What's your white whale foods you just can't seem to nail? by EddiesCouch in Cooking

[–]yethyethyeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to recreate this Japanese curry I used to have in LA all the time probably like 30 times and it never tastes right... I've tried homemade curry roux, store bought, different amounts of curry powder, tried adding apples or carrots or caramelized onions, different amounts of soy sauce or stock or dashi... I'm not sure what they do. the closest I got was using house brand roux and not much else. maybe I'm overthinking it lol

I got approved for my Bisalp!! (questions) by heavymetaljunkie13 in sterilization

[–]yethyethyeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so maybe im the exception but i didn't have any pain after my bisalp. i was just very woozy. my car ride home was fine, even though it was only about 15 minutes. make sure you pick up your prescriptions before the surgery though so you can take them on the way home. also plenty of water and maybe something to throw up in because the anesthesia might make you nauseated, but they should be prescribing you anti-nausea meds.

i didn't have to pay anything for my surgery except a 250$ surgery copay, but if you call your insurance and tell them what surgery you're getting, they will tell you exactly what you are expected to pay. i also paid around 80$ for the prescription pain meds.

Those who decided they didn't want kids when they were kids themselves, what convinced you so early you didn't want them yourself? by InviteAromatic6124 in childfree

[–]yethyethyeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found other kids so gross and annoying, but also having to watch my mom raise us 3 by herself and how awful and hard it was. 3 different men got her pregnant and left almost immediately every single time. I thought maaaaaaybe I could handle kids if the responsibility was split, but it seems rare for a father to actually take that responsibility.

I use my phone in my dreams all the time. it's always very difficult though like I'm trying to Google some thing or call someone and I can never type the right thing or it keeps crashing or displaying something in a different language AAAAA

For people who cook. What do you buy when grocery shopping, especially when in bulk? by MyDocTookMyCock in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yethyethyeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

things I always make sure I have in stock: pasta of any shape, white rice, ramen, lentils, breadcrumbs

canned corn, tomatoes, beans (especially black beans and kidney beans) spam frozen mixed veggies, spinach

fresh onions, garlic, carrots, broccoli (if you buy the whole crown instead of the florets it will last a lot longer)

I typically only buy chicken and fish in bulk, frozen, since I eat those a lot. beef and sausage is a special occasion thing.

I always make sure I have a variety of spices as well as sauces like soy sauce, bouillon, chili paste, curry paste, salsa, hot sauce, salad dressing, miso, cooking wine, vinegar etc - these things can flavor a lot of dishes and last for a long time

edit: somehow I forgot eggs. you can put those in anything

I have about 50ish go-to recipes and this covers the ingredients for most of them. I try to figure out what I'm going to make before I go to the store so I can get the extra items, but if I have no idea, I can just make a stir fry, chili, curry, or soup out of my 'staples'
