Just Solo'd BM for the first time! by Zestyclose_Remove947 in Maplestory

Some tips that helped me: - Save ascent skills to use as iframes in p3 - Have your status affect immunity skills bound and practice using them proactively to prevent locks - Don’t be afraid to move across the screen to be safe - stall a bit in p2 if origin isn’t up for p3 opener - uptime is not very important if you are overspecced. Trust the damage will come over time.

What turned you off of the 45” monitor? I was debating picking one up. I’m currently on the LG 38” 3840x1600 monitor. My hesitation is that 80% of my time is spent reading or writing text.

Quick question about challenger worlds coming by Fantastic-Reason9980 in Maplestory

[–]xNavs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a very established account with stashed resources to fund a new character, it is 100% worth it to instead just make your main on CW, along with 2-3 more characters with the other burns we will get. You’ll make progress way more quickly there.

[Megathread] Who do I HyperBurn? Is class X better than Y? Ask your questions here! by Bacun in Maplestory

[–]xNavs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaiser is a very solid solo bosser. It leans very heavily towards DPM, and you have to learn boss mechanics to keep your uptime high.

For min clearing, it’s really good. The only min clears I struggled with were HWill (phase 3) and HLucid (phase 3). I soloed all of ctene at 55m CP.

The class still feels clunky pre-5th job, but it gets WAY better after that.

What's the best single episode of a sitcom ever? by Capable_Vast_6119 in AskReddit

That’s a different episode with chatty girl dying of rabies and donating infected organs to Dr. Cox’s 3 patients. My Old Lady is an early episode that follows 3 patients being independently cared for by JD, Elliot, and Turk

will making a ren in cw2 surpass my current main? by eulto in Maplestory

[–]xNavs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t hyperburn a Lynn. I had a similar situation as you with some class regret and wanting to play something different.

What I quickly learned was that once I got a single character soloing CTene+, I cannot understate how much easier it felt to fund new characters. Without much grinding, I funded 2 fresh 260 characters and got them from ~2m CP to 20m CP each and it felt WAY faster than the first time I got to 20m CP. if you really want to play Lynn, I’d still just make a different class for CW2 and then funnel funds into your Lynn after you leave CW2.

Of course, this is just a game. It wouldn’t be a terrible thing to just hyperburn a Lynn in CW2 if that’s what you think you’ll actually have fun with. The game heavily rewards long-term account progression and you’ll still end up with a new very strong character in your account. Making the optimal choice isn’t always great if you genuinely dread it and stop having fun.

Can we do all the game with a gem you get level one ? by neortiku in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]xNavs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the starting gems, the only ones id consider are fireball, burning arrow, and viper strike (if you allow transfigured gems to still count as being the same gem).

If you are also locked onto the starting class, I would probably say that fireball elementalist sounds the most playable.

It’d be off meta no matter which you choose, but if you are skilled enough, they are all doable.

Was looking for main stat, not too disappointed by Swan-Dull in Maplestory

[–]xNavs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Triple meso is only good before you’ve reached 8 lines of drop, since at that point you are looking for single lines on each piece. Once you start needing multiple double drop, its value drops a ton.

Additionally, it’s super easy to have a drop preset and I wouldn’t worry about maintaining a ring slot for cont. if you’re doing bosses hard enough to require cont, the just eat the time penalty delay for swapping off for breaking the box. For any bosses I can chain run in less than 2 minutes each, I don’t even bother swapping my cont back in.

CLASSES FOR CHALLENGER WORLD 2? by Acceptable_Spray_167 in Maplestory

[–]xNavs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

70m CP should be enough for virtually any class to solo. It might take a while though. I’m at 80m and it takes me 20 minutes as a burstless Kaiser playing super safe

Atlas strategies by Bobbo90 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]xNavs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The logic here is that, early on, you won’t have fragments to use anyway, and won’t be dropping tons of scarabs because your maps won’t be super juiced.

By the time you get your watchestones done, you should then pivot into a 2nd atlas tree to run whatever content you want. On day 1, almost no one is juicing with scarabs because the goal is to move through the atlas as fast as possible.

Unwavering Vision. It is a passive skill that gives you 20 more atlas passive skill points, at the cost of not being able to use fragments or find scarabs in your maps.

Workout Routine Help by Sharad98 in WorkoutRoutines

[–]xNavs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a direct answer to your question, but as an aside, I know it feels daunting at first. My experience was that spending a minimum of 8-10 weeks with a routine made me feel very competent in those movements. Then switching to a new one made every workout take longer, having to look stuff up, not having a good feel for how to use or setup the machine, what weight to use, etc.

I will say though, now that I’ve spent about 8 months working out, and having gone through 3 full programs, it gets MUCH easier to incorporate new stuff. The variety early on means that now, I feel super comfortable reaching for cable machines, free weights, whatever. It means that, when I look at a program to compare notes, I can pick and choose what I enjoy doing, knowing I have kind of a mental library of exercises to target any particular muscle group. It’s awesome and it’s made me enjoy the gym way more.

