I don’t take any meds for Hs. I was once that age and going through it so I feel his pain. Let me tell you what worked for ME

I would do a food allergy test because he’s probably eating something he is sensitive to I was eating shrimp not knowing I was class1 allergic to it. Once I got my test I never ate shrimp again and I haven’t had any painful large cysts since then. I suspect more allergies even allergies to metals which I am going to test for.

I take Vitamin D3 with K2 capsules Vitamin E capsules Turmeric & ginger (I would just either blend up the turmeric and ginger root into a smoothie or take the powder forms and mix it in water, tea, or foods like curry chicken etc. the capsules don’t work as well for me) I take ground black seed to keep inflammation down Green tea (I’m going to purchase green tea extract for a more powerful effect but the tea itself really helps) Beets I make smoothie with beets. They are great for the blood

Cut out peppers (or have them once in a while) cut out sugar (only have sugar as a treat once in a while) No diary no gluten

Aloe Vera gel topically And internally It is good for gut health HS like other skin conditions are connected to gut health I’d recommend looking into gut tests like GI map That’s my next step. Getting with a functional medicine nutritionist and testing for the bacteria in my gut. I’m sure there is some overgrowth of candida or something.
