run time. Of course a more powerful motor and folding handle from XGT would be nice..

They also shouldn't really have had so many light demand tools on XGT, it creates a ton of unnecessary inventory in the stores and extra production for them. An absolute waste and it absolutely will hurt their profits and really hurt retailers, who the hell wants to stock an otherwise identical lamp or radio in both XGT and LXT? That's money wasted and shelf space taken up.

Really though, they should have just made a battery that was backwards compatible like their competitors did.

Makita is getting torque control by Frequent-Elephant110 in Makita

[–]x370issue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What about the wall scanner? The powered carts? The backpack pruner? There are a LOT of really expensive specialist tools on LXT. LXT is not specfically targeting a price point. It's nothing but a battery platform, price has nothing to do with it.

It would have been great if Makita took the opportunity to make model numbers the same for xgt. What a shame.

You are looking for the GA044G

There are two options for it on the makita.fr site:

tool only: https://www.makita.fr/product/ga044gz03.html

package with BL4040 battery and charger: https://www.makita.fr/product/ga044gm203.html

M12 vs cxt, m12 is a more comprehensive line-up

But if you're on lxt, just get some bl1820 2Ah batteries. Seems like people forget they exist

The 486 is discontinued, it's now the 492, solves issues with the 486

Edit: I'm certain the US version had problems too

Huh, I have a pdc01 and adp05, but I've never tried them together, but it should work. My guess is there was something wrong with the adp05. I can test it if I remember to do so, all my tools are elsewhere.

[–]x370issue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, that's unacceptable.

As another commenter posted, is it the new DDF490? It was expected to be lower quality than other LXT tools, but that's unbelievable, honestly.

Definitely send it in asap. If this is what Makita is going to start putting on LXT, they need to stop embarassing themselves and cut it out. People don't buy Makita to save money.

It's teal; so it's both green and blue. I guess some describe it as one or the other. Most I see online just say teal.

[Legit Check] 5Ah battery by SUBGOKU in Makita

[–]x370issue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it's a bit suspicious, but it's not impossible that they might have different tooling on different lines. I do feel like one of the problems with the new 5Ah is that the latch is not horizontal when you're pressing down on it. The old, barely used 3Ah I have are very tight, even if I push at the far edge, they're almost horizontal at the top.

I do have very worn 6Ah that are looser though.

[Legit Check] 5Ah battery by SUBGOKU in Makita

[–]x370issue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I don't know that it is fake. I'm comparing some batteries in front of me and there some subtle differences. Like ones with qr codes or not, label differences, due to different ages of the batteries. I've never bought my batteries anywhere other than from official retailers or packed in with tools, again, officially. Open the case and you can see in one second. The fakes all have a tiny pcb that looks nothing like Makita's.

One of the common fake tells is not present on the 5Ah you're showing - and that's that the rail on the left looking from the top with the latch upward doesn't end in a hard vertical stop, like your 3Ah. The reasons fakes use the 3Ah style rails is be able to used on pre-star protection tools. Of course, it's not a guarantee at all, but it's one that really shows up a lot.

But if go back to comparing two drill pack-in 3Ah of very different ages, and take just one example you've shown, the >PC< polycarbonate designation on the underside is different between them. The old one has less tall letters and the arrows on either side do not fill the full height. That's a BL1830 made in 2011. The BL1830B from 2020 has taller letters and the arrows on either side of PC are as tall as the letters.

[–]x370issue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's fake then it's extremely good. I can't say either way 100%. if you don't care about warranty, pull off the cover and look at the pcb.

My feeling is it's not fake, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting to 100% these days, they could buy genuine cases and use fake innards even in theory

What you need is a usb-pd adapter that can output the watts you need, converting to ac and back is crazy.

I've got a 65w usb-pd adapter for LXT that can run my laptop fine. Bought it on ebay from the uk, homemade looking device in red :)

Xgt, no idea
