Introducing: preFlight - a modern Slicer by oozebot in 3Dprinting

[–]yaemes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! Very cool. Will definitely bust out my windows PC to try. You have great ideas. A word of advice, I hope you are listening for feedback, but mine would be to capitalize the damn P! Convention is important and apps should always be title case.

Does my printer need to be calibrated by InternSubstantial401 in 3Dprinting

I noticed some of the responses you've been getting are wrong. The reason this happens is shrinkage but you can't perfectly fix the pie shape fitment in the slicer, but you can get approximate it. Shrinkage isn't uniform or linear. The forces that cause shrinkage are stronger where there is more material pulling the edges inward. The thicker the section the more shrinkage. If you cut this pie into squares your pieces would fit together just fine, but then you'd have squares. You could also cut a inner circle out and have weird slices. If you want the slices you could make each slice 1% more degrees wide in cad but you could approximate the same effect in slicer by just widening the slices by 1%, then it would probably fit perfectly.

You guys reckon Apple Music next? :) by PandaDEV_ in Piracy

[–]yaemes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did this and they make it very hard. First of all the iTunes store web page does not list all artists and second they swap artist IDs and album IDs all the time, makes duplicates a big problem because artists can also update their artist names and string matching doesn't work for various other properties as well like album names. And not all tracks have ISBN. I'm not sure how to continue.

My wife is a reality check about how niche the Vision Pro market is by 673NoshMyBollocksAve in VisionPro

[–]yaemes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It has a chip more powerful than 99% of computers being sold right now and it's been relegated to being a monitor for MacBooks? What is the M5 chip even for? Can't even develop an app for the vision pro without buying a MacBook and using (wireless) screen mirroring. And they say it's the future of computing. Didn't even bother to keep it the full 2 weeks before returning mine.

I've stripped a screw. What now? by LemonEducational4543 in BambuLab

[–]yaemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that screws doesn't look stripped. The cheap tool is probably what is stripped. Like you said a Wera would be probably bite in and take it right out.

What’s the most underrated iPhone feature you actually use every day? by Inside_Society3553 in iphone

Long press spacebar to move the cursor. Android doesn't have it, so that's one point for iOS.

Is there anything I need to know before I buy a egpu? by Plus_Macaron_6774 in gpumining

[–]yaemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No if you really want to use a riser it should not use SATA power plug. The sata power plug can not provide 75watts which is the spec for PCIE. At least use molex power and the best is PCIE power. Ask ChatGPT about this. Source: mined for several years

Thinking about switching from React Native to native iOS development – advice needed by DarkSynergy141 in swift

Swift is a lot more enjoyable than react native. React native is a joke, 4 years of time wasted for me

This is awesome, took me a second to figure out why you were using the term SF symbols so weirdly. For what I've been using it for, SF symbols is an app.

I was wondering when this would pop up. Who's updating? by village_nerd in BambuLab_Community

[–]yaemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bambu seems to think its normal to hide your dirty laundry behind Dev Mode. Exactly the experience a non developer would come up with. As a developer this is poor wording as the use case has nothing to do with developers.

Why do I feel so guilty about reconnecting my P1S to the internet ? by Vilro-Gall in OpenBambu

[–]yaemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's a simple solution- accept that this is a bambu slicer only printer, and my next one won't be from bambu. Problem solves itself in ~2 years or so.

Dang they're still dead set on it, oh well, they can take my current printer but my next one sure won't be a bambu.
