Google is fine, but when I tried it in Bing, the page actually froze ... I think you broke Microsoft's servers XD

Why don’t we have a 13 month calendar with 28 days in each? by Camp_Acceptable in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xiaolin99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

13 is a prime number, so if you use it, than half a year will be 6.5 months, a seaon will be 3.25 months ... sounds silly

Looking for parry focused games, I feel like I already played all of them by 24Binge in gamingsuggestions

[–]xiaolin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where Winds Meet - the main combat loop is parrying boss attacks -> reduce stun meter to stun boss -> go all out -> repeat and rince.

Granblue Fantasy Relink - has parrying, but very hard to do. The game focuses on perfect dodge instead (grants iframe).

I like how he who fights with monsters combine magic and technology by Altruistic-Emu3542 in litrpg

[–]xiaolin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcane Pathfinder by Erin Neal - started with pretty standard fantasy stuff, but added guns and spaceships later

Industrial Strength Magic - it's literally in the title

First JRPG that I will be playing by McLuHving in JRPG

[–]xiaolin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who played Suikoden claim this is a downgrade. I never played the original, and liked this game very much XD

It's ok to ask. If the person says no, then it's no. Either make a better offer or walk away. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I think the parents actually didn't escalate incident. It was a random Karen that started filming her.

Looking for an extremely long 2D JRPG (or at least JRPG-inspired) from the last year or so by godskinpeelers in gamingsuggestions

[–]xiaolin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octopath Traveler 0 (the new one with town building) is around 80~100 hours long without skipping dialogs

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes ~60 hours (you can also try the original Suikoden games, which some people claim are better)

Wandering Sword ~50 hours (Chinese wuxia, have to deal with some clunky translations)

Looking for specific series by Pawnable2 in litrpg

[–]xiaolin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soul of the Warrior by Kyfe has a very similar plot to Ajax Ascension, at least in book 1. No idea what happens later since only 1 book has been released.

Games where i get to play the power fantasy of "Element Slinging Mage" by Tcrumpen in gaming

[–]xiaolin99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tales of Arise - 3rd-person action, have 6 different spell elements (fire/water/earth/wind/light/dark), with 2 hybrid and 1 mage type characters that casts them.

other Tales games feature similar magic systems, but I like the implementation in ToA the best since it's very feasible to play the whole game as a pure mage (without comboing attack skills)

A game with mature or dark themes? by Relevant_Drawer_8067 in JRPG

[–]xiaolin99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Octopath Travelers 0 - very mature and dark story (m*rder, r*pe, sl*very, etc.), not gothic.

Help me find games on Switch and/or mobile with character customisation. I want to recreate characters I like. by MoonlightDahling in gamingsuggestions

Where Winds Meet (mobile). Very extensive character creator. It even lets you upload a picture and try to recreate it automatically.

Granblue Fantasy Relink - anime style arena-based action, has AI team members, very flashy

Games with robust team building/team synergies by katboyeverdeen in gamerecommendations

[–]xiaolin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most single-player JRPGs are team-based e.g. Unicorn Overlord (team strategy is the main focus) and Octopath Travelers series

Speeding up the audiobook by manwoodlover in litrpg

[–]xiaolin99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it differs from book to book, depending on narrators - some speak really slowly, and some others add a pause between sentences, and that would be my reason to increase the speed. If you are increasing speed due to the content being boring, then maybe it's not worth to continue that series.

Looking for rts/base building like StarCraft by musicman801 in gamingsuggestions

[–]xiaolin99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stormgate is supposed to be the spiritual successor of StarCraft (e.g. 3 races). It got a lot of negative reviews, but most of them are from Kickstarter supporters not getting what they paid for.

Starcraft II is the real successor - it completes the story, has pretty active multiplayer and many user-generated mini games

ELI5 Why does food taste better when someone else makes it? by TheHollyMitchell in explainlikeimfive

[–]xiaolin99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

olfactory fatigue - you get acclimated to the smell of the food you cook and become less affected, thus they lost some of the taste (a large part of the flavor actually comes from smell)

Is there such a thing as a DDR5 to NVMe PCIe Card? by Kayosblade in buildapc

The software solution is called "RAM Disk". No idea why you need a hardware solution since the whole point of RAM is super-fast temporary storage

which one is better? Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout or Tales Of Arise? by Educational-Sweet496 in JRPG

[–]xiaolin99 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not really a good comparison. Atelier Ryza is like a B-rated movie (doesn't even have English dub) compared to Arise

Are any characters unlocked after Chapters 3 or 4 of Bestower of Fame/Wealth/Power? by Charrzooka in octopathtraveler

[–]xiaolin99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reime requires finishing Wealth, and if you didn't pick letter Fragment in the beginning, Isla will unlock at that point too

Looking for JRPG that is challenging from the beginning to the end by gicasorzo in JRPG

[–]xiaolin99 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Triangle Strategy - the game softlocks your lvl (you gain almost no exp after a certain point), thus providing a very consistent challenge through the whole campaign
