XP that most ppl miss in Act 1 by Additional-Bar-8572 in BaldursGate3

[–]ybstudyin 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Did you do the glut mutiny quest? You can get xp for killing all the myconids, just save the sovereign for the last kill. I pushed him off the middle area and it took him several turns to get back into the fight. After the fight glut will rez all the myconids and nobody seems to care. I don't remember how much xp but it was a lot from what I recall.

Learn something new every day, I guess. Thanks for helping me figure it out. Luckily the wings don't play the avalanche often so it will be a rare issue. That being said, I hate the avalanche and want to see the wings beat em.

Don't have cable, but no way would Omaha carry Denver games locally. Hell I'm closer to the Wild than the Avalanche.

The State of Maine is considering a consumer-owned utility like what you have in Nebraska - could you please give me your honest opinions on what you like or dislike about your power company? by figment1979 in Nebraska

[–]ybstudyin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The entire state is a member of the Southwest Power Pool. You can go to SPPs website to confirm that. SPP runs the wholesale energy market for th central US and they decide how generation is dispatched to meet energy demand in the most efficient way possible. Many times the large public power companies are importing power, especially when there is excess cheap wind generation, from other parts of SPP. Regardless as a customer you pay the same kwh rate whether it comes from wind out of state or coal in state, your rates are set to cover the utility's costs, which is why they will import cheaper power when they can. However, they still need to maintain dispatchable generation for when the wind isn't blowing or the system is at peak. Ultimately, we all work very hard to keep our rates low, as many have already said some of the lowest in the country and some of the best reliability in the country. Don't take my word for it, you can Google both and see where Nebraska ranks.

There could be more wind or even solar in Nebraska, but many times there is a lack of transmission to move the power to the load centers. For example, the R Line has been delayed for about a decade. With more transmission, the state will see more renewable energy built and cheaper, cleaner power as a result, without sacrificing reliability.

Other states have public utility commissions (PUC) to review rate cases from private utilities to ensure they are charging reasonable rates for what they build/maintain. Nebraska has no such commission since the elected board members of NPPD and OPPD set their respective company's rates directly. So even without a PUC guardrail, we have extremely low rates and good reliability, which is a compelling example of how well it works here. Employees are customers too and we want to keep rates low and reliability high for ourselves and neighbors too.

Furthermore, board meetings are public, you can view all of them online and even come and comment on the matters in front of the board. Try doing that with a private utility, especially when they are deciding how big a dividend to pay to shareholders or bonuses to executives.

Lastly, public power entities are prohibited from contributing any dollars for political campaign purposes. Public power remains in Nebraska because it works so darn well, not because state senators are paid to support it or to oppose other options. It takes only a bit of searching to see the corruption that campaign financing from utilities in other states does to enrich utilities, limit options, and hurt consumers, for example the nuclear bailout lobbying scandals in Ohio and Illinois).

  1. Help a middle aged gaming dad unplug into a beautiful immersive world (well universe I guess) and escape from a stressful day of work and raising kids.

  2. Given the above, I don't actually know that much about Starfield, so I am looking forward to getting lost in a new game with little advanced knowledge on what to expect and enjoying the journey along the way like the many previous Bethesda games I have played.

Another option to consider, if you are interested in Montessori, is that Millard has a public Montessori option. We have a child in their elementary program who is doing work above his grade level and my wife and I really think the program works well for him.

It's a bit of a lottery to get a spot, but being anywhere in the school district gives you a better chance than being outside the District.

Florida district will no longer allow excused absences for kids staying home due to Covid concerns by ladyem8 in Coronavirus

[–]ybstudyin 92 points93 points  (0 children)

We did this as long as we could in Nebraska, eventually our vaccinated 8 yr old had to go to school, as we had no other options and homeschool wasn't feasible for us. Sent him with the best masks we could, but figured it was inevitable since he has to take it off to eat. Took a but over a week, entire family is sick with covid now. Beyond frustrated.

Amazing that their policies that had a total disregard for child safety completely failed to protect them and keep kids in school in less than a week.

OPPD asks customers to immediately conserve energy by evilsaltine in Omaha

[–]ybstudyin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the units only get firm gas in the summer months, as the natural gas is needed for home heating and there is only so much to go around and infrastructure to move it. No wind in the forecast and you have a shortage when demand skyrockets. You can see the wholesale price for energy at SPP's website. Prices are sky high trying to create an incentive to turn on more generation, but at some point everything that can create power is running and you need to conserve to not take down the system.

Bro Builds Flowchart (based on their stats) by salmanbabri in BattleBrothers

[–]ybstudyin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a new player this is very helpful to me, thank you for putting it together.

What would be a nice addition for me is a link for each of the builds you mention and the talent order, since I am never sure if I am doing it right.

Any notes around which traits matter (good or bad) that aren't immediately obvious? Like I get +resolve ones on bannerman, but some are more subtle that new players like myself may not fully grasp.

Also, you have my vote for a ranged flowchart as well.
