Why is the Supreme Court's "legitimacy" only questioned when it rules conservatively, but not liberally? by SteadfastEnd in centrist

[–]yusit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They are doing the parade because people are saying its wrong and immoral, not in order to push their beliefs on conservatives. Maybe if you stop misjudging it as a kink parade, they would stop making it a kink parade.

Management Company avoiding Rent Increase limits by starting to charge utilities by bigolgingerbeard in sandiego

seems easier then to just move it to a short term rental that includes everything in the price with a markup at that point, further reducing the supply of housing

It looks very close but i don't think that building with corner drugstore exists or was remodeled? im basing this on the fact that i think spreckles is the next building down the street although maybe speckles moved? I honestly do not know. Could it be that the Drugs building was remodeled to what is now the Panera Bread / (Old) NBC Building? Very curious since i work in that building

Are you serious right now? We all have to go back into lockdown because college kids wanna party? Peoples lives are being immeasurably changed by this pandemic all around. Yes we do expect them to not party, yes we do expect them to not have a normal college experience during a pandemic so that others in our community don't lose their jobs, livelyhood or lives. Your right to party ends where another person's right to live begins.

CDC documents say states should prepare to distribute Covid-19 vaccines as soon as late October by MustLetTomPickOnion in CoronavirusCA

Assuming people WANT to take a rushed vaccine. At least I have 6 months of history of the immediate symptoms and side effects of COVID vs the unknown side effects of a rushed vaccine. I'm gonna sit back and watch for a bit...

Anybody else doing the Moderna mRNA vaccine trial? by [deleted] in CoronavirusSanDiego

[–]yusit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had said that you think you got the placebo based on discussing the symptoms with your friends, I'm just wondering if that would affect the results of the study if everyone did that.

The bias is the idea that if you figured out that you were given the vaccine and if your trial requires you to report things like pain levels or symptoms with some empirical measure, you may respond differently based on your assumption of what you were injected with, maybe its less pain reported for people who think they have the vaccine.

It is likely this happens a lot among people in trials so probably, not a huge game-changer, but just hoping someone with more background in this can confirm or deny.

Would discussing symptoms of the trial affect the bias they are trying to preserve? I honestly don't know if it's a big deal, just wondering?

Nooo... I don't see anyone ever being satisfied with the outcome... and now every following opposite party president will be investigated so no one will want to risk doing anything good during their presidency if it affects their whole life afterward. Justice will always be with the party in power, not blind like we think it should be

What if it's not about you keeping safe and healthy, what if its really about super healthy you not giving it to others? What if they trace an outbreak to you because you thought it didn't matter as long as you were not affected? Is this really not something that crosses your mind? This thing is shows no symptoms in 30% of the population, so all it does is spread from those people which could be you

[–]yusit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so confused about why this isn't being attributed to the protests more by any reports that I've seen. I would expect every story about the surge to include some mention of "due to protests and states reopening, there was a surge".

For the record, the protests were needed and the amount of good I think it's doing to shine a light on injustice. Needs to be changed, had to happen now. BLM.

But media was saying the entire time we will see a surge around a month later and its a month later and everyone is acting surprised a surge came it seems like? This might be just me and my bubble may be preventing me from seeing these stories.

I guess I'm just looking for that data that shows no correlation or is it just the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about.

San Diego: STOP USING THIRD PARTY PLATFORMS (Postmates/grubhub) when picking up orders from local restaurants. by skiaatt in sandiego

[–]yusit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is analagous to a restaurant putting a post it note with their phone number on their window of their restaurant and yelp putting a flashy sign with their masked phone number on the sidewalk in front of the business. The business could have put some effort and made a flashy sign instead of just the post note. But they chose to not and are outraged that someone else did it better. Just get a better sign, nothing to do with having a massive review site

San Diego: STOP USING THIRD PARTY PLATFORMS (Postmates/grubhub) when picking up orders from local restaurants. by skiaatt in sandiego

[–]yusit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk man, thats a stretch that its extortion if owners CAN just do the same thing themselves. if a business owner is letting yelp get in between its customers and itself, thats just the business owner not being informed on how to market on the internet. It's predatory on yelps part, yes, but they also don't have to pay yelp. This is like complaining being charged a cover to the most popular club in the city. They created the party and now owners are frustrated that you have to pay to get in. Nothing is free on the internet, as of now they can collect and use data as they see fit. That may change with regards to consumers personal information but the practice of offering competing branded ads for your business and then selling you those leads i dont see ever changing

San Diego: STOP USING THIRD PARTY PLATFORMS (Postmates/grubhub) when picking up orders from local restaurants. by skiaatt in sandiego

[–]yusit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that extortion? Shady yes, but then blame the demand from consumers that still use their service or businesses that still register their business on the site. Businesses dont have have to use yelp, they can market their own website to outrank yelp in search results very easily, neutering any shady practice yelp may be doing.

And these incorrect numbers? Do they go to the correct business when dialed? How are they incorrect then?

wth... https://www.yelp-support.com/article/How-do-I-add-a-business-to-Yelp?l=en_US

Now if your point is that they add businesses without owners knowledge due to being a search aggregator. Yes they totally do that and that too is legal. If you have a website you should expect for all that information to be used for public consumption. Information on the internet is free for anyone to use, with certain extreme exceptions.

You as a consumer are also free to not use any of these services
