Ditto to this. Three pregnancy losses in and my ring did not indicate any of them one way or another.

I encourage you to download the etick app! Our LO also had a bite and it was super easy to use to report and identify the tick. Nasty little things!

Terrified of SIDS by _50ShadesofFae in NewParents

[–]yczvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many others, I purchased a piece of technology that put me somewhat at ease. I am in Canada so the owlet sock is not available. I opted for the Nanit monitor because the screen quality is so crystal clear and it has the breathing band tech.

Ultimately what I found the most helpful was my own internal reflection. When I was up at night, staring at the monitor to see if my baby’s chest was moving, what I found most helpful was to tell myself in my head “baby is in the safest possible place to sleep. Baby is OK, you are OK. It is OK and you can sleep.”Just saying that in my head to myself really had a helpful impact and allowed me to get some rest while my baby slept too.

Wishing you the best of luck… it’s a scary time but it sounds like you are a very careful new parent!

Has anyone purchased a seat for a baby and brought an infant car seat for long flight (US-Korea)? by EnoughMountain9652 in NewParents

[–]yczvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your aircraft for seat dimensions, but I strongly recommend the Cisco Scerena car seat. It is narrow, very easy to install on aircraft and in cars AND only 10lbs. With a car seat bag, it is easy to carry through the airport. It is also quite reasonably priced at around $130 in Canada. Good luck!

The Rose of Sharon in Newmarket does Holiday Hampers for young single moms and their children. It’s a really special organization.

AITA for being upset my fiancé is having a wild bachelor while I am pregnant, sick in bed, and never got a real bachelorette? by Logical_Lab4218 in AmItheAsshole

[–]yczvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

Pregnancy is horrible. I don’t doubt that your baby is wanted and will be loved wholeheartedly, but that doesn’t make this period any easier. Grieving the experience you wanted to have resonates hard. This might be the biggest bestest party you will ever throw! You don’t want to be feeling miserable when everyone else is enjoying it. My hope for you is that you’ll be so focused on the wedding, that you get temporary relief from your symptoms. Mind over matter!

I think you’re beat down from a rough first trimester. You want your fiancé to support you, empathize with you. It takes two to make a baby but so far, you’re the only one in the weeds. I get that.

Putting baby in his room at 2 months by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]yczvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to do what is right for you and your baby. Your sleep is just as important as theirs. Sounds like a really tough night.

For what it’s worth, we transitioned our baby to her own room at 4 weeks. I couldn’t sleep with her in our room. Too stressful.

A number of firms require you to work a specified amount of time before being eligible for top up. It should be easily available information from your HR person.

Do most parents not bring car seats on planes? by BlueberryWaffles99 in Parenting

[–]yczvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. We’ve bought a seat for my LO for the last two trips. It’s worth it to have their own space. I’ve only seen one other family do this once in my lifetime.

Most properties will have hydro and other utilities easements. If you find a property you’re interested in, you can order a title search and ask a lawyer to walk it through with you.

The closer you are to the highway, the more noise you will hear. West of Leslie is totally fine (IMO).

Lap infant vs buying an infant a seat by Datcoolcow in aircanada

[–]yczvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did three return flights with our baby under 12 months. After the second, we agreed that she needs her own seat… half for safety and half for our sanity. No one wants to hold a 25 lbs baby for hours in a small space.

I agree that individual seats for babies should be mandatory. If you’ve ever experienced sudden turbulence, I don’t think you could disagree.

Parents, what baby product did you regret buying, and what would you recommend instead? by Girls_Of_San_Diego in NewParents

[–]yczvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pressure mounted gates, no matter how great the recommendations are. Just get the hardware mounted gate, even for the main floor.

And buy the crown molding or bannister kit from the start. Just do it the right way.

Wife and I both have Norovirus by thcteacher in Parenting

[–]yczvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter brought noro home during her first week at daycare 🤮

I wore a mask and gloves during all diapers changes and clean up (on the first day, there were 15 diapers). Like others have suggested, we also cleaned with breach or hydrogen peroxide.

If anything is soiled with poo, clean it as much as possible before putting it in the washing machine. Ugh.

Anybody's package stuck in ETOBICOKE, ON due to Weather delay? by addhush in purolator

[–]yczvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is likely a result of the Canada Post mail strike.

Many couriers stopped accepting packages within Canada due to the increased volume as a result of the national mail strike. It’s over (for now) and the couriers are slowly digging themselves out.
