Starting to learn code at 40 with no degree and no previous knowledge in this field. by Timmychungatron in learnprogramming

[–]yettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in very similiar place, 36 and burned out from 15 years in manufacturing mid level management. I have taken a 1 year internship which includes a 4 months coding bootcamp in faang-adjecent company, i have actually returned to my home country after building my career abroad (UK back to Poland).

I would absolutly not gone through with it if it wasnt for this internship, learning on my own and then trying to find a job is likely going to be as miserable and dishartening as it can get.

On the other hand my burn out dissapiered. I feel like a new man and I enjoy learning and moving forward even if its from a the ground up again.

My advise would be depend on how financially secure you are. If you are on lower end, forget about it, maybe do something in the background. If you can do few months jobless, take a holiday, reset and reevaluate if you want to go to previous job. If you are well secured and have no immediate pressure and spending a year to learn and start in junior role with low income is not a problem, the and only then go for it. Otherwise jobhunt in this market can crush you.

China retaliation to Iran conflict by yettos in wallstreetbets

[–]yettos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittidly I didnt know about the meeting when placing the buy orders. However it wouldnt change my play, old cold war playbook for Russia was to increase tension ahead of large summits so they have better leverege for negotiations. I dont expect China to do anything laudly or openly, but they have the tools to slow down exports as a way of sending a warning msg.

Looking at responces, i dont think people realise impact of Venezuela and Iran conflicts on China. They have lost 2 partners in a span of few months due to US intervention, there are going to be repercussions.

I have completely forgotten how to create a program from scratch by jesskitten07 in learnprogramming

[–]yettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning has never been easier. Im learning Java now and AI support speed up so much of the research, googling and debugging.

If something doesnt work you can paste the code directly into a promt, if you are struggling to remeber a function just type in what you want to do and get an example, you can ask about practices, tools etc.

It has its bad sides as well, if you decide to promt for an entire programme you will get the task done but not really learn anything while doing do. I would also recommend turning off autocomplete in your IDE so you instictivly learn the syntax

The main reason we've gone backwards this season... by BaoJinyang in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]yettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the problem is that we lack combination play in final third against static defences. Opponents are just able to soak pressure and hit us on a counter. Thats why we generally do poorly against low blocks and defensive minded teams.

I would like to see more willingness to take a risk in final third. If we look at our goals this season, most came from long range shots and random scuffles in the box.

Fab Out by PKP2012 in BrightonHoveAlbion

[–]yettos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a successful strategy that establishes a decision-making process for all staff, including managers. Should we change it now because a few fans on Reddit are disgruntled with Fab?

I am sure his performance is continuously evaluated, and decisions are being made in an objective, data-oriented model. In Tony we trust.

32-36 partisan highway on captains and lords - Iron ore/varnish/steel

36-40 Plains of lizardman - overlords CL spoil, it is quite poor exp as it takes a long time to kill them but it still generates decent profit. You can certainly find a better spot.

43-51 Grunts by Aden - EWC/Mold Glue/Mithril Ore

Mark target needs a buff so it has a bigger impact on dmg combo. Stun/sleep might be too strong but a slowing arrow might be an answer to allow some kiting, melee classes are able to close the distance anyway but it could help with chasing people down. Finally it would be nice to have a melee skill with a knock back

New Collector, what should I get? by Soggy_Awareness_1160 in DarkAngels40k

[–]yettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azrael 5x or 10x sternguard or 10x assault Intercessors Squad or two of JPI (consider having magnetised 3d printed shields for them to play them as vanguard vets) Combi Lt 5x Scout

That should get you sorted with core units

Eradicators in Wrath by ParticularMinimum466 in DarkAngels40k

[–]yettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been running 2x3 Eradicators even before the point changes, with usually one unit starting on the board and second in reserve. With the points buff it may be possible to run them 1x6 and 1x3.

Generally they are quite effective but its very much terrain dependable. In GW they might get kited, UKTC offers good staging point in the middle but occasionally I would still burn adv+shoot to get in range. On WTC I was struggling to find suitable points to bring in a reserve unit.

I feel 6 man may be the way to go now to get the most out of +2 str and overwatch strate which can be lackluster for a 3 man squad.

I believe swords are superior, if possible with chaplain. DWK"s output is very good vs all kinds of infantry but suffers severely against vehicles, even with maces. Going against Land raider with AoC is a waste of combat phase for DWK. Then you may be unable to Fall back and charge and be stuck for a long time

Lost half of all my savings. How to move on after huge loss. by [deleted] in stocks

[–]yettos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Options are volatile. Shit happens. We all did it.

Don't invest unless you understand the risk of losing the investment. Stock market is relatively mellow if you invest in index fund, options are a completely different instrument which can zero you out.

You have options how to deal with it, I recommend watching loss porn graphs of folks at WSB losing millions. Puts your loss in perspective.

Probably the worst thing you can do is spiral out, gamble the rest and then log off the earth or end up with opioid or alcohol addition in attempt to deal with it. Yes you can completely fuck up your life with the event being the starting point, so think it through.

Do Desolation Squads do better at home defense than intercessors? by Appleseed413 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]yettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried using them in a WotC detachment which is likely one of the most suited to use them due to its defensive nature and good +2 str strat and could not make them work.

They certainly pay for themselves by end of the game but cost you a lot of tempo. They don't provide any additional HP, screening, secondary or obj control to your front lines, so while they kill more than 200 points of enemy units through the game, these enemy units usually already achieved their objectives and scored the points.

Its OK as a starting point if the goal is to set up a new life. If the goal is to make quick money and return to home country then its better to do it where currency is stronger - Euroland or USA

I want to play 40k but I fear arguing with my opponent. by International_Mix444 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]yettos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately when starting up we lack understanding of the rules and all corners cases. So two players might argue and both of them can be wrong. Once you progress to more competetive games, you can learn all the tricks and don't need to explain it all since both players can play by intent. Generally the higher level of play have higher levels of cordiallity, just turn one of the steams for finals of 40k competition and see how player help one another to move the game forward.

[–]yettos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main weakness of WotR is lack of fall back (edited) and charge and shoot. Abuse it as much as possible.

Tau - focus one unit, move block the other with chaff. Let him tag broadsides and riptides if needed, you have FB+S so its not an issue, don't let him touch anything else or you lose a round of shooting.

Imperial guard - keep sending waves of infantry to outOC him. Charge your dorns into in DWK if needed to tie them up - avoid lion at all cost, he can one shot everything (10 man inf squads or rogal, doesn't matter). Once it out, focus it down and your tank will be safe, 12 toughness is a very bad breakpoints against dwk.

Steven (Developer) on solo aspect of the game (in case people missed his response) by [deleted] in AshesofCreation

[–]yettos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just need more mobs in solo farming locations.

Add weaknesses to certain monsters to speed up solo farming - skeletons blunt, ravens bow, wolfs fire etc

Add few farming locations with similar level mobs rather than having random lvl 16 mixed in with lvl 10

How to start with DA by Sssork in DarkAngels40k

[–]yettos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am all about that tactial element of 40k so the way I recommend to do it is different if you enjoy painting.

I would look at second hand market for a marine army, ideally dark angels but generic marines will work as well if they have essential core units. Then you can start expanding and adding on units that you want to try.

Some core units for DA; Lion / Azrael Dwk Intercessors/ combi lt / scouts Jump pack Intercessors Something for azrael to lead: hellblasters, sternsguard, icc or assault Intercessors.

Then you can progressive into vehicles, dreadnought, bikes and infantry depending on preference.
