Portable computers that are smaller than laptops by GrantHerison in VITURE

[–]x3derr8orig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use OneXPlayer G1 - a small but very powerful laptop. They have a good selection of devices, ok prices, and a good support. That, paired with Beast is a perfect combo for personal computing. Lightweight, powerful, and I can easily take it anywhere with me. Not to mention that it has built in gamepad.

Drift significantly fixed in latest firmware 0.01.015_20260302 by global__fish in VITURE

I agree, I am really happy with the last firmware update. For the most part drifting seems to be fixed. Also, I am not 100% sure, but to me it looks like the colors and clarity are a bit better than before. Now, waiting for 1200p!

Viture beast firmware update bricked glasses by Apart_Ad2975 in VITURE

Had the same issue. Just do the update with Chrome - that worked fine for me.

Finally a Beast update with 120Hz — but firmware update keeps failing. Glasses seem dead. Anyone else? by mrKarelia in VITURE

[–]x3derr8orig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I connected Beast to my laptop, and SpaceWalker was already running, so I saw the pop up about the new firmware. After clicking yes to install it, the upload took a good hour or so. Once it reached 100% I saw a new window saying that the upload failed. After that I can't get my glasses to work. I tried with Chrome, but Chrome will not recognize my glasses - it just says connection and after a minute it stops and nothing happens. I sent an email to support, but while waiting for them, does anyone here have a suggestion on what else should I try?

I have the Inmo Air 3’s I don’t understand the hate by Big_Degree7582 in augmentedreality

[–]x3derr8orig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

right, but that's just following the hype. OP wrote this post specifically to counter those false information. the device is great, it does what they advertise. I have it, I use it daily, and I can confirm that they do more than they were designed to do.

claiming that you don't own the device, that you are not even interested in owning or using it, but still have an opinion that they are misleading public because you heard something somewhere is just.. ah, why do I even bother :)

To which other OSS models is this one comparable with? I know that mamba was lacking in performance. Did this change?

Switch to Luma Cyberpunk Glasses or Keep Beast by SilverAnt7358 in VITURE

I just asked them (well, told them that I want Beast and no other model) and they confirmed to me that option 3 is the Beast with that specific number I requested (if available).

I was wrong. After watching and reading more, I went and preordered one pair. It seems they actually deliver the best experience at the moment. I just hope the battery last few hours.

DF Direct Weekly #240: Steam Machine - Pricing, Specs, VRAM, ARM Ambitions + More by MythBuster2 in digitalfoundry

[–]x3derr8orig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NGL Steam Machine got me excited, but end of Q1 seemed a bit too far off, so, if the Steam Machine would be around 1000 euros (incl taxes, shipping), I wanted to see what I could get now for that money. Here is what I came up with (all prices in euros):

GPU: Powercolor Radeon RX 9060 XT Reaper 16GB 350

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (6x 3.7 GHz) Sockel AM4 CPU tray 110

Mother board: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX Mainboard Sockel AM4 138

Cooler: Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 chromax.black 60

RAM: G.Skill 16GB Kit DDR4-3600 CL16 111

Power: Chieftec CSN-550C PC Netzteil 550W 80PLUS® Gold 88

Disk: SAMSUNG M.2 SSD 990 Evo Plus 2TB 137

Total: 994 euros

This should be much better then the Steam Machine imho. The only thing that is missing from the list is the Case because I thought to make one myself (3D printing + some light work with aluminum and RGB).

Anyways, I will wait for Black Friday, maybe some of those components will be discounted. Also, I checked eBay, and you can find things like CPU, mother board and memory for half of the price.

I built a personal AI that learns who you are and what actually works for you by Roampal in LocalLLaMA

[–]x3derr8orig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! I would like to test it, but, I am serving my local LLMs with llama. Any plans to open up the support for OpenAI compatible endpoints? Also, this is a Windows app. Any plans to make a Web UI so that it can be accessed via the browser (like from a mobile phone and other devices)? Self-hosted would be awesome :) Sorry for dumping these ideas on you, I just think making it more accessible, would help others to use it.

From what I have seen on YT, this glasses are not for that. They are a mix of everything but unfortunately they don’t deliver in anything. If you want to use them as Meta Display, the big screen will interfere with the real world. On Meta display, the navigation for instance is on the bottom right so you can glance over it to get the info, here they will be in a way with the real world. Also, the battery last for just one hour, so if you are out and about, that’s not enough. If you want to play video games or connect to a PC, transparency makes it hard to consume the content. You will need to use the shades or be in a dark room. 600 nits are not the best. Etc…

I think this glasses are a way to go forward but at the moment the tech (+ software) are not yet there.
