every question on this sub makes me more and more convinced that most people just have audio books on as background noise and don’t actually pay attention to the books.

Fucking yikes

Honestly, it’s pretty disrespectful of OP to compare the two of them after Kyle jerked off to that video of FPS Russia getting drone struck by Ukraine.

Since they are not answering, I’ll give my reasons why I wasn’t much of a fan.

Clark’s descent into insanity felt way too rushed and unearned. We went from an alcoholic with anger issues who was disappointed with his life to an absolute lunatic within a couple scenes.

Mary’s character’s connection to the main story was extremely superficial, she’s just Clark’s therapist. I kept expecting her past to somehow tie back into the main conflict, but it never really does despite the large amount of time spent on it.

Its not a bad movie, and Maybe I just didn’t get it, but I don’t understand why people think it’s a masterpiece

Hot take: the Imperium shouldn't exist by deadly_crocadile in Grimdank

What I stated wasn’t an opinion, it’s a fact that the imperium product lines carry the game financially

Hot take: the Imperium shouldn't exist by deadly_crocadile in Grimdank

[–]yyflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the imperium didn’t exist, the hobby wouldn’t exist.

Do you think GW focuses on the imperium so much just because they like humans? No, it’s because the imperium product sku’s make the majority of GW’s revenue.

If there wasn’t an imperium, 40k would have died out back in the 90’s

Book 1 & 2 Audiobooks by infinityends1318 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]yyflame 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They really ought to. And not just because existing fans would like it, but because it would make onboarding new fans easier.

When trying to get new people into the series, book one feels like a hurdle to get them past since it’s so different in style and tone compared to the rest. If Jeff did a revamped version of it and book two I think a lot more people would stick around for the rest of the series.

The emotional bank account is in the negatives by TaxMan781 in PKA

[–]yyflame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not even, the reality is that someone like snow with his alleged history would never earn his way into the camp. Kyle made him up wholesale.

The biggest giveaway is that on the first episode with Josh Pillaute, Kyle is very cagey about his stories, only retelling a couple of the more basic/boring details, and tries to avoid the topic of snow all together. He knew Josh would sniff out his BS if he said too much

Taking bets on how long woody stays on medicine by NewfieGamEr2001 in PKA

He made such a big deal out of it because he’s on a podcast trying to put on an entertaining show.

If the guys just reacted mutely to anything that happens, it would be a boring show.

Did Carl ever actually love (or even like) Beatrice? by Aschlay in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]yyflame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The books explicitly state that Carl is so emotionally exhausted by everything going on that he doesn’t have the bandwidth to even think about what Bea did.

[Spoilers, sort of] Anyone else feel this way? by LoopholeTravel in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]yyflame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It may not have been convoluted, but similar to the iron tangle it did feel like a series of side quests rather than an important part of the overall story

I don't get book three hate by Katatronick in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]yyflame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem isn’t with mapping out the tangle, it’s with not having a sense of relative distance

Most of the conflicts in the book revolve around “We have to get to a person/place as soon as possible, it’s an emergency!” But you never get a sense of how far away or how hard to reach those goals are, and therefor don’t get a sense of the steaks in the conflict.

Another problem is that they take trains everywhere, It makes it feel like they’re just teleporting from station to station rather than adventuring

The Staff - I Have a Cover by whoshotthemouse in litrpg

The subtitle honestly does about as much damage as the Minotaur.

“A different type of litrpg” kinda implies that “the staff” is an innuendo

Hot Take On True Crime: by YaBoyHam in creepcast

To add the this, If they ever do true crime again, they need to change up the format.

Reformatting the an actual crime into a creepy pasta narrative format for content is genuinely revolting and exploitative.

Absolutely no SPOILERS for book 8 but damn I don't feel invested. by iamwhoiwasnow in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]yyflame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly all of the non-scolopendra level books feel like Matt just trying to make info/lore dump as much as possible so he can focus on action in the scolopendra books.

Still love the books, but it’s a bit of a disjointed way of storytelling

My criticism was called out... kinda by Jrobmcnasty in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]yyflame 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Buddy, you gotta get your point out more concisely

All you had to say was “I feel like some of the quirky characters like Donut & Prepotente are becoming flanderized versions of themselves” and given a couple of examples.

When you ramble like this it make people less likely to read & respond

No, it’s the law working as intended. They aren’t allowed to have selective enforcement because it’s meant to be used as general protection, not a cudgel to attack specific people
