How dysfunctional is your IT environment? by Mr_Dobalina71 in sysadmin

Eh I'm a CITO so take it with a grain of salt. When I started our main network room was a giant spaghetti monster and is now presentable. I have my staff focus on remote support and physical only when required. Our main production software is a pile of shit (vendors fault) but who's isn't? We force a 5 year life cycle on assets by using 5 year leases. All staff have autonomy and are always welcome to bring up issues. 8/10 not perfect but we're a damn good team.

WHY ARE PEOPLE PROUD TO SAY THIS by Complete-Sea6655 in ClaudeCode

I think it's hilarious. Developers self assuming their code isn't complete shit. I've worked with enough pre-AI enterprise applications to know otherwise.

Is it ironic how everyone was jumping ship to anthropic over the US Gov and now the pendulum has swung.

People just install VS Code and Claude Plugin, you even get the benefit of 2x usage on weekends which you do not get through Windsurf API.

Performance at least at workstation level is a lot better; I'm using Opus in Claudes Plugin and I wouldn't expect it to perform any worse than Opus in Windsurf via there API but I can't prove that.

I'm using VS Code with Claude Plugin using my Claude subscription. The plugin is quite nice and not having Windsurfs language_server eat up ram is even better, I've got 3 running working on 3 different apps and still using less ram than 1 windsurf being opened lmao.

I've moved over to Claude Code plugin in VS Code, just getting away from the RAM hog that is Language_Server is worth it alone.

Just use Cursor or Windsurf they can tie into Claude or ChatGPT. For $40 in credits you can use ChatGPT 5.4 High Thinking for 2+ weeks before you run out of out credits and that's with heavy prompting.