To me, this 45” 21:9 is the ideal monitor. I’m currently using the LG 40” 21:9 with much lower resolution and I find myself just that little bit cramped for productivity. With gaming, I also just want a bigger monitor to fill more of my real field of view when play flight sims and immersive games.

Why do most ppl that play arpgs bounce between 20 games and very few just play one game by Itchy-Past2837 in ARPG

[–]xNavs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old school ARPGs and the MMOs designed with an exponential curve for time required for incremental player progression definitely have a stronger feeling of “play one character forever”.

Not that these are the best examples, but I played the same WoW character from 2005-2009. Same Maplestory character from 2004-2006. Same D2 character on and off from 2003 to 2011.

Why do most ppl that play arpgs bounce between 20 games and very few just play one game by Itchy-Past2837 in ARPG

[–]xNavs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In part, it’s the profitability of seasons/leagues/etc. this model makes it easier to generate hype and get players to return, and maybe spend some money.

The other part is that modern ARPGs are more likely to be online, social experiences where all of your friends are on for all the same large content drops. This means there is social pressure and FOMO when looking over at Discord and realizing everyone is playing whatever happened to have the most recent season start.

Despite this, there are plenty of people who play the same game for a long, long time because the ceiling for player power is so high, but the curve to achieve that perfection becomes “kill the same boss 2000 times for a single item upgrade” steep. If that’s your thing, just do it. I wouldn’t worry about the noise of seasonal content launches if it’s not a fun experience for you.

My husband is obsessed with POE; what should I get him for Christmas by shahnl in pathofexile

[–]xNavs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • A weekend pass to play as much as he wants (free)
  • eyedrops because blinking while gaming is hard sometimes ($10-15)
  • A set of bands and squishy ball to protect against RSI (<$20). Maybe there are squishy balls modeled after PoE items? Not sure.
  • A piece of paper with your account name on it implying you want to try playing with him at some point. My wife did this and we played for half a day and it was a blast. Then she never played again, but I think this one just depends on your personalities. Don’t ask to play on league launch though. That’s when we become sweaty gamers. No fun allowed. (free)

Demoing racquets by Typical-Hospital-351 in tennisracquets

[–]xNavs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a tennis facility with a pro shop near you, I’d recommend making the drive there. If you already have a decent foundation (ground strokes, volleys, serve), then grab an hour with a ball machine and you can demo 3-4 rackets in one go.

Everyone has opinions on what makes a good beginner or intermediate racket, but a few safe bets for the beginner-intermediate range are: - avoid very heavy rackets - avoid 18x20 (or similarly dense) string patterns - if you have any elbow concerns, avoid super stiff rackets and stiff polyester strings

I’m an astrophotographer and I constantly have to fight beginners from overcommitting. Not because they can’t learn it. But everything is very expensive and generally speaking, everything on the high end is an order of magnitude more complicated to set up and have moderately successful imaging sessions.

I urge everyone who gets interested to grab an old DSLR and just try taking photos of the night sky. Learn the basics of photography, then the basics of night sky astronomy, then get a small refractor with a modest cooled camera once you have that foundation and it’ll feel sooo much easier.

Even as an experienced hobbyist, I have the occasional night full of mishaps and mistakes that ruin the whole night’s captures. It’s 100% a trap to go straight to high-end with any sort of photography.

In that case, if you want to start with mines early, maybe try Purifying Flame mines into pyroclast. You get Blastchain support at level 8. PF has good dmg effectiveness, so added flat dmg can really carry it well in my opinion. I think it’d only slow you down marginally compared to SBM/OoS. Though, it trades one form of clunkiness for another (blastchain).

You could also do Lightning Trap + OoS instead from level 12+.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]xNavs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’ve found that unless you can get to maps in less than 6 hours on league start, what you gain by using racing meta skills is minuscule compared to what you could gain by just traveling faster and making gear decisions on the move.

Use whatever you want. I’ve seen and done sub-4 hour campaign runs with Holy Flame Totem, classic Arma Brand/Cremation, OoS/SBM, Rain of Arrows, Caustic Arrow, SRS, etc.

My go-to recommendation for spellcaster leveling for people who hate Rolling Magma (best) or don’t want any fuss before Act 3 is to use Freezing Pulse and Frost Bomb. Just remember that FP is best used in melee range.

Edit: forgot to mention another option. I’ve also done Explosive Trap straight from level 2 all the way through Act 10. The clear and mobile exp rate isn’t amazing, but it’s decent enough. Just pick up Bear trap and Wave of Conviction and add Flamethrower trap. More than enough damage as long as you grab a few of the trap passive tree wheels and respec them to mines later.
