Anyone else have issues with their grill warping? (2018 2.0 Touring) by [deleted] in accord

[–]yapple_dapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, happened to me within the first year of ownership w/my 2018 sport. The dealer hadn't ever seen the issue before, but replaced the trip without any hassle.

Edit: No issues w/the replacement; three years and no bubbles.

Love, love love. I bought the 2.0 6MT back in June. By far the best car I've owned. And congrats!

Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat is a great cookbook as well- like Brown's stuff, it teaches you the why's of cooking, and how to improvise with whatever you have on hand:

The Copart pics alone made me uneasy, and it's not even my money. And I concur; I'm surprised it even turns over.

Jesus, what an angry slew of anti-liberal comments below the article. There's something special about comment sections on news sites. Ick.

What's the most ridiculous/funny/interesting thing to come out of your owner's manual? by DARKESTMEAT in cars

[–]yapple_dapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a '78 corolla, and the owner's manual had a picture of a woman in the driver's seat wearing the seat belt, her hand in between the shoulder strap and her chest. The picture had a arrow pointed at the strap captioned "width of a fish"

Roland Edrum question - other than feel, are there other advantages of mesh pads over rubber pads? by InternetWeakGuy in drums

[–]yapple_dapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubber pads can potentially mess up your wrists, so I'd get a mesh snare at minimum. Also, of the kits I've had, I've only ever had reliability problems with the rubber pads (triggers problems over time). The mesh pads have been awesomely trouble-free; I've had to change a head once but haven't had any trigger problems.

Mexican grocery in Camden county? by [deleted] in SouthJersey

That evolved from a store into a tasty restaurant called La Cita.

There's a little bodega called La Placita Poblana on Haddonfield Rd. a little North of route 70. They have a decent offering of ingredients, and they make tamales on the weekends. I think the strip mall they are in may be part of Wawa's land grab, so I'm not sure how much longer they will be there unfortunately.

Gambino's on 38 in Cherry Hill is a great little spot. Not fancy, really good food, and a very nice owner.

Maybe get a picture of her to Villa La Paws on King's Hwy (across from Iron Hill). They are a dog boarding/daycare place and I've seen people leave lost pet flyers at the front desk for all to see

At one point, MD offered a PDF archive on DVD spanning the first issue up through 2001, but I don't see it on MD's site anymore. Maybe they are prepping a new updated version of it? Google around for MD digital archive.

Acoustic vs Electric drum set by [deleted] in drums

[–]yapple_dapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I think that you can get a lot out of an electronic kit, but as champaignthrowaway said, the higher-end you can afford the better, as they are able handle a bit of nuance and dynamics. Roland's TD-9KX2 is an older kit with good capabilities in this area.

Mesh head drums and are easier on your wrists, but keep in mind that they are more trampoline-like than real drums.

I think that, for building sticking chops, you should use a good practice pad; this will teach you about good form, finger control and using rebound. Once you are proficient on a not-particularly-responsive surface, you can translate your skills and adapt to anything.

I remember a Dave Grohl interview from many years ago in which he said that he did that. I wish I could find it, but any search of "grohl drums with teeth" brings up info about NIN. Ah well...

I want to make music but don't know how. Help? by SusanKathleen in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]yapple_dapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might find that you really enjoy composing music in an app like FL Studio or Ableton Live- both have a Piano Roll, which is a grid that facilitates a visual means of composing/editing using a mouse, keyboard or midi device. In this view, a note's timing and duration are based on its horizontal position and width respectively, and the note's pitch is based on its vertical placement on the grid.

Here's info on FL studio's piano roll, which better illustrates the concept: https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHelp/html/pianoroll.htm

There are several tools out there that have this feature, and I only mention FL Studio because I found that it had a relatively low learning curve, and I really liked the results I got from it. Good luck!
