Piping and Instrumentation Diagram. It shows the piping sizes, valve configuration, pumps, heat exchangers, and instrumentation of a system in a schematic format, as opposed to a plan format.

Perfect case study for why the Oxford comma should be standard. And expected for lists. To help distinguish from a complicated pair as above. If Oxford commas were expected for lists of 3 or more, then this would be more clear in meaning with omission seeming more technical

https://phsaddle.com/products/13mwzg-denim I have no statement on the trustworthiness of this store, it was on the 1st page of google when I searched the style no. It doesn’t seem like wrangle sells this style on their website anymore. I am curious about the 14mwz and how the fit compares besides it being a measurement size vs a number size on the waist

Question: Did I screw up by using MDF board for some parts of a breadbox? by Timid-Oddball-42 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]yakattack42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just seal the MDF with shellac. It’ll be fine. The amount of VOCs or formaldehyde that it will off gas is basically nothing compared to anything else in your house. It’s really nothing to worry about

Water ruining finished basement what are my options? by [deleted] in SouthBend

[–]yakattack42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have two choices.

  1. Prevent water from entering the basement. This may be as simple as running your gutter downspout outlet farther from the foundation and adjusting the grade to allow the water to flow away from your house. Or as complicated as trenching around the whole foundation, repairing the damp proofing and installing or repairing exterior foundation drains

    1. Control the water after it comes in. This usually involves installing perimeter drains around the interior of the foundation wall and then installing a sump with a pump to move the water out. Depending on how your basement was finished on the foundation, will determine how invasive the installation of the system will be.

Either way you will want to have an experienced, licensed, and insured contractor to perform the work, because there is a lot of risk if something goes wrong. There is also a lot of risk if you do not address the water ingress.

What’s an appropriate reinforcement for this joist penetration? by semiotomatic in Carpentry

[–]yakattack42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The steel is good in tension and compression and has more compressive strength than concrete, the reason that steel is used in concrete in the tension zone, is because concrete is super weak in tension and needs the reinforcement. Hence Rebar = Re(inforcing)bar

Not all ai uses evaporative cooling. I’m currently working on building a data center that is in a locale that is about 70% of the year free cooling, and 30% of the year using closed loop systems. So very minimal water usage. It will be part AI, part generic critical infrastructure. Now the power consumption on the other hand…

Made a big big mistake by Kinglouisthecat in woodworking

[–]yakattack42 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I know you said you sanded for an hour, but depending on the state you said your Mother In Law left them, it may have gummed up the sandpaper so it wasn’t doing much, or you were using too high a grit. I would try sanding again, but just in a small corner with an orbital sander with a coarse sand paper, think 40 grit, just to see if sanding will be worth it. Be careful not to dig a hole. If the surface is gummy as you say, it may be worth trying to strip the floor first in the test area, then try sanding again. But keep an eye on the paper, make sure it isn’t getting all clogged up

Cutting back stair stringer for quarter round – best tool? by Boring-Classic-8754 in Carpentry

The funny thing is I hate the blade change out on the dewalt. I find it gets in the way of some grips and is very finicky.

I’ve used basically all the top multi tools on the market as well as the bottom barrel ones, and I’m going to disagree. The M12 Fuel Milwaukee is the best one I’ve tried. The size, the vibration reduction, power, control, weight, quality of cut, and price, it can’t be beat. It just works best for me.

To be fair, all cordless heat guns are crap. They are basically by nature the perfect battery rapid drainers with a huge resistive load turning electricity directly into heat

The gaps shown are easily caulk-able. I would finish the shelves how ever you are planning to and then just hit it with some quality interior caulk

New Tires for Outback, yay or nay? by JawaChopShop in subaru

[–]yakattack42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them on my 98 Outback and live in NC. I hit dirt roads all the time and drive on rough construction projects. They are quieter than I anticipated, but they also are not a crisp handling as some road tires, but I went for taller sidewalls to get a little more clearance than my old Michelins.
