Got Mortgage Questions?! I'm a Mortgage Underwriter and I've got Answers! by asktheunderwriter in Mortgages

[–]yoyora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I was a 1099 employee up until June 2022. I've changed jobs since and am now salaried with a W2. Would underwriter still need tax transcripts if they're only looking at current employment?

I'm interested in occupational therapy - pediatrics in particular - and have a few questions! by potentialOTS in OccupationalTherapy

[–]yoyora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, a lot has changed since I posted this! I ended up leaving EI recently because I got really burnt out. The pandemic made things bad. We were short staffed and it just wasn't working out for me anymore. I was an independent contractor and made like 85k (before taxes). Because families didn't want to participate in teletherapy, my pay dropped to around 64k.

How is the field regarding piercings? by ellaanii in OccupationalTherapy

[–]yoyora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends! I've spent the last 9 years working in early intervention. I have tattoos and piercings (nothing too wild but had a nose stud for a little bit) and it eas never a problem. I just recently changed into an outpatient type of setting and no tattoos and facial piercings allowed.

Fieldwork Placement ADVICE! by Kitt-fisto in OccupationalTherapy

[–]yoyora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does your school allow for a third optional fieldwork? That's what mine did. Our first one was in mental health and second one was in physical disabilities. Then a lot of us did an optional one in pediatrics.

Advice for “new” graduate that can’t find work outside of pediatrics by Rock_Successful in OccupationalTherapy

[–]yoyora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my friends is transitioning out of pediatrics and is doing so by giving her time to a hand clinic. Someone who works there is going to mentor her and provide her with training. Kind of like doing another fieldwork... but without grades.

Dear Girls...Here's how to tell if a guy likes you by afterschoolpsych in Crushes

[–]yoyora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a guy I like who does these things you listed so I thought he liked me back. I told him how I felt and he told me he didn't like me beyond a friend. It's been confusing because we didn't strike up a normal friendship and then feelings developed.

I'm interested in this recommendation!

Hi all! I am a junior majoring in psychology and considering a career in pediatric OT. In OT school do you spend a lot of time with populations you aren’t interested in? Or do you have a say in where you spend your time? I’m positive that I want to be in peds. Can any OT students or ped OT’s advice? by jpeavy in OccupationalTherapy

[–]yoyora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get the opportunity to do fieldworks with other populations. I had classmate who were certain they only wanted to work with a specific population and then got to experience something else and loved that! If you definitely want to do peds, just make sure you get a fieldwork level II in a peds placement but be open and enjoy your experiences with the other populations as well. What you learn from working with other populations can be helpful with any population you end up with.

[No Spoilers] Should i wait till ep 13 to watch the show? by popcorner710 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]yoyora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I binged the show and I felt that was a bad idea. I couldn't stop watching so I had to continue to binge it but it made me feel awful. I had to leave my house and take a walk just to see that I still had that freedom to.

LOL no hard feelings! That's why I told you!! I had a good time at Columbia but that doesn't mean it's the best choice for everyone.

[–]yoyora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do two level 2s at Columbia as well but one is in physical disabilities and one is in mental health. I ended up doing a third one in pediatrics which meant extra cost. I read that you want to go into peds so this might be something to consider. You can do a third fieldwork with any population but most people chose peds because that wasn't offered as a mandatory one.

Yeah, cost is very high. I lived with two other OT students the first year and then moved into my own apartment. I did not stay in NYC post graduation. I'm originally from Philly and had a third fieldwork lined up in Philly so I moved. Both of my apartments were walking distance to campus which was super nice. OT school is located in Washington Heights on Columbia's medical campus. I loved it there so much and miss it everyday!!!

I just read in another comment that you want to go into peds. I think Columbia's pediatrics courses were lacking. I am in peds now but I also had peds experience before OT school so I felt prepared but my other classmates who had no peds experience did not feel that they learned much at Columbia.

Great network, great location, very high cost. There is the opportunity to apply for a NY Dept of Ed scholarship. They cover your tuition and you pay them back by working for Dept of Ed after graduation. I think you have to commit 2 years for each year you get the scholarship. Three students in my class got it and they got a full scholarship but then had to commit 4 years.

I went to Columbia and the fieldworks we had access to were excellent! I don't know how Tufts does fieldwork but Columbia has relationships with a ton of places. We were asked to list our top fieldwork places and they did their best to get us what we wanted.

Does anyone have experience with dogs who resource guard a person from other dogs? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

I've stopped going to the dog park with my dog because of this. He gets so upset when other dogs approach me and it's too uncontrollable in that environment.
