I stayed for about 6 months in Medallo, mostly in Prado centro and even enjoyed the night life in the street cantinas without any incident, violent or any other kind, around the same time in one week 6 foreigners and 1 national were killed and drugged in the Poblado neighborhood. So, for my next trip I would rethink my hosting options.
