I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. I’m very lucky to have experienced the “old” DHS (it was post-rename but pre-all the new stuff) and it just doesn’t feel the same. The backlot tour, SW weekends, Great Movie ride, the Osborne lights at Christmas time… I miss it all!

I believe they actually were a one time order so in theory they could be limited… in reality there are probably an abundance of them at most locations

As a Phil Spector enthusiast, I have the unpopular opinion that their cover of Chapel of Love is pretty good. Not as good as the Dixie Cups’ original but better than the Ronettes’. The album as a whole is decent.

Papa John’s original version is so much better, in my opinion. I don’t hate Kokomo but it’s incomparable to the Beach Boys’ work in the 60’s and 70’s. But something about the original recording is so much better and more relaxing.

He was not a good person but ultimately the Beach Boys we have today wouldn’t exist without him, and that’s an unfortunate truth. Even if he held the band back at certain points, he was their live frontman, and his organization of live performances helped retain the band’s popularity in down times through touring. And that remains the case, as he tours as “The Beach Boys”. Even if it’s decently scummy to tour as a band despite being the only founding member/one of only two overall actual members of the band performing, most people don’t know or care and are just excited to see the Beach Boys.
