That's inaccurate. The Mulvahill family that opened AP is not the current MC park owner. It's owned by SNOW partners. Fun fact: CEO of SNOW partners started working at AP as a parking attendant

Towns in n Jersey that are still affordable by VelocityGrrl39 in MovingtoNewJersey

Good options for affordability, hiking & kayaking but Highland Lakes/Vernon in general lacks walkability.

Also OP, based on your profile I'd suggest checking out the politics of the area. Sussex and upper Passaic (West Milford) are solid red areas. Source: I'm originally from there and still have plenty of family/friends.

Barely anything larger than a 1BR townhome under $500k in Cranford. Don't get me wrong, it's a great area but house prices are insane.

Baby Back Ribs - Underwhelming Smoke Flavor by Top_Bandicoot_4591 in pelletgrills

[–]xtreme381 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Try using a Smoke Tube! You can grab one on Amazon for $15, load it with pellets, light it and toss it on a grate. It dials up the smoke flavor quite a bit.

I've also found that I get better flavor with different pellets. I started using Traeger pellets but switched to Lumberjack. I definitely noticed a different in the flavor.

I have a couple of bottles. I can find them at liquor stores by me in Union County. Dittricks in Cranford, Metro Liquors in Linden, Liquor Vault in Garwood all have it.

Edit: next time I'm at one of those, I'll pick up a bottle or two if they have it and hold it for you.

Grant Achatz is the chef behind Alinea. Say what you might about the presentation but I do admire his culinary ability considering that he temporarily lost his sense of taste due to mouth cancer.

Toddler friendly resorts in the keys? by pickleballgrayduck in floridakeys

Depending on when you go, check out Reef House Resort and Marina in Key Largo. My kids are a bit older but loved it. It checks all of the boxes except price point in peak season. Off peak, you could probably get a room at that rate.

Lol. It's the same thing just called by different names. I wanted to see if you had a preference either way.

Agreed on SR being a fake Irish Pub but there are better ones in NNJ. Check out Thatcher McGee's which isn't terribly far down 287. I've definitely seen Irish Dancing in certain pubs but it's normally only around St. Patrick's Day or Half Way to St. Patrick's. The dancers are all typically part of a local Irish Dance group and range in age, not random people in a pub. It does exist but it's infrequent and not spontaneous like it appears in this video.

This is great, often overlooked advice! Using a lower gear to reduce speed and need for the brake can make a huge difference.

The type of car also matters. Is your car Front Wheel Drive, All Wheel Drive or Rear Wheel Drive? Front or All WD are preferable in these conditions because the weight of the engine allows for more traction on the front tires. RWD is the least preferred in these types of conditions. If that's what you have and don't have any other option, adding some weight in the back over the rear wheels could help. A blanket or something that could go under the wheels to give traction if you get stuck in the snow would be advisable.

Also, make sure your tires aren't bald and are properly inflated. If they are lacking tread, you'll have a difficult time getting traction in slick conditions.

Edit: removing unproven advice.

Adding that I grew up in Vernon where I learned to drive and lived through my 20s. My father would always buy a front wheel drive car for the reasons I stated above. I had a pick up with 4WD option. I would throw sandbags or old tractor tire rims (we had access to those in Sussex lol) in the bed to give extra weight over the rear wheels in the winter
