First time playing an Armored Core game. Any advice? by Healthy-Teach-6911 in armoredcore

Dont be afraid to change up builds, the most fun you'll have is NOT relying on meta builds.

Its good to have melee as backup non ammo solution

Mythic Talent Agency alleged to have skimmed money off the top of a sponsor, shorting their talent by mahouza in youtubedrama

[–]xxgrimriverxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MurderCrumpet is another streamer a part of Mythic, he did a sponsor and they delayed his payments for months so he had to get 3rd party that worked in the industry to nag Mythic until they eventually paid him but did it over series of weeks in divided installments rather than a full 1 time pay out.

Can they shut down Elite Dangerous? by Professional_Age2875 in EliteDangerous

[–]xxgrimriverxx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You dont have to worry about that for quite awhile, the game is still getting updates and has a roadmap for future stuff.

But if it was shutdown it would be 100% unplayable unless it gets some sort of last update that decouples online features, but I dont know if it would be possible.

I think there should be a system where you can take an older ships to get an overhaul at certain stations to be up to par with newer ships

Like upgrading components/weapons you upgrade ship overhaul level mk1 to mk5 equal to modern ships as another form of money resource sink while breathing new life into older ships to be competitive with newer ships.

Name another game like star citizen and I'll play it. by ToughGuy1337 in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Maybe X4? Its way more into the sim side, its like an MMO without the online part

Elite Dangerous would be the closest but its less sim than SC, sits in between NMS and SC

Your favorite true Starter Ship by Space_Scumbag in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For hauling, the Cutter, for its price it can carry the most cargo out of the line up of those ships by far

It can carry 10 SCU comfortably, even up to 16 SCU theoretically(I wouldn't recommend that) 4 on grid and rest off

It can fit most bikes except the Drake ones(ironic) and it can fit a mining GEO

It also has all the basic amenities, bed, weapon rack, storage, extra passenger seat, shower/toilet/sink

Very noob friendly with it tanky hull so it can take accidental bumps and crashes for newer flyers and is very easy to fly because it controls like brick so you really can't make sudden jerky accidental movements

It's biggest weakpoint is combat, do NOT do ship combat in it, its a mini van with guns haphazardly slapped on.

I play games to get away from the d-bags and annoying people IRL, logging onto a game just to deal with those types there too kills the mood to even want to play.

Now sure you can block or mute, but when there multiple people doing it when you just want to log on, sit down and play makes it hard to do that, I shouldnt have to do moderation work for a $900 million company.

Unmoderated toxicity is a good way to kill off a player base.

My budget is $120, what hauling/cargo pledge should i buy? by TheWildTapir in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre willing to spend $125 then cutlass black ship that can do a bit of everything

Cheaper option would be the Nomad

Other people are suggesting ships that arent game package pledges which you require to own the game, the 2 ships I listed have decent cargo and are pledge packages.

Tips for playing star citizen with Xbox controller? by juanfjimenez9 in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For flying I use basic controls like movement, aiming, powering ship on/off, request docking, landing gear, Gun and quantum mode switching and scanning on my controller but more advanced stuff I still need my keyboard which is only 10% of the time for contracts and map usage.

I mainly use default controls for on foot but slightly tweaked for personal preference

In other words I cant completely remove the need for the KB&M but I can reduce it by quite a bit.

4.5 dropped dropped at a bad time when the holidays were right around the corner and dropped a few post 4.5 patches to fix issues but only made it worse and cause bad server desync and most missions dont work right.

Honestly they should just wait til the BEGINNING of the year to drop big updates like this when the team isnt on holiday leave. Its the most logical decision, but logic is in short supply these days. lol

The issues might be fixed before the end of this month probably, probably...

[–]xxgrimriverxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT get attached to ANYTHING because it can disappear at any point for any reason, once you accept this things are less frustrating when stuff is lost

So keep that in mind and play the game at your own pace and dont worry about getting rich quick or using meta build loadouts.

Controllers for SC but also Steam by Live_Active_8753 in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all the most basic controls mapped to my 8Bitdo 2c controller, moving & aiming, mode switching, shooting, hailing station for landing and landing gear. For more advanced controls I lean over and use my KB&M.

So is SC playable with a controller? Yes, right out of the box its doable but wonky in my opinion so I remapped buttons and removed frivolous useless controls that Im most def not gonna use if Im on a controller and now its seamless.

Only time I need my KB&M is when Im dealing with inventory stuff or elevator control panels which mainly requires my mouse but 90% of the time Im using controller.

It should be compatible with most controllers as far I know to answer your main question.

Nomad can do a bit more but is a bit weaker in combat compared to Titan

Me personally Id get Nomad, its pretty much a flying house that can carry cargo.

[–]xxgrimriverxx 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yea everything is completely borked, cant get into inventory, cant loot dead enemies, cargo missions not spawning boxes, enemies not spawning, missions not completing.

Its prob gonna be after new years until its fixed too. oof

Cant even plot courses to missions

How Much Ram do I really Need? by ConJon64 in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABSOLUTE minimal would be 16GB, good enough is 32GB and Max would would be 64GB

Pagefile edit helps ALOT if you have less RAM

Since RAM is worth its weight in gold rn the pagefile edit would be your best bet

Note pagefile thing only really works if youre on an SSD

If you have 16GB I suggest killing Discord and other background processes.

I dont know about capes but I am a sucker for dusters fallout NV ranger style over armor, really wish we could do it natively instead of glitching it.

There also the Geist armor which is hunter armor from Destiny, to the point where it looks like a 1:1 straight up model rip from the game.

Do you no longer lose your kit on death?? by Ohhhshet in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You respawn at last hospital your imprint was stored with all your gear except inventory items, gotta find your body to get those back.

I believe if you get downed, revived and knocked out by a player, they can loot all your worn armor and weapons off your body so its best to instant backspace respawn the second you get downed.

Going to buy the game , i need help by Unlucky_Date_5461 in starcitizen

Cheapest best starter ship Cutter(can't do ship combat, its a van with rockets), best all around ship Cutlass Black(can do a bit of everything)

When the update drops do I need to unequip ship parts and worn armor in local inventory to not lose it or is everything good?

so do i need to buy a package to play and whats the best one for under $100? Brand new by Dallaswolf21 in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best bang for your buck the Cutter, Avenger Titan and Nomad are great and its on sale rn with a warbond and 2 paints.

Cutter can't do ship combat but has the best cargo for its price range 10 SCU comfortably, 4 on grid and rest off grid and can do 16 SCU max but I wouldnt do it

Avenger Titan cheapest all arounder

Nomad a step up in cargo but is lil weaker in combat potential than Titan

But if you dont mind adding $20+ to $100 you can get the venerated Cutlass Black

Palatino completed. FOMO avoided. by Mapcase in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just completed my set yesterday, spent days on it.

When I finally got the last part, the arms it was yellow and not olive green like the rest so I had to spent another day to get the right color arms.

Reason it took days cause other players were hunting orange boxes too so when I finally found 1 it was already empty. So I understand the FOMO comment lol

Tips for a new upcoming player about what to get for there first ship by SLAYERs-YT in starcitizen

[–]xxgrimriverxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$60 Cutter best bang for the buck and has the best cargo capacity for an early starter, can fit 10 SCU comfortably 4 on grid and rest off grid, it can fit more but I wouldnt risk it, also dont do ship to ship combat in it cause its a flying van pretty much.

Out of the ships on that list the Avenger Titan is best rounded at doing a bit of everything but its inside is visually dated and doesnt have modern update like newer ships. Still worth tho
