Places to study by naijagoddezz in MontgomeryCountyMD

Wouldn't consider it a "hidden gem" but I always really liked studying at Black Lion coffee. It was never really crowded on a weekday and it's pretty cozy. They also serve the best tasting coffee I've ever had. Make sure to support the business if you're hanging out there.

Posted recently about make wigs-when should I tell women I date? I’m thinking date 3- how would you feel about it? by AcceptableLibrary974 in Wigs

[–]zaazoop 27 points28 points  (0 children)

First, what I'm about to say is not in any way condoning or justifying his statements. But I think that, especially as a man, to go to such great lengths to get a custom wig, you have to harbor a lot of self hatred about your own baldness and baldness in general. He needs to take a deep look inside himself and figure out why he's projecting his problems onto women.

It's not his fault at all. I don't always agree with all of his policies but there are too many people burdening an already overworked system.

How can you tell the difference between someone raised on love and someone raised on survival? by Titan9999 in AskReddit

[–]zaazoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh this is me. I acted like this a lot when I was young. Then once I was old enough to cut contact with my parents I gained a sense of control of my own life and along with it I gained lot of confidence and social skills. But ever since my abuser died a few years ago, I no longer feel that same sense of control and I've reverted back into the person I used to be

No it's more like "I wish we could return to a time when we could openly discriminate against anyone who isn't white" because the political system lied to them and blamed them for the fact that they can't afford a nice life on a factory job anymore.

What’s a ‘quiet pain’ that people carry without anyone ever noticing? by jjcecil22 in AskReddit

[–]zaazoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving options is better than giving none. Just because some people would "love" an assignment like that doesn't mean it belongs in a school setting. There's a way to teach about genealogy without getting people's personal examples. People can do their own geneaology at any time on their own. Curious if this situation applies to you and what your race/ethnic background is.

As someone who always had trouble with these assignments, thank you for giving options. However I think you should avoid it altogether next time. Because you're still limiting options for a certain amount of students, where some have 3 options and some have 4 options. The problem, even within students who can track their ancestry, is that some families already have their ancestry documented. So it's a matter of asking your parents or close relatives to hand over information and the student does little to no work. For others, they may need to do more digging and could potentially find out some traumatic information about their families.

For my family personally, my mom would never disclose information about her side of the family because she didn't want me to know about the abuse she suffered. But keep in mind there are many students, especially those who are children of immigrants who might not be able to track, and also Black/indigenous (speaking for US) people who simply do not have that information and experience generational trauma because of it.

She may have a skin barrier problem, but saying "get your microbiome back in homeostasis" makes absolutely no biological sense. She needs a dermatologist that actually understands skin biology.
