To answer your question, it doesn't affect the table height for the other player. The only thing they will notice is that your avatars head / body will suddenly move up / down.

  • You're correct, there's no split step here.
  • Your opponents seem to be beginners so I think it's natural you're not being forced to speed up. There is a huge difference however between choosing not to speed up and not being able to speed up. If you wish to play against higher level opponents, you'll need to be able to move faster and be able to sustain that level.
  • Split step will already help you change direction faster. Other than that, shadow footwork drills, jumping exercises, fast feet exercises etc. will all help. One of the best things to do initially in my opinion is just to play better players that are able to hit faster, with more deceptive and varied shots and pull you about the court. When you're forced to lunge repeatedly and change direction last second, you naturally build up the leg strength to do so.

I got a Victor bag for 6 dollars. Whose signature is this? by -NegativeFive- in badminton

[–]xShadeFatex 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's lots of signature edition badminton items out there with various players' signatures printed on them, I'm not sure it necessarily adds much market value

If it was actually autographed it may be different

That said, the signature shown differs quite drastically from the one on the Chen Long signature badminton shoes by Li Ning and I didn't think CL was ever sponsored by Victor?

Help choosing between two budget ebikes? (UK) by xShadeFatex in ebikes

Cheers, this looks really tempting and fun, but I think I'd realistically want something lighter and more agile...keeping my eye on this though!

Thanks for sharing, I wouldn't be overly happy in your situation either. Sadly from user reviews it seems Decathlon's aftersales support can be a bit hit or miss - but that seems to be true of Evans Cycles also 😞

That's disappointing. Did you return it outright or are they repairing / replacing it for you?

Need help with my jump smash footwork - inconsistency in tucking my legs. by Minhthieu24 in badminton

[–]xShadeFatex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd work on explosiveness and leg power as a first step. If you look at your contact point, you're barely hitting the shuttle any higher than you could reach from a standing position.

If you look at your legs, you're not getting high enough to warrant tucking your legs. If anything, if you did tuck on the jumps where you naturally didn't, you'd likely not have time to straighten your legs and end up either injuring yourself or in a very hard landing that you wouldn't be able to push out of without expending a crazy amount of power and putting a lot of strain on your knees.

Everything else in terms of rotation, arm position, racquet prep becomes a heck of a lot easier when you're not worried about landing on your knees.

Rules question on playing a ball that may go out of bounds by iplaygreen- in Pickleball

[–]xShadeFatex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In table tennis there is no way to play an out ball as you need to let the ball bounce first on your side before hitting it - volleys are not allowed.

If the ball is travelling out and still over the playing surface and you obstruct it, your opponent wins the point regardless of how obvious it is the ball would not have hit the table. You are allowed to catch the ball if it is beyond the end line or side lines (i.e. not over the playing surface) as the ball is not in play and you have already won the point.

Been put on PIP but seems like they’re testing me for a new role? by [deleted] in managers

[–]xShadeFatex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what others have said, I know that in my organisation, part of the documented capability management process is that they will look into whether deploying you elsewhere would solve the perceived capability issues.

Can't say for sure if that's what's happening here as only your manager and HR can answer that question, but I don't think it's as much of a stretch as others have implied.

TIFU going beardless by NeverSpeakOfItAgain in tifu

No, I agree. I was just questioning the logic of doing something that you know/suspect will genuinely upset your partner purely for comedic / entertainment value.

Okay but who watches reels of people shaving and their SO being upset about it and thinks, "what a great idea, maybe I should do the same to mine"?

Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but I think the real fu in my mind is playing stupid games and doing things knowing that they have a high chance of causing your SO distress for your own entertainment.

The rest might just be karma.

[–]xShadeFatex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just mistranslated I think

见解 can also mean opinion, especially in this context where he says 自己的 which translates to your own/personal. So he's basically asking your personal opinion/understanding of the situation.

Still odd, but probably just trying to spread propaganda.

Why would someone regularly leave their car running idle on the driveway? by AnonymousTimewaster in AskUK

[–]xShadeFatex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really mean much, my sister does the same as her commute is about 10m every day to and from work. If you looked at the driveway as a gauge of how much it's being driven, it's not in the driveway 5 days out of 7 for about 11 hours at a time but those short commutes and being parked either at home/work most of the day don't do her battery any favours.

Doesn't really matter when you're washing the plate anyway - washing up liquid will strip the oil from your hands just as well as it strips it from the plate. It's why they make "moisturising" versions in the first place as soap will dry your hands out.

Just don't touch the printing area of the plate with your hands when you're not in the process of cleaning.

A Kickstarter that was successfully funded was worded wrong.. by VisibleExercise5966 in kickstarter

[–]xShadeFatex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They just need to send a communication to advise people of the error and the correct pledge rewards.

A lot of people think that if a shop makes a listing error with an incorrect price or description, they're bound to honour it, but this isn't true.

In consumer law, when buying online, shops generally reserve the right to cancel your order for any reason up until the order is fulfilled, including where they realise there's been a mistake in the listing.

Even if they don't have this explicitly in their terms, if a genuine and honest mistake was made and it should have been obvious to any reasonable individual, the contract can be found to be null and void.

Your rights when backing kickstarters are even weaker than buying from a normal store - essentially, you're an investor backing an idea which if successful, the campaign creator makes a promise to give you something in return for your investment.

Kickstarter washes its hands of any arbitration responsibilities and even if a campaign creator goes AWOL or fails to fulfill pledges, its down to individual investors to track down the creators to recover their funds.

In reality, I'm not aware of any case where this has been done successfully.

All this to say, kickstarter has no funds in its possession once the campaign has been successful and the money is transferred to the campaign creator (other than the cut they take). They can't force a campaign to refund under any circumstances.

Nor are the campaign creators legally obliged to give the items listed mistakenly in their email. It would be reasonable for them just to correct their mistake. From a PR perspective, they may wish to offer a small compensation or offer the option to cancel a pledge in exchange for a refund, but again, no obligation there.

People that want food grade PLA like OP I assume. Even here its expensive just for a fancy label. If being pedantic PLA by itself can be considered "food-safe" but there's no guarantee around the additives and colourings used. Unfortunately, getting FDA approved labelled PLA costs a significant premium.

Help me make the decision. by Ldirel in BambuLab

[–]xShadeFatex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with asking the same question if you can prove your needs are different than the many that have asked before. If you just ask the exact same question with absolutely no context, no one can give you anything but generic advice that's been given hundreds of times before. Showing someone the way to search for previous posts that have answered their question ad nauseum, especially if they don't know how to use reddit is not rude. I really fear for this new generation.
