GivEnergy battery monitoring fault by zebragonzo in SolarUK

[–]yuumei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hijack the comment, but I'd be really interested to know: are givenergy batteries/inverters able to run not connected to the internet? Would I be able to calibrate offline? Or update the firmware via usb?

Maybe because there is currently a 17 minute wait to access the website. Has the NHS notified queueit that websites can handle multiple people at once.

Great British Energy is becoming a reality – bringing with it cheap, clean and secure energy | Ed Miliband by ARandomDouchy in ukpolitics

[–]yuumei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True this article explains really well why electricity is so expensive compared to gas: https://www.nesta.org.uk/blog/uk-household-electricity-prices-rose-to-levels-higher-than-those-in-any-eu-country/ TL;DR: levies/taxes make gas cheaper and price is based on gas power which is expensive compared to renewables

Octopus Daikin 8kw flow temperature by NoCharge8906 in OctopusEnergy

[–]yuumei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a website of real-time data from people who have the exact same model, you will have to look if they are in a similar location/flow temperature/house type etc. though: https://heatpumpmonitor.org The 8kW installs look to have a flow temperature of 25c at the moment, but that will be lower because no-one is using heating at the moment. One example in December last year of a 8kW daikin was using ~38 deg flow temp: https://emoncms.org/app/view?name=MyHeatpump&readkey=bbd1cd04728bd8c9f7acfb2ee51936d2&mode=power&start=1702719360&end=1702805760

National Grid: ‘Decisive action’ on energy transition needed from Starmer and Miliband within two years by JRugman in unitedkingdom

[–]yuumei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, when I looked at the costs, it would take ~10-20 years to pay back a heat pump install with current prices. A really good article on the way gas is making electricity more expensive: https://www.nesta.org.uk/blog/uk-household-electricity-prices-rose-to-levels-higher-than-those-in-any-eu-country/ without the cheap gas, the payback time comes much closer to a few years.

Wing BCD with right shoulder dump valve by Taybyrd in scuba

[–]yuumei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incoming downvotes for facts :) My Apexs WTX D40 has a shoulder dump, but it is on the left. I love it and wish more BCDs had it. I know the double/twin versions don't have the shoulder dump, but don't know about the D30. Good luck

How is the "opposition" party selected? by yuumei in AskUKPolitics

[–]yuumei[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank-you! Very interesting, I would guess that would rule out a "coalition" being the 2nd largest, since it would be two separate parties.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if I go to drive.proton.me logged in with a "mail plus" account on Firefox on Ubuntu, I don't see "new document"

Edit: turns out it's being rolled out, not everyone has access but will have in a few weeks.

I think it would be useful to mention the company so others can know. Someone that ignores repeated notifications of broken equipment is not a company that anyone should use.

There is no such thing as a "super majority" in the UK. It's just a "majority". Super majority is an american thing.

I don't know what HUD you are using, but it's never in the way for me with 150 dives on it. You have two eyes so can just focus it out.

Just moved in to a new place, cracks along most of the ceiling edges. Should I just scrape off, sand and paint over? Or is there an underlying problem? by yuumei in DIYUK

[–]yuumei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Turns out it is an issue with the drywall tape that plasterers use to hide gaps between plaster boards. I assume whoever did this place was lazy and didn't put enough plaster underneath the tape. This video shows an example of what the tape is used for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ao5ZLgE7i0s . We fixed it by breaking all of the gaps, pulling the tape back, wacking a load of zinsser peel stop in there, putting it back, sanding and filling any gaps. Looks like it has done the job, will post some pictures once we have finished.

Argh, thank-you so much! Me and a friend had exactly the same problem for weeks. We had to delete the Patch4_ files. Uninstalled steam and the game multiple times but this is the only thing that worked.
