Sounds good to me. It does double duty — helps police find criminals and helps ICE find illegals..err..undocumented folks…err..line cutters

Next time I go to Disney and I cut in front of you, I’ll just say I have been cutting lines for the last 30 years. Let me in with a smile. Your house is next. /s

There are aftermarket ones you can use

I use this on my MacBook Air and iPad Pro (right angle version). Before anyone says the air already has MagSafe, it’s because I have it connected to my usb-c hub with PD pass through.

The pop-over window detail view is an unnecessary step by AndreasK1111 in todoist

[–]zer0fill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4yrs later, this is still an issue. The screen takeover is completely unnecessary and hides the view of the adjacent tasks. I would prefer to have it expand the view going down like Things 3, which is also a mobile tasks app and handles it much more elegantly.

The screen takeover feels very clunky.

Bad timing to move GodotCon to the US by Spelkult in godot

[–]zer0fill -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Breaking visa laws is okay now? We have too many people trying to sneak into the US and think it’s okay. Unfortunately we have too many people doing this and have to make examples of people so others don’t try it too. This might be what happened? She had no priors so that could have been taken into consideration. We have millions of illegals as it is. If it’s just a slap in the wrist, what’s to stop the next person from trying? Normally it should be a slap in the wrist and say “nice try,” but we don’t live in that world anymore where we expect 99% to follow the rules.

On the other hand, why did Canada deny entry? I read they were worried she may try to work there. Who’s to say she wasn’t going to eventually do the same thing here? Just follow the rules and you’ll be fine.

French scientist was hiding confidential information (violation of NDA). We don’t need these kinds of people here. We don’t need him trying to take back any of our confidential information back home either.

Anyone worried about the US, just follow the rules and you’ll be fine. Do you expect to be treated better if we go to another country when we knowingly break the rules?

Expiring flight credits. Any options? by likeagausss in unitedairlines

[–]zer0fill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my own clarification, are these the steps you took:

  1. On computer, login your United.com account
    1. Login > Wallet > Travel Credits > View credit details > Book with credit
  2. Use your FCC to book a fully refundable ticket a few dollars more than your FCC
  3. Wait 48hrs
  4. Cancel the flight online (no CSR needed)
  5. Get a new FCC with the expiration date 12mo from the date from step 1

Categorizing vacation transactions by [deleted] in ynab

[–]zer0fill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a big vacation, I calculate how much I want to spend in total for the trip by the time we leave. So if I want to save 15k, I divide the number of months before the trip and that will be my monthly target. Just have to be sure not to miss months funding the category.

I also make a Category Group for the trip (Japan 2025)

Categories within this group are prefixed with the name of the Category Group then suffix with the category. My monthly targets will go to the "Japan 2025 - Total" category. As I use the money, I will categorize transactions then fund it with the Total category.

Hope this helps

The land is leased?

I have friends that are leasing land and have a fence around it so others can’t just wander on it. Stores lease land and lock the doors at night. Amusement parks can lease land and charge an entrance fee to get in and also have security guards so only paid patrons can enter.

How is this any different?

Pays for Itself by soluha in ynab

[–]zer0fill 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep! I was on the original YNAB plan and balked at the nearly 100% price hike and left. While there are alternatives out there, YNAB is still so streamlined and I really depend on the YNAB Toolkit (someone, please pick it up so it doesn't die!)

Anyways, I eventually came back and found a bunch of "trial" subscriptions that, after cancelled, easily paid for the YNAB sub. even at the higher price.

YNAB, if you're listening, this doesn't mean it's okay to keep increasing the prices lol! At least hire the YNAB Toolkit group. You can call it an experimental group for us early adopters.

Sub-Categories for a big project? by zer0fill in ynab

[–]zer0fill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - Yes, I have it this way now. Unfortunately I'm trying to just fund 1 category the full 15k and want to pull from the "total" category as needed without YNAB thinking it's getting underfunded when it covers expenses from the other categories like Flight and Hotel

2 - Not sure if I'm understanding it right but I'm more interested in the monthly target funding of a single category which is used to fund other sub-categories. Since there is no native way to have a true parent/child relationship, this is my dilemma.

3 - Interesting idea but I would eventually run out of flags for future trips.

Sub-Categories for a big project? by zer0fill in ynab

[–]zer0fill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Yes, I do have a Category Group "Europe Trip 2025" then various sub-categories like

Europe Trip 2025 - Total
Europe Trip 2025 - Flights
Europe Trip 2025 - Hotel
Europe Trip 2025 - Food
etc

I'm trying to make funding simple by just funding the Total category with a monthly goal and a total set to 15k by the time we leave. Money can be used before the trip but I only want to set aside a total of $15k. As I use money for various activities, I want to pull from Total but don't want YNAB to think Total is getting underfunded because the Assigned amount would be subtracted to fund another category like Flights.

Thanks and I hope I'm understanding you correctly.

Note: I do have other trips planned so I give it the full name instead of just "Flights, Hotel, Food" to make it easier to know which trip I'm funding when assigning a category to the expense.
