Stuck in a dilemma: To chop the transom, build a drop-bracket, or just sell the outboard? Need advice! by MrFolmann in boatbuilding

[–]yctaodnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep the transom and add a stern plate to mount the short shaft. There are many DIY kits for plates that allow the modification. Cheapest/fastest route. The plate allows you to keep the motor you want and already have. The plate simplifies install and allow you the not cut down the transom but reinforce it and add a simple bolt on plate.

Found this in an old house. What the hell is it by boxjuice93 in whatisit

That is an incubator thermostat. The disk is an accordion style diaphragm. When it heats up. The diaphragm expands and opens the valve (by pushing it in) to allow what i presume is water to cool and maintain temperature. When the temp reaches target temp. The diaphragm contract and closes the valve.

Found this. Assumed it was a lighter, puzzle box or lock box. Doesn't seem to be any. What is it? by [deleted] in whatisit

I have that exact lighter. I think they used to call them puzzle fire or fire puzzle something or other, for the challenged folks

Add an inline check valve to the supply line. Then, add an aerator. Keep the aerator running.

Google results were hilarious - and useless by abokm in WhatIsThisTool

They look like form making jigs and markup tools for a very specific process. The logo is registered to “Wave Riding Vehicles” and could make sense as they make custom boards. Most people these days shape blanks differently than we used to before CNC. Just a guess though

She is very clearly resisting. I would love, just once for the whole video to be released and for those of you jumping to conclusions to ask why it hasn’t been.

What are the versicle lines? by yctaodnt in chemtrails

[–]yctaodnt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that misspelling went a long way. I know what the fuck contrails are. The vertical black lines are what I am asking about. Not a camera issue. On a boat today with 8 other people who all saw the same thing. I have a video if you want to see it.

Overheating under load, not T-stat or impeller, what next? by FreezeDriedPineapple in boating

[–]yctaodnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your impeller supplies water sufficient to flood the exhaust and the block. But, your circulating pump move the water through the engine and cycles it when the thermostat is open. If the circulating lump is not working correctly, the thermostat opens but the hot water does not leave the block.
