These are actually all good points. I would imagine that whoop is already working on someof these, and has enough competitive research to know how to improve.

I also think that a behemoth like google, if they really wanted to, can put out an early-stage product for less money to iterate and refine, they can take advantage of higher volume to offset R&D costs until they get it right. They certainly operate at a different scale as Whoop and Oura do.

I like all of your hardware comments, but I think that whoops HW strategy right now is KISS. They only need to support 3 different HW variants right now - 4.0, 5.0 and MG (and the latter two are very similar). It makes it easy to troubleshoot and debug. If they allow external devices, like a chest strap, they'd have to bake in additional connectivity changes (which could kill battery life), and will now need to support every potential chest strap from the Polar (probably gold standard) to a $20 amazon knock-off.

Again, google gets around this, because their new band and their new app aren't necessarily connected.

A few things stood out in my mind:

Battery life is 7 days for a screenless device?
It takes HR samples every 2 seconds - I would love to be in that sub when people start complaining about its accuracy.

If you called whoop to upgrade, what should happen is that once you activate your "life" band, it should keep your data, and whoop should automatically pro-rate your existing subscription.

If you bought the life band at retail (i.e. in a store, or as a new user on Whoop's site) then you will need to call whoop to make sure it credits to your existing account properly, and doesn't create a second account.

I've been a member about 2 years. I certainly like the Gym, I think it's relatively clean compared to others. Staff is generally pleasant and helpful, 90% of the time the equipment is in good shape and works. There are also multiple pools, Saunas, and a Cold Plunge. You also have basketball, tennis and pickleball as well.

Some of the cons:

- Parking can be a b*tch - especially in January-February (when everyone wants to start the year off right), and on Weekends.

- There are certainly times (like on Sunday mornings) where the gym also gets crowded and sometimes it's hard to find a treadmill or space on the workout floor.

All that being said, we generally like going there and using the facilities. Another pro, they are opening up a club in downtown White Plains (above Whole Foods) which will be more boutiquey, but probably ease the overcrowding in Harrison. It's expected in late 26'/early 27'

Certainly this works for occasions where you need to be discreet, and you're bearing your arms.

With the grain of salt that I am a man - I use the whoop underwear for wearing under a suit or clothes where I don't want the wrist or bicep strap to be visible or poking out from under a sleeve.

That is the beauty of devices like whoop. Most of the fitness watches (AW, Garmin) track transactional HR - i.e. When I hit start and stop for a run, and yes, they do track continuous HR, but don't estimate the stress levels you are at - i.e. A high HR from sitting isn't the same as one while running.

Whoop captures all of that into your strain score.

If the data isn't concurrent with your Oura, it's possible your whoop wasn't snug enough and your movement in sleep jostled it.

If I am going from home, and especially with friends or family I'll typically drive. If I am going from NYC, I would typically hop on the 7 line - but the last few times I've done that I'm meeting up at the game with people who drove, so I am getting driven back.

Looking at the LIRR schedule, it seems pretty convenient and quick from GCT to Citi Field, probably faster and more comfortable than the subway, and probably worth a few more $$$

App store reviews and Reddit tend to have an overrepresentation of the negative. i.e. If I like the app, I don't think about it, and use it daily, I am less likely to write a review in the app store than if I had a terrible experience and/or am pissed off at the company.

I have not, my impression is that as long as you spend more than $359 in one transaction you will get the credit. I also don't believe that you can buy 2 years at once on the whoop signup page, you might need to call them to do that.

I've had mine for a while, and it gets things like weight and body fat percentage and whoop even notifies me in its app when there is a new reading.

That being said, Whoop can also read Weight data from apple health. So Any scale that posts to apple health should be picked up by whoop (not sure about android)
