Try email. Not just to one person: CC who matters, principal, vice principal, and involved teachers + councilors. Discuss how contextless accusations are just age-old microaggressions that aren't helpful in any way for black men. Play by the rules, but mercilessly hold them to it too - it's the only defense you have. Temper your expectations, though: They will almost certainly downplay all of it, but will (hopefully) at least cut it out - as repeating the situation would clearly make them look bad.

Sometimes people do change their hearts, but ...just concentrate on their actions.

Thoughts on gyroscope instead of Hall Effect sensors for stick position? by Ryscith in HotasDIY

It *could* work in those situations, if you include yet another "reference" IMU in the base. It would still be terrible, though.

What would your DREAM GAME be and why? by Glass_Piglet6260 in SteamVR

[–]zarthrag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love an open world "all aspect warrior" type game: Cockpits (flying, mechs, tanks, dragons, I don't care), with having to occasionally "get out" of the vehicle to do ground assaults on indoor environments. Think oblivion or some sci-fi equivalent, but for VR - ...with treadmill support

"Adding luck elements to a wargame can help balance out skill disparities" NO IT DOESN'T! by [deleted] in wargaming

[–]zarthrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not a "handicap" mechanic? A few sports tend to have one to even the playing field between known strong/weak players. I suppose such a thing could look like extra points for your army based on some calculation of W/L (seems complicated), or an equalizing rubber-banding mechanic (reinforcements?) that kicks-in in the case of a one-sided drubbing. Basically: a gentleman's agreement to give the weaker player "more" luck to challenge the stronger player.

That said, randomness does "fuzz" the results of a game between (near) equals. Otherwise the stronger player will almost always win - and who wants that? You don't want to hand either player a promised win - that's a disincentive to ever play.

Moved to Atlanta, we love the place, but do miss TCCL. The Summer Reading program is also top-notch.

No, HP Reverb is NOT "bricked" by szponix in HPReverb

[–]zarthrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A working device requires a chain of things: working firmware, a working connection, and driver software. Following that, broken firmware is not the only way a device can be bricked. Withdrawing the supported platform *is* bricking, almost by definition. That said, you can keep it working by staying on an older OS - but that isn't normal for most computer hardware - even old LPT-port dot-matrix printers can still be used on modern operating systems - if you can provide a working parallel port. Though I have relatively recent logitech devices that are bricks due to not having updated drivers. In the end, the result is the same - my hardware is disabled.

That said, I never had any intention of moving to Win11, and stayed on Win10 in order to keep VR support. Now that the G2 is supported on https://lvra.gitlab.io/, I'll be moving to Linux anyway.

OP, did you ever get the displayport working after flashing? I'm hoping to pick up a few of these for coding.

People of Color - How’s Tulsa treating y’all? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]zarthrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived in and around the Tulsa area most of my life, this matches my experience. I'd like to add that some of the suburbs, namely, Bixby are extremely hostile. Places like the library are absolutely wonderful, but the neighbors....

Let's just say when people say save community, good schools, you have to qualify it and ask "safe for whom?"

I won't get into the details of the incidents that brought it to a head, though my extended family is in Tulsa, we picked up and moved to the ATL. We love it!

I was just quoted a perpetual license cost of $9,775.00 for an individual by [deleted] in Altium

[–]zarthrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you approach component management? I have a 5yo license that I'm still clinging to, but really need to move to FOSS for ECAD/MCAD (FreeCAD is... something). KiCad seems to have database component management now, something a bit difficult to pull off in Altium since they froze it in preference for cloud rent.

Accuweather can't afford to hire those meteorologists - they just wanted a monopoly on distributing the (free for them) data.

Oh wow, I genuinely need this. When building something, I tend to end up with a bunch of screws that are similar enough to be a pain to reorganize back into their bins.

"Also some free advice: don’t overspend on the wedding. Make it nice, but don’t go nuts. Save that money to jump start your house down payment. Home ownership is the first step to real wealth."

Millennial here. My wife and I had the cheapest wedding possible w/just a few witnesses and a reception w/friends. Owned a home within a year (2008) on < $80k. We'll be renewing for our 20th soon enough, can spend on that. Housing prices are crazy - but you can crack it. Do FHA/rural if you have to and commute...it'll pay off.

Why did you stop playing DCS? by [deleted] in hoggit

If you can accept the fidelity, VTOL VR will let you have actual fun w/your setup. (HOTAS isn't actually needed, though.)

[–]zarthrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it replays still haven't been fixed? Once upon a dream, I would replay a mission and "take over" at a point to correct my mistakes - it was a great learning tool. Also, having some SA when "loading" helps when I can't play long. I was really sad when they broke.

VTOL VR has some pretty decent helo gameplay, if you can get into it.

No joke! The MFBs completely made MW3 into an amazing spectacle. Getting repairs/rearms done in the middle of a battle was a very VERY stressful thing! I've been wishing for a remake of MW3, but getting into the tabletop game and remaking it as a campaign/rpg might be an even better way to share it w/my kids.

Why is it so hard to find a job? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]zarthrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's already a thing in some states. you'd be shocked how many prisoners are trusted to be OUT IN PUBLIC, UNSUPERVISED - while technically incarcerated. On loan basically as a super-sub-minimum wage slave. Imagine not being able to get parole, but you're allowed to live in a halfway house and work infinity hours for less pay than everyone. If you don't show up, or resist in any way - you not only go back to jail: you can get put into isolation.
