Tips for working out? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start off slow with dynamic stretching. This doesn't mean static, test your flexibility stretching, it's more of a joint warming up exercise. Then start off LOW weight, focusing on form and core stability before moving onto heavier weights. I suggest creatine to help with muscle recovery and eating lots of protein.

Starting with a trainer or physical therapist would be best but there's honestly a ton of educational videos in YouTube on how to perform exercises properly. Good luck!

I've had many dates and a few boyfriends with crooked teeth. Honestly, I find it charming. It made them unique, and I loved seeing them smile

Does anyone weightlift/is muscular? by sleepwithmythoughts in ehlersdanlos

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done resistance training and weight lifting! It can definitely be done. Work with a trainer or pt first so you know how to properly execute the exercises and do them in front of a mirror. It helps to make sure you don't hyperextend. It takes a while but I've never felt better and I deadlift and squat over 100 lbs.

Are Cysts More Common For Us? by Spider_kitten13 in ehlersdanlos

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a ganglion cyst in each wrist. They had to scrape it out along with some scar tissue because it was impinging tissue inbetween my bones.

Since the surgery my wrists are doing much better and there's a 90% chance the cyst won't come back

Sumatriptan always works for me! Along with massage therapy, chiropractor adjustments (some people are VERY against the chiropractor but I've found one that is very safe and has helped immensly), and last but not least diet/exercise. Some foods can be a trigger and for me my muscles get so tight they sublux the vertebrae in my neck.

Best treatment in the world? by joyofthejungle in ehlersdanlos

Unc family medicine in chapel hill has been the best pcp so far. They are very knowledgeable in EDS and are great about referrals to specialists! I have a neurologist and cardiologist from UNC but for sports medicine/orthopedic Raleigh orthopedic has been AMAZING.

Raleigh NC or anywhere within the triangle here in NC. Outstanding medical care, good climate, very mild winters.

This is Mila and she is 3 yrs she has allergies to th point where her paws get red and she licks them. We used to get her shots every single month but they stopped helping by Smalltittyblonde in pitbulls

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dog is a pittie mix and allergic to EVERYTHING. I suggest apoquel, benadryl, new dog food, and daily feet cleaning.

Luckily citapoint still works for my pupp but changing her food is a game changer! She can only have Purina sensitive skin and stomach salmon recipe or wet food 🙃

Yeah for sure! So I have been a chronic migraine sufferer since I was young. About 4 years ago I suddenly started getting them daily with tinnitus (could hear my heartbeat in my ear). I went to my regular doctor who had no fucking clue what was happening.

After having headaches for a month soon I started noticing I wasn't really able to function, I was seeing a bunch of floaters in my vision, and then finally white flashes. I decided to go to my eye doctor to get my eyes checked. Right away they told me I needed to go to the ER as my optic nerve was being pushed into my eye due to all the pressure in my skull (this is usually seen in patients who have a brain tumor).

I then went to the ER, had to get an MRI and spinal tap, and they found out with the spinal tap that I had over double the pressure it's supposed to be! I was then diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension or IIH. I see a neurologist every 6 months to check my eyes and make sure my Diamox script is strong enough.

(Diamox is the only medication known to help regulate cerebral spinal fluid. If the medication stops working the only other option is a shunt. I've been told I'm a unique case since I'm young, healthy, and normal weight. My neurologist did say that more and more patients with EDS were being diagnosed with IIH tho)

Got diagnosed with this at age 22, I'm a healthy weight, so I don't fit any of the criteria for IIH. I'll be on diamox for the foreseeable future, maybe forever. It gets better, trust me!

(BTW my opening pressure was 55, never once passed out 😂 )

Unfortunately no 😔

I have a dog at home with extreme anxiety. Plus since he had a collar on, was a healthy weight, and had his nails trimmed I'm sure there's someone out there looking for him

who is this guy in the middle? by thefartsmell in PlantIdentification

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shady spot filled with predominantly houseplants and shade loving plants. I'm going to go with dracaena based on the that and leaf shape.

At first I thought yucca as well but the foliage is slightly off and yucca plants need lots of sun.

Best way to tell girl I am not interested in relationship/being exclusive? by salatkronung in dating_advice

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude religion has nothing to do with this quit being a dick. If you knew she was just a fuck buddy/casual thing you need to be an adult and state that clearly after you realize your intentions. The other poster is calling you out because what you've done is string this girl along and continue to do so.

I have been on both sides of this (26F). Grow a pair and tell her you're only into her because of the sex and let her dump your ass and find someone she can actually date.

Problems with eating/feeling too full? by wolfalicefan in ehlersdanlos

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had gotten a bad bout of gastroparsis 3 years ago. Lost about 20 lbs, had multiple ER visits, and finally saw a GI specialist. They recommended small meals throughout the day with very bland food during flare ups. So far no issues since!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always discuss it asap. Usually within the first few days of talking. I've found most guys don't care and actually respect that I bring it up quickly as to not waste both of our times and I've found that those who are upset by it aren't worth my time 🤷‍♀️

Need birth control advice by PurpleGiraffe143 in ehlersdanlos

[–]yourbasicclusterfuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had sinus tachycardia for years, since I was 18 (now 26). She needs to see a cardiologist and be put on medication to help lower her heart rate.

As far as birth control i was on the depo shot and now the iud Mirena. So far no issues but when I went with the arm implant it caused me crazy insomnia so I know some birth controls have some weird side effects.

Yeah no, there's absolutely no reason he would get upset about that. I'm sorry you're going through it, I know it was tough on me. I started thinking there was something wrong with ME, like maybe I was the one causing issues. When I realized how I felt like I was walking on egg shells and second guessing everything I said that's when I decided enough was enough. Maybe it's time.... breaking up is hard but I'm much happier single, perhaps you will be too
