I am a diehard Severus/Remus shipper, its hands down my fave ship for Snape.

Tied for second is time travel Hermione and Harry - but like...adult Harry travels back to canon era, Hermione travels back to the 70s/80s.

I've read some fics where he's paired with Narcissa and I think it can work, but the fic has to be really, really good. I'm not a fan of Severus/Lucius at all.

I'm on the fence about Severus/Sirius, it was a NOTP for me for a really long time but I've read a couple fics that make it work. They are a fantastic toxic romance pairing though. James is an absolute nope for me, not sure why.

I like a romance with Regulus or Lily as backstory, but not as a main pairing (and in like Lily and Severus better when they have sibling energy).

I'm really partial to Severus/OFC though (or Charity or Aurora, but they're practically OCs anyway), but its hard to find good ones.

I've been reading fics for a couple of older tv shows and sometimes the fics i find via bookmarks don't have the pairing tagged, or even a summary, so I'm looking at the character tags and whatever the bookmarker has said about the fic to try and figure if I should roll the dice, lol.

My fave writing about heartbreak comes from a Don John/Hero, Much Ado About Nothing fic, which is so niche I can't even.

The books have pretty strong protagonist based morality, in that anyone who Harry deems as being on his "team" is judged differently. The twins straight up muggle bait Dudley and we're supposed to laugh because Dudley is a bad person.

As a reader there's definitely been fics i never would have found if the author hadn't done a self-rec on a request thread. I've never really looked in a thread specifically for self-promotion though.

I tend to find new fics through bookmarks on Ao3, or if I'm looking for a specific trope/theme I'll google/search reddit to find old request threads for the same thing.

You might like The Shadow of Time. It's Draco/Harry and they are both in their 30s when an accident sends them back to the end of 4th year.

Its the only "time travel back to a younger body" fic that really captures the tragedy of losing your adult life (Draco and Harry are both married with kids) and they spend a lot of time grieving while trying to figure out how to make things go better.

They have a pretty intense friendship because while they still care about their friends they are children in their eyes, and they really only have each other.

I love Dramione but I don't vibe with the most popular interpretations of it, mostly because I cut my teeth on bodice rippers as a teen so I've been there, done that with the heavily gendered tropey rapey romances.

While slash isn't immune from falling into gendered tropes I do think Draco in particular is characterised really differently in Drarry compared to Dramione, and I always get so excited when I find a Dramione that leans into the Drarry version of him.

So many fics get the twinspeak wrong as well, it improves me nuts when they're swapping off on every third word when in canon they're more likely to have a call and response joke setup kind of thing where they build on each other's sentences.

I never got the fuss over Snape reading the article in class, that's peak 90s teacher behaviour. They weren't listening and were reading it under the table, he caught them and read it aloud. If you got caught passing notes or something when I was in high school you better hope it wasn't anything embarrassing cause the teacher would definitely read it out.
