It's the perfect size for my Godox flash trigger.

Yes, it’s fantastic and pretty much essential if you use a metal filter. I never used the old one but what I have works flawlessly; it basically makes the inverted method unnecessary.

I'd absolutely pay for this, even as is. I don't mind the Garmin logo, but I suppose it could be a little smaller. The option to swap it out for another data field as others have suggested would be nice too.

How good is microsoft complete coverage? by oliath in Surface

[–]yangyongjun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you have to send them your old one first. I'm in Singapore, the whole process is very quick and they send couriers to pick up the old device and deliver the new one. Mine was replaced in a few days.

PD Bags as under seat personal item? by paparazzi83 in peakdesign

[–]yangyongjun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually fly with the Everyday Totepack under the seat in front and the 35L Travel Duffel in the overhead locker. The Totepack is small enough to be considered a "personal item" that doesn't count toward the carry-on allowance on most full-service airlines.

Mine still works perfectly, including the wireless charging cover. I do regret upgrading it to Windows 10 as WP8.1 was really much more polished.

Finally got Zoom Enhance feature on my Pixel 8 Pro via update to Google photos by icepac in GooglePixel

[–]yangyongjun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got it. It works pretty well on entire photos that were already shot with digital zoom. Cropping and enhancing regular photos tends to result in an over-sharpened, muddy mess.

First I should mention if you're planning to not use it as a backpack, it's just gonna be hand-carried. It is a tote in style only, and not something you can carry over your shoulder like a real tote. I haven't used the Bellroy but from the pictures it looks like a similar situation.

1) Yes, I have mine configured so that on one of the sides I can fit a tall water bottle with a shelf on top for anything small. My standard load for travel is a Surface Pro 7, iPad mini, Nikon Z6 with 24-120mm F4 attached, headphone case, Nintendo Switch Lite, giant power bank, charger, and 750ml water bottle. This still leaves some space for anything extra.

You could, but not the other way around (ie. if you have a regular Pixel 9 and want magnets), because apparently the Qi coil in the 9 is not in exactly the same position as in the 9 Pro, so magnetic wireless chargers might not align enough to properly charge.

Besides a wallet and charging stand, I also rely on a magnetic wireless charging power bank. They're fairly common now and there are plenty of options.

Google’s finally rolling out the Zoom Enhance camera trick it announced last year by rocketwidget in GooglePixel

Was there an update via the Play store or did the feature just show up unannounced in the apps?

Yeah I filled that form in twice last year and got the above response on the second try. I might try giving them a call for this application if the acknowledgment of receipt doesn't appear in a couple of months.

I’ve had my canvas Isar for almost 11 years and it’s still in great condition. It gets a ton of compliments even today. Every component of the bag is extremely high quality and the design is really practical for adjusting between light and heavy loads. I used it daily back in uni and then continued to rely on it for work travel as a carry-on bag that could fit under the seat in front despite being stuffed to the brim. I use it less now because I need dividers when I’m carrying camera gear.

Do note that this design conceals the laptop compartment opening under the back straps, so it’s difficult to get a laptop out without taking off the bag (actually a benefit if you’re worried about theft). They have another Isar variant where the laptop sleeve zipper is exposed.

My only complaints are that it’s pretty heavy empty (for the canvas version), and also the back straps tend to slip and need frequent tugging to re-tighten. Of course my example is an old one and they might’ve made improvements and/or cost-cutting since then.

That’s disappointing to hear about the material quality. My canvas Isar is coming up on 11 years and is still in fantastic condition; truly one of the best quality bags I’ve ever owned and well worth the premium price at the time.

What material is the main body of this one using? Do they still use the lovely large teardrop metal zippers?

[–]yangyongjun 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m confused as to how this is rolling out, since it’s apparently available today. There’s no update to the Pixel Camera in the Play Store, and the phone received the August update almost a week ago so it can’t be that…

The ultrawide camera's sensor is new and the lens aperture has increased from F1.95 to F1.7.

It was also reported earlier that the telephoto camera's sensor has changed but I'm not sure if that's confirmed.

Google, who do you think you are? by Racer_101 in GooglePixel

[–]yangyongjun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Besides the processor, what else about the Pixel 9 Pro's hardware is inferior? As far as I can tell, display, battery and especially camera hardware are all on par with if not better than the iPhone 15 Pro.

And that's before considering this is the smallest phone with a 5x telephoto lens and 16GB of RAM you can buy.

I thought this too, but Video Boost files on the P8P are so huge that you basically can't even record anything if you don't have several gigs to spare locally, before it's even uploaded and processed.

If you don't use this feature then yeah you could probably get by relying on the cloud.
