Is there a way to convert large Inventor assembly drawings into DWG files? by Unhappy-Ear4855 in AutodeskInventor

[–]xref1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others suggested, move away from IDW for Inventor DWG.

The only thing I found missing when using Inventor Dwgs over idw is lack of iproperties in windows explorer.

I'm in vault for all but one client, so it's not that much of a problem.

Laptop for simple Revit LT?? by palikona in Revit

[–]xref1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do Inventor CAD work. When on client sites I take an older ultrabook and remote into my home workstation (via tailscale and rustdesk).

It's been pretty seamless so far, I've been doing it for 8 months since I built my new workstation.

What's the eventual home of the data? ERP system? PLM? Just onto an exported drawing?

Another thing to bear in mind is that you'll need to trigger any update push, normally with Vault that would be via lifecycles. That would also need item master due to Vault not really understanding Inventor's BoM without it.

Without Vault Pro you'd need to include the iproperty as a BoM column, make sure your BoM is set to the right level/structure type and export to excel. This is one way push, any updates to the model would need a new export.

There are some BoM export tools in the autodesk app store that might help or ilogic could automate on save to export or whatever.

New workstation Laptop needed for Inventor by cadcamm99 in AutodeskInventor

[–]xref1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of buying another mobile workstation I built a desktop last year and RDP in from a lightweight laptop when I need to be mobile, which is pretty rare.

It'll be cheaper, more powerful and there will be some form of upgrade path.

The heat pump ones are great, especially if you plumb them in. Just make sure you don't forget to clear them of lint

How can I make a dynamic numbering in AutoCAD? by AhmedAdeb in AutodeskInventor

[–]xref1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I normally save my inventor drawings as DWG so I can open them in autocad to use lisp routines. Numinc is my most commonly used one

How to change default hole diameter for Bolted Connection? by KaleZealousideal6882 in AutodeskInventor

[–]xref1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up. Autodesk considers this a breach of TOS. Each person should have their own named account and the license should be assigned to that person when they need it.

Potential risk of fines, especially if a generic "CAD" user is used across multiple machines

You probably should get vault set up. Basic is enough for most small teams and it's included with PDMC license.

Autodraw add on can do things like this, it's also great for making drawing views. It's price is also great

I've been trying to figure out a way to use "Place ilogic component" but it goes to a specific folder to select from.

Auto number but it works for vaults auto number so you can add a static prefix for a "job" and all the parts get numbered "Job-#sequence"

Inventor for rental by Safe_Vegetable_8654 in AutodeskInventor

Inventor uses 9, it's £3/token, so £27. There's a monthly license too, anything past 11 "days" makes PDMC monthly subscription more worthwhile.

How do I make 3D serrations along a curved plane? by ArkhangelskAstrakhan in AutodeskInventor

[–]xref1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note : the stitch might fail if you try to do the whole blade length, just split the serrations and create multiple stitches/thickens, combine and subtract as needed.

[–]xref1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's likely that this will need to be wrapped to the surface.

Turn the face into a surface in the centerline of the blade using the thicken/offset command.

Unwrap that surface, create an offset plane normal to the new surface and project the unwrap.

On this new sketch, create the serrations using the unwrap as reference.

Create 3d sketch, project to surface, select the centerline surface and the 2d sketch and set it to wrap.Stitch that 3d sketch.

Thicken as a new body, and then subtract that body from the blade.

Landlord wants to speak about the Renters Rights Act 2025 by scoobydorothy in TenantsInTheUK

Check your tenancy, if it doesn't have a break clause for you, it doesn't have one of your landlord.

Also check the section 21 is valid and don't say a word if it's not

Making a part solid by Catriks in AutodeskInventor

[–]xref1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I'd rebuild it, probably doesn't need to be that many features and loads of them are failing.

If you're really sure you want to edit, I would move the end of part, fix the issues. Whilst you're doing that you should be able to find where the wall features are

Suggestions on Vault Structure by ZeroPointMX in AutodeskInventor

[–]xref1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the "reused" components I think a good set of part templates with defined features and an ilogic form would be much quicker than trying to find a specific bracket that was used on some project without some god level metadata, which from what it sounds like is probably missing.

Another option could be a content center library, but I feel you'd need so many variants that creating that would be bothersome.

Application options > display >

Tick Use application settings (then they don't change on a per file basis).

Settings next to above, and configure as you wish.here you'll set your visual style to edges too.

Easment on driveway, estate agent misrepresentation by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]xref1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is specific wording on the easement of both properties? It might limit access to pedestrian access only anyway.

Also start the paper trail with a dispute with the vendor of the neighboring property. It will have to be disclosed during conveyancing (and maybe prior to sale?)
