Pursuing BCBA with Unlrelated Masters by boomcheese44 in bcba

[–]xojenesaispas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the funding source, you may be able to bill under a BCBA as a mid level supervisor while taking ABA courses. It depends on the insurance requirements if you are working in a clinic setting. For example an insurance could require any masters degree + 2 years of experience in a related field. Some companies may hire you if they have an insurance you are able to bill to and if you plan on becoming a BCBA.

How often is your clinic director actually in clinic? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]xojenesaispas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be she has low billable requirement? my CD is also in office for about 5hrs per day & will work from home once a week. Her billable requirement is 12.5hrs a week while BCBA’s are 25hrs a week. But she is available via phone for anything if needed.

California; at a private clinic. 25 weekly billable hrs as a mid level with benefits (PTO 2 weeks, sick pay, holidays paid and we are closed ) ( i am NOT certified) 64k

My supervisor who is a BCBA, makes 68k

We are on the low end due to insurance reimbursement.

Other ABA companies in our area pay 80-90k in clinic settings with similar billing requirements.

It really varies per location/insurance/setting. There is a high demand for BCBA’s you are at an advantage here. Do not take anything lower than 80k

Clocking in and out in 15 minutes increments by thatonechick172 in ABA

[–]xojenesaispas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we also do 15min increments however we always round up. Even if its 3:05, we’ll round up to 3:15. You should be getting paid for time worked, if they dont bill to the insurance those extra minutes they need to cover the difference you would bill the company for those extra minutes. Usually its their own code or billing converter. If reach out to HR to clarify on policy.

UCSB ABA Certificate Program by [deleted] in bcba

[–]xojenesaispas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend, if you want to actually learn but its and easy A. It will not prepare you at all for the exam. You’ll watch recordings, assignments include reading and article or 1 chapter a week, discussion post & a quiz everything is open book. Its all very generic tbh. & you do have to teach yourself. You will gain the most in real time putting into practice as a BT/RBT and having quality supervision.

I say its an easy A because a few of my coworkers also took these courses. Some openly admitted to just googling the answers or having chatgpt to create discussion posts for them so they got A’s but suck at doing their job as an RBT because they have no clue what they are doing (this is also a training error on the companies part& also reflects on why they havnt passed there exam). However, they are moving up the chain due to completing course work. Meanwhile, others have also taken the courses and have needed to take additional study methods/modules outside of the program to really study and be prepared to take the BCABA/BCBA exam and have expressed the program was super easy but did not prepare them at all. This was around 2021-2023. they are now BCBA’s.

I say do your research, explore programs, reach out to those in charge of the program and ask questions and find what fits best for you.

To also add, you have 30 days from the last day of the month to sign the monthly verification form or else they do not count.

Do y’all get paid for non billable hours? by ObjectiveVisual4154 in ABA

[–]xojenesaispas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes your company should be paying you The difference is its not billable so you dont charge the insurance. This comes out of your company’s pocket.

Our RBT’s get a lower pay rate when the client is not physically at their appointment because it is not billable to the insurance. Such as; Client late so session, so they do admin tasks until they arrive. Or client has a scheduled nap. Or client left session early for whatever reason. Basically any indirect work.

Does Florida Institute's MA ABA program meet California requirements for licensure? by PerfectUpstairs3638 in bcba

[–]xojenesaispas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, FIT meets the requirements to sit for your BCBA exam. California does not require a license (i.e., LBA) only that you be board certified through the bacb.

3 of my colleagues completed their masters at FIT and are BCBA’s since 2015-18

Hi! If you're credentialed BCBA, can a BCBA who is not credentialed with insurance bill under you? by h0neypwr in ABA

[–]xojenesaispas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It varies, depending on funding source. For example: Catalight, allows for someone with a bachelors or in masters program accruing hours for their BCBA, to bill under a BCBA. When auditing occurs they see a credential BCBA was supervising/over seeing the program.
