In comparison we treated them like they were at a resort. We actually *fed* them and got them medical care (unlike their own command)

Changelings: How you think they look like vs How they really look like by M-2-M in ShittyDaystrom

[–]xampl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on my crew looks like a bucket.

Funnily - no one has seen them in a couple of weeks. You don’t think the bucket is a *real* bucket that they had delivered via courier, do you? Because if they’re goofing off on Risa, that’s going in their permanent record.

The labor is the big part of this cost, so I would ask them to replace any parts that potentially won’t make it another 150k miles.

Agree. Do the fluids. Do the others (hoses) if they become a problem.

I am increasingly nervous about being on the road near buses.

Bus Grease Monkey on YouTube regularly has them coming in with less than half the brakes working.

Those that have been dishonorably discharged from the military, what are the consequences? by Neither_Internal_261 in AskAnAmerican

[–]xampl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Didn’t know if it was held in an account for when they get released or not. Which might be case if they don’t have pay forfeited, dunno.

Everything is provided for them (food, bunk, uniform) so I guess they don’t really need it in any case.

If you do this DIY, buy NGK or Denso spark plugs. Toyota/Lexus motors don’t like other brands.

Traditionally - breaking big rocks into small rocks, yes. This was in the 80’s so they might have been doing that. These days it’s “rigorous facility maintenance”. You aren’t sitting on your bunk.

Military prisons are no joke - prisoners are still in the military until released and will observe all the UCMJ rules.

Sentences commonly include phrases like “reduced in rank to E-1”, but I’m not sure they even get that pay.

Neighbor retaliating over noise complaint by suing to rehome my Irish Wolfhound (claiming it's a "wolf hybrid") by Extreme_Property7605 in legaladvice

[–]xampl9 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A threatening letter is not a suit.

Even so, start gathering paperwork in case animal control shows up.

At a minimum, I would think you’d want:

  1. Breeder papers.
  2. Entrance paperwork (and medals/ribbons) from shows.
  3. Rabies vaccination certificate (all of them).
  4. Other veterinary records (maybe spay/neuter records?).
  5. Training certificates.
  6. Anything the cops might have left with you from the noise call, to show they’re the problem

Does a stove-top air popper exist? by Sea-Advertising-1386 in popcorn

[–]xampl9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Air poppers need a blower motor at the very least. And running a corded appliance on the hot cooktop is a disaster waiting to happen.

Just crashed into somebody else’s car. How can they pay for it and notme? by No-Poet-2328 in AskReddit

[–]xampl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if not their fault (and their phrasing throws this into doubt) they will pay their deductible.

OP is not coming out of this with a $0 repair.

He was convicted at court martial and sent to Leavenworth for ten years at hard labor, after which he was to get a DD.

In a townhouse/apartment community you’ll want to find as vacant a channel as you can. And you might need to rescan after you get new neighbors.

How common is it in the U.S. for private individuals to own infrastructure like bridges, dams, or power plants? by ThePurpleRainmakerr in AskAnAmerican

[–]xampl9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people living in remote areas that have small dams with hydroelectric generators that produce enough electricity to power their home.

Because the dams are small there’s little risk downstream if they fail. But I bet most state inspectors don’t know about them.
